Redondo beach pier fishing🐟 (Lots of mackerel)

In this video we go to Redondo Beach to catch some bait for upcoming fishing adventures. The bait was stacked at this pier in southern California.

What size Sabiki do you use? Cause I don’t know what size to get for mackerel

I usually use a size 6 sibiki but if I see people start landing the bigger macks I'll switch to a 4

Sometimes I do put a bit of squid on my hooks but this time I was using the sibiki without bait. It's more convenient when you don't have to rebait 5 hooks after each cast.

I wasn't underhand casting because it was early in the day and there weren't any tourists out and about. Also the pier was extremely empty since it was raining but yea it's true that overhead casting is prohibited. I'm curious about how they pursue if someone does overhead cast,I see you say they will red flag you but what does that do?

What do you do with the mackerel that you caught - do you eat them?

We mostly use it for bait,big mackerel gets used for dronefishing and the smaller mackerel gets used for thresher floats or chunk bait. 🙂
