Watched 30 seconds of this this morning, then decided to hit the Coquet. Really glad I did. Having blanked so far this season, finally caught something! Sea trout 6lb, 8lb and a silver 2.5lbs. Also a belter salmon 9.5lb. My biggest so far. Blank well and truly broken! Thank you for your inspiration.

Congratulations and cheers 🍻 You must be kicking your height after that session. Today definitely wasn't a day to not be on the river. I was up at Rothbury and might have had a fish or three myself.

Glad you were in the fish too. Rothbury.... I have still to explore more NAF beats.... Still the same old for me. But it is working!

@@abakerslife Indeed. Took a half day holiday and went up again this afternoon. Got a fresh little grilse - only a couple of pounds, but I'm counting it as my second salmon of the year!

Glad to see you back at it . We are headed toward salmon and steelhead season here in the Great Lakes watershed rivers. Hope my friend Phil was able to get in touch with you.

Hi Joe, bet you can't wait. I watched a youtube video called 'A steelhead family' and it really whet my whistle to go fish for them one day. Yes Phil came to visit me in the bakery too!

I can’t believe you didn’t get down on your knees,looked toward heaven and said,” Forgive me Father for I have spinned “.

Very good but it was more like 'Bless me father for I have caught.'

Brilliant video as per usual and it’s nice to you posting even without Carla the star of the show, you have been my main encouragement to salmon fishing not long ago I got my first Spey rod and so far casting is good

Looks a lovely river to fish. I managed to get a seatrout last night wasn't very big but was very welcome. Between myself and my dad we ended up hooking and landing the same 3.5lb brown trout on a dead sardine whilst fishing for pike within 5 minutes of catching it the first time.

That trout probably can't believe it's (bad) luck! Glad to hear the fish are coming

@abakerslife that brownie was back in April. Just finished editing a video with a 1lb 10 sea trout in it. Got another couple to edit then will be on a week's fishing trip on the Findhorn the first week in September.

Good to see you back. Well done. I'm driven mad by the fact that I can't seem to find a decent water height gauge online for the Wear-it is my favourite river in the UK -even though I live in North Wales ! Any (printable) suggestions ,please ?

Seatrout normally like a lot more speed on the fly so cast it 90 degrees and strip it in with short fast strips, that's how i do it here in Norway so most likely it works there too. Atleast worth a try:)
@abakerslife2 ай бұрын
Hi yes I'm mixing in more varied and faster retrieves though as you advised me before. On that particular river however I've been expressly told by a really top angler to never touch the fly. On other rivers it has worked though. Hope the closures haven't affected you and you are able to fish?
@MrKveite12 ай бұрын
@@abakerslife No both the 2 main rivers here are closed but we have browntrout and arctic char in most of the lakes here and the sea is 15 min away so it's no stress at all ty and a top angler can just mean he is fishing a lot more hrs than most people so always try anyway to make sure:)

Well, I like the fly description rather then names, who the f*ck on Utube knows what an Alexandre or Peter Ross is! On the pricked ST, if they even see you fly line, forget em, it'll be tucked under a tree root for 12 hours, they are rarely on their own tho. Need a cook up, banana a poor second, when's the pup 'Crumpet' guna be on screen🤔🐕🐟
@Scottishfreshwatersngling2 ай бұрын
Peter Ross is my favourite sea trout fly along with a teals blue or a stoats tail
@abakerslife2 ай бұрын
I think I'm a while away from getting a new sidekick yet. To tell truth I'm worried that a pup would distract me from my fishing so will wait a bit probably. Much more cooking on the way though..
