I want to lift the truck enough to run some aggressive tires because of the road. I also want to replace any and all worn out steering components so the truck is safe when driving on the highway. I went with Tuff Country because I knew their lifts were the best in the business. It's by far the smoothest full leaf lift I've ever used.

The sweetest part of the job is when you are lowering the floor jack and the tires touch the ground. SUCCESS !!!

Oh man does that ever bring back memories from my younger days. I bet it does ride and sound like a $50K Truck which in my mind is totally outrageous. Like watching your videos sir.

I love my old Fords, but they are nothing like a brand new $50-80k truck

Thanks for watching. While I love old trucks and prefer them for a lot of reasons, A brand new truck sure makes me feel like I'm doing something right. Luckily, doing things wrong first is usually my specialty

Karl Streich your paying for options that people didn't really need back then though, quality isn't even close and either is longevity. Vehicles are not meant to last. Too computer controlled.

Thank you, most Homesteaders these days produce to much "lets talk about this and talk about that" videos without doing anything... I just like it to see something has been done. Respect for your work and effort!

its best policy to overhaul, restructure, repurpose old heavily used trucks and sedans even etc with new parts wherever necessary . the vehicle does not give problems on the road and has satisfactory use. its very cheap than buying new. its a bit of work but satisfying and economical. better to have own auto shop and tools.

I love the line about, just because it's not brand new doesn't mean it can't still be nice, that's how I do my cars too, we have a 10-year old family car and a 15-year old commuter, and I try to keep them both in tip-top shape

I think I'm going to put a welder generator on the back after I get a flatbed for it.
@wrenw7951
@wrenw7951 7 жыл бұрын
Red Poppy Ranch can't go wrong with that. Plus you have a generator big enough to run a house and a side job option if needed. maybe later down the line buying/making a trailer just for the welder so it doesn't take up bed space.

I got over half way through video without seeing the grinder/cutting wheel come out, I was impressed and worried at the same time. =)
@RedPoppyRanch

I've had a few come apart. I've learned to wear a good pair of gloves and safety glasses. The mistake that some people make is not holding on for dear life when using a thin blade as well as knowing the limits of these blades. I never keep my face in line with the rotation of the blade. If a blade happens to come apart it would hit me in the arm or hand instead of my face but this has not happened to me in years. If a blade shatters, you did something wrong. Use good quality blades is probably the most important part. Thanks for watching

I thought your grinder was permanently fixed to one of our arms, lol. I use one occasionally and when I was younger I used one while wearing gym shorts, only for a minute, and the wheel caught my short and they got all wrapped up on the grinder.............Was VERY lucky my boys were not part wound up in that mess. LESSON LEARNED!!!!!!!

I did somthing similar to this on my 1989 f250, but I used a f350 straight axle from a donor truck literally bolted right in and the caliprs didnt even need to come off, the axle was out of a diesel mine is a 5.8 so I ended up netting about a 4 inch lift in the process.. looks good

If you really want to make that pickup bulletproof, I would be keeping an eye out for a local Dana 60 solid front axle for it. Much stronger components and many can be had for cheap if you get lucky! I nearly had a matching set Dana 60 front and Sterling 10.25 rear from a 1995 F-350 that I was planning to swap into my 1994 F-150 but some lucky dog beat me to the punch.

The problem I have with Rock Auto is that if I order 5 parts they will come from 4 different warehouses and they charge me separate shipping for each package. Yes, their prices are good, but shipping gets really steep sometimes.

I did this (rear) for a truck of mine some years back. But along with the standard I also installed overload springs and heavy duty shocks. Sure increased my hauling capacity. Just wondering why you didn't do that here, given what this truck will be doing?
@RedPoppyRanch
@RedPoppyRanch 7 жыл бұрын
I will likely do air bags in the rear. We intend on hauling our own logs to mill so I will need some sort of an assist in the back. Over load springs have a tendency to be too stiff for me.
