I've always been a dog guy too but one day I heard crying and I found a little starving black kitten that someone had abandoned and he'd wandered in through the open back door. I had to feed him (How can a person not?) and he decided then that I was his daddy. I named him Spook because he was a scaredy cat. He lived with me for 18 years, dying of old age, and it probably was the deepest relationship that I'll have in my life. They have a way of curling up around your heart.

Heath is lucky... he gets the drywall up faster than most people because of his height and wing span, he doesn't need a ladder that the majority of us would need to put the screws in or cut, and have to climb then move. That alone has saved him a ton of time over the rest of us.

I got my 13 year old daughter a kitten back in October and her her reaction was worth any trouble that cat could ever cause. Fortunately, he is a great cat that has an amazing little personality that brings joy to the whole family.

The summer before 3rd grade, my sister came home with a little 3 week old kitten. We had to bottle feed her. She lived to be 28! My children knew her. This video made me cry. You are a great father.

I am so glad you understand that the kitty is way to little to be on its own. I am so glad you guys are good people to take care for the kitty! So many people don't understand that they need to be with their mother until they are 12 weeks. My now 16 year old cat is VERY close to me, because his mom abandoned him when he was just 5 weeks. He actually sucked on his own stomach because he was missing that from his mom.

Did I hear textured ceilings? As a contractor le me just give ya somethin to think about. Any time I had to open up a ceiling to fix a pipe or what ever, no matter how hard you would try you could never get that spot good enough where it didn't stand out. Flat ceilings you can always match but hey, to each his own. Been following your journey, blessings to you and yours

This vid was fantastic! You have raised your family to care about each other which is rare these days. You could tell by Callie's reaction that the simple things in life are what bring joy to us. I have 3 cats and a German Shepard, all are part of the family. Ruger will probably be overprotective of your new addition. Please don't let it be an outside cat though, it could be devastating to Callie when it doesn't come home one day.

BTW please don't texture or popcorn the ceiling you will regret it trust me. And use flat paint on cieling because satin and semi satin will collect dust and stains will be harder to remove. You can always touch up with flat paint better.

In 2002, I was given a brand new gray kitten. She was a little ball of fur that required a whole lot of attention. Her name started out as "Binky" because she liked to bink her nose against mine. She eventually became "Mama", and has been with me all these years. She will be 18 in November this year. She has grown old and frail but she remains just as lovable as ever. Seeing the new kitten in this video, takes me back to those early days of raising my tiny feline into a lifetime friend and family member.

Cats can be your buddy just like dogs. I am 60yrs old and over the years have had a number of dogs with some that have been great buddies just like Ruger, but I have also had a number of cats and they too can be your best friends. Right now I have one that is about 12, he plays fetch, will bat pom poms back to me with his paws (playing catch), gets upset when I leave the house, is very affectionate and is my best friend.

Best story about acquiring a kitten I have heard in quite awhile. Congratulations to Callie. Have you come up with a name for baby kitty, yet? And, you're right about the drywall brightening up the downstairs considerably. I bet Cedar is all kinds of happy about that. The lawn has come in so incredibly lush and thick. When it was still raining cats and dogs there earlier in the year all I could picture in my mind was the green carpet across the muddy land to follow. The reality is more stunning than I could have imagined. Sure hope the contractor sees this video and comes through to help you finish the texture. This is all so exciting to witness.
