I think the 8V A3 with the 1.8T and quattro is an ofter very overlooked car. Exterior is great, interior is minimalist in design but looks fantastic. Great seating position and steering wheel. Steering feel is well weighted and has great feel. All you need to do is give it an ECU/TCU tune, good tires (PS4) upgrade the rear swaybay and you have a greally good warm hatch for not a huge amount of money...good on fuel too!

Unfortunately for Australians, tackling the servicing & maintenance for an ageing Audi is just way too expensive in this country. The only way to keep these on the road is to independently source parts from overseas, & be able to perform a lot of work yourself, or know an independent mechanic who is capable of working on these cars without charging a fortune. Anyone who has owned a C5 allroad ( I’ve had 2 after not learning the first time) will be acutely aware of their many failings, and the 4.2 V8 only added to the many mechanical nightmares this particular car is famously & absolutely plagued with.

Engine wise i think 3.0tdi, or Bi-tdi are underrated. Earlier 3.0tdis are super reliable, and with simple remap match 3.2fsi's power, with better fuel economy. While Bi-tdi is capable of 400+hp with remap and has awesome ZF8HP Tiptronic gearbox from RS6.

we have a allroad 2.7 V6 twin turbo, which is actually faster than the V8 and i know a couple of finns that have tuned theirs to over 400HP and apparently it can take it without problems. we bought our in 2016 w 180KKM , it has now 340KKM and has been pretty reliable. only changed like 4 air suspension bags (needs often to be towed to the garage) and one exh gas temp sensor (1000 euros including programming at audi's), and a few suspension parts. and we have towed our BIG caravan across europe with it a few times w/o any problems. norm fuek consumption 9-11L/100km, with a 2 ton caravan like 18. love the car.

Friends had an SQ5 and Allroad 3.0. Not bad cars. Nice list. Overrated are the 1996 A4 base model, 02 onwards A4 base with CVT, 2008 A3 5dr base.

A4 with CVT is under-rated, everyone claims it's crap but the post 2008 ones are fine, which makes it under-rated. Mine is currently on 120k miles trouble free and in my country there are hundreds for sale over 150k miles and also 200k miles. No worse than DSG/stronic that's for sure.

Underrated Audi cars Audi A4 B7 Quattro 2.0T with the GTI mk5 engine plus AWD and with MT it's a good plus, bolt on mods same as the GTI Audi A6 3.0T Quattro 2012-2018 if I'm not wrong. AWD plus an engine with a few bolt on mods capable of 475+HP from 300 HP, getting a supercar acceleration time from 0-60. Same mods applied for the Q7 and Q5 with the same engine And the last unferrated Audi I can think of, the first Gen Audi TT with a Manual Transmission and 1.8T EA113. What a car.

I have had fours Audis. A 2002 A4 2.0 which went like a Slug but I loved the styling. Then I walked past an A4 3.0 cabrio in a second hand window three years old. Again loved the styling but the CVT died and $8000 in 2006 really hurt. Audi wouldn’t help. A fellow in Alexandria showed me all the Audi and BMW transmissions that died during that period lining his shelves. Then a really nice A3 Cabrio, 2 door 2 litre in what would have been 2012. Loved that car. Underrated. Lastly another A3 cabriolet in the totally revised 2015 format which btw is still the current layout. Loved that one too. Anyway that’s me. BMW now and will never touch a CVT or German car out of warranty ever again.

Wow some proper inaccuracies in the first car, the supercharged replacement had about 80nm more torque which was available sooner and for longer. It had 1 more kw on paper over the NA example but that power was available over way more of the rev range. Also, that's a standard 90 degree V6 as opposed to the narrow angle 3.2 used in the R32, teo very different engines.

S3 wagon. With the vr6 and 6 speed manual. Either Quattro or fwd. A few mods for the body and upgrades under the hood and a tune and a big turbo kit. Ur 500hp easy in a tiny 1.3 ton car

Yes the 3.2 liter vr6 manual transmission Quattro or fwd. The s line. But all an s3 really is is an a3 with the s line features and a tune. So for example u have an a3. An a3 sline. An a3 2.0t is about 212hp. The 3.2 vr6 is 250 natural asperated. But if a s3 is 312 hp in a 4 cylinder and about 325 in a vr6. U can have someone tune ur ecu for u for couple hundred bucks and an a3 s line is now an s3 basically. Or u can buy an s3 but they are doing the tune for u at a crazy cost. I own a 2007 vr6 manual with Quattro and s line. If I were to put a big turbo kit in and a tune and some rs3 body kits, breaks, suspension I would now have a 500hp rs3 wagon on the cheap in USA where they are not. This is my plan

@@patsfball3710 depends on the country. Here in Aus S-Line basically usually means lower suspension, different wheels, a bit of a bodykit and some different seats. So in 2016 for example you could have a A3 35 TFSI S-Line which is a FWD, 1.4 turbo, 110kw (150bhp) A3. In fact it essentially was the base model for a few years. You could also have an A3 40 TFSI (FWD, 140kw 2.0l turbo) with S-Line kit as well as an A3 40 TFSI S-Line Quattro which was the same but now with AWD. My point is S-Line, at least in Aus, is an option that does not give any real performance increase on the model it is equipped with, just slightly worse ride quality.

Standard A6 C5 or s6 C5 is much better option than allroad if we concider reliability. Standard s6 you could get with manual transmission, no crappy tiptronic that would die 10years later.... it had older V8 with timing belt not chains and no air suspension that would give you headaches

Honestly didn't expect this for today's video but it's a good video none the less. I'd say the first gen D2 A8 is probably one of the most underrated Audis around especially since it was the first model to use the Audi all aluminium space frame. As for the overrated Audis the one that jumps out at me as being overrated compared to its competition is the R8. Makes me wonder if this Friday's video is going to be on an Audi lol 😆 but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The C6 RS6 is probably my favourite Audi ever made and would love to own an Avant of that generation one day. There's one in my town and boy it sounds amazing! In terms of overrated Audis, V12 TDI Q7 would be one of those. Useless thing.

The TTs are ALL underrated IMO. Every single one (except maybe the TT RS, maybe). Looking at the second gen like you did, the basic one is essentially a Golf GTI but better looking and importantly, lighter. They also had better suspension. Nobody thinks the Golf GTI is terrible. So why can you buy a TT for less and usually much much better looked after and without the stupid mods. The TT 3.2 is the same as the R32, except again, lighter, better looking and much better cared for. I nearly bought a 1st gen TT 3.2 for under 10k in superb condition. The guy couldn't sell it. R32 was a good 70% more expensive. Madness!

I actually have two first gen N8. First, I bought 132Kw 1.8t Quattro as a daily driver - It was dirt cheap here in the Czech Republic. Then I had an opportunity to hear 3.2 VR6 pour like a kitten and I just had to have one. The plan was I would sell the first one after getting the second but I couldn't bring myself to do that yet, so now I have two. They are a delight. I hope I will live to see my boys graduate and then I will gift them one each. That's a plan and I'm sticking to it.

Problem with the TTs is they dont handle that well, because like other Audis the engine is mounted to far forward to get a good balance. They also don't have much character. They are ok for daily driving, but not a sports car. But they should have made it mid-engine.

As a massive Audi enthusiast, here are a few that I think are overrated: 1. Audi Q7 (2006-2014) - expensive to run, especially as they are and not as nice as you’d think for the money 2. Audi S5 4.2 V8 B8 Generation (2007-11) - see below - supercharged 3.0 is far more efficient, faster and lighter 3. Audi R8 2008-2014 V8 - performance isn’t really at the level you’d expect - reliability issues regarding the 4.2 4. Any Sportback SUV - ugly 5. Anything up to 2015 with a DSG - super jerky and reliability issues. From experience, I actually prefer the CVT for the entry level cars over the DSG as it’s far smoother 6. Audi A1 8X - interior and overall quality nowhere near what you’d expect from an Audi, just buy a Polo or Yaris or save for an A3

Do not get c5 allroad, Its 2.5tdi had high pressure fulepump failures and cams that dont get oil that they need, the 2,7biturbo aint know to be reliable. The all roads air ride system likes to fail and is expensive to fix, the 5speed auto transmissions on the mid 90s to early 2000s audis like to melt left n right. The v8 is most reliable option from allroads engines.

Q5 3.2 fsi. Yeah, because it has the torque converter tiptronic instead of the dual clutch s-tronic. 2nd gen tt in rs spe - cool engine but dual clutch so no. 2nd gen tt in s spec - nope, dual clutch and oil consumption no thanks. Rs6? Absolutely just budget an extra 100k for bills. S2? Cool car, never sold in aus, some guy imported one and got really shirty when he found out Audi dealers cannot retrofit crap so he can put in a kid seat and don't hold parts. Get your parts from Britain.

Gave them the benefit on the doubt on the first one, (the service was good befitting a premium product), the second car was better, but that was post Dieselgate, and they were aggressively managing warranty costs, and everything was a fight, despite all my problems being documented issues. I warn everyone to just say No.
