There is a feature in the app to set "virtual boundaries", so if you have areas you don't want the vac to go to just set exclusion zones, works a charm.

This vacuum was very easy to install and get going So simple I recommended it to my parents. Was shocked at how quickly it could do an entire room. Totally worth the price. The app took a couple of minutes to install but has no issues.

Also, are the wheels on this properly orientated? I ask because the first gen Xiaomi had the wheel spring mechanism set in such a way that the bot had issues with carpet rims.

the wheels are oriented in the right place but sometimes it has a hard time climbing some carpets due to a rubber lip from that plastic that holds the bottom brush in place... it really depends on the carpet...

@@RedskullPro Hmmm. Well at least the wheels are correct. That was the one thing that killed the Xiaomi Gen 1 for me, and was the reason why I upgraded to the second (Rockrobo) model. I guess for the price of the Deebot 900 you can't really complain.

it works on any floor...but it will be a bit challenging if you have a thick carpet

My 901 won’t map the whole house...Is there a trick to make it finish the entire house? Once it has that, I have a feeling it would work better. I’ve had mine a week and it has yet to map or finish cleaning. I called tech-support number in the Philippines and they are pretty useless. They suggested some basic troubleshooting but I have a feeling the issue is my floor is over 2000 ft.². Am I able to compartmentalize and haven’t learned that way? The issue becomes the vacuum off and die completely before finding the charging dock while mapping. If I try to pick it up or put it close to the dock to assist it it loses the map! How annoying.

depends on your preference. I tried quite a few robotic vacuums and the ones without mapping are a bit annoying... they keep going over the same area over and over and miss some areas... my Xiaomi Roborok S5 cleans my house in 27 Minutes, this one in abut 34 minutes and all the other ones without mapping over an hour.

YES!... The Mapping allows cleaning in a set pattern vs a random bump and run style.

Don't buy black vacuum robots! They will constantly look dusty and dirty. I have a roomba and the 2nd gen Xiaomi bot and the Xiaomi never looks filthy (plus it has excellent cleaning action and the wheels on the second gen model are properly designed), while the black roomba always looks like it's covered in dust.
