One thing I do to stop my dupes getting trapped when I'm digging out large areas is make the ladder construction one higher priority than the digging. Then the normally won't get stuck. Aah you said it in the video later.

Regarding the trapped dupes, what I usually do when digging is to queue only 2 rows above the ladders instead of all 4 rows. Only dig the rest once the ladders are finished. Hope that helps! As always keep up the great work!

The temp shift plates are always made at the temperature of the material you use. So cooler materials will make cooler temp shift plates. If the material is very hot, it will be a maximum of 45 degrees, though. This is why yours were so hot - you used a hot material to make them.

Hi Nathan, congrats on the series! Regarding your thoughts for the cool salt slush geyser on 14:40 of the video, actually you don't really need to make the room lower, as the salty water does not emit any gases. In case the liquid drops below the top level, it will remain a vacuum.

Btw. Negative traits on Dupes give bonus points for their stats. The worse the trait, the more points it gives. The more negative traits, the more it gives. You will never get a +15 Dupe unless they have multiple negative traits. You just have to find something you can live with, like Mouth breather (+5), Bottomless Stomach (+4), or Plant Murderer (+2). Edit: For your Dupe that you denied, if he's a dedicated cook, who cares if he takes a hit to farming and building. There's plenty of other secondary tasks he can do. However, the Flatulent trait is a no go for me because I don't want him spreading natural gas everywhere.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
I figuree the negative traits have an impact on the numbers. Flactulent dupes are really nasty indeed;)
@kinagrill Жыл бұрын
Natural gas can be useful tho, and it's free! just allow it to funnel up, have a pump up there that will store the gas, then use it for power rather than coal or some such.

I dont understand the polluted water in the geyser, won't the geyser be submerged and be blocked from erupting?
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
Only if there is a certain amount already in the tile. We'll have to find out when it stops errupting.
@jemsterr2 жыл бұрын
Geysers and volcanoes have a maximum pressure, which is measured on the tile second from the left and one up. (squished ones like the salt slush geyser also check the 4 tiles around that and only one needs to be below max to erupt - nice exploit to make it keep pumping if you can trap a gas below pressure in one of those tiles without breaking the walls) If the pressure is above that (doesn't matter if it's a gas or a liquid) it won't erupt, but if it's below, it will.
@jemsterr2 жыл бұрын
Generally, that max pressure is 5kg for gas/steam vents (50 for CO2 geyser/leaky oil fissure), 150 for volcanoes and 500 for water geysers/vents. If you look at the geyser page on the wiki, you can see the Pmax for each geyser/vent/volcano.

Wait... Maybe im missing an important point here, but... Why making vacuum or 100% filling with liquid a "pwater geyser room", if, unless you instantly drain the pwater when it appears or never drain it if the room its completely full, its gonna offgas and sooner or later fill at least the upper part of the "room" with gas anyway? I mean, I get that you wanna do it to optimize space to the extreme in literally all gases and all other liquids... But why in a liquid that "creates" gas? You re just avoiding gas while the "room" is 100% full (or empty) of pwater, but as soon as one simple tile is free of pwater (which will happen a few minutes after you first start pumping it), or as soon as the first drop appears if it was empty, all efforts will be wasted...

The second the geyser goes off it will off gas. Not sure how you're going to stop it. It doesn't matter really. The air will rise to the top. It will be compressed into the upper corners.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
That's why I filled it with PW. The sensor is gonna make sure to only pump so that there is still some PW left in the upper tiles.
@TheMule712 жыл бұрын
@@Nathans-Sandbox Lowering the ceiling was a good idea. You can make extra room below the geyser but not above. When the 2nd layer reaches 500g, the geyser goes overpressure. The third layer never gets filled anyway (not by the geyser at least).
