12:00 You can rotate auto-sweepers and the range is still the same, no need for moving the ladder. Just add a rotated auto sweeper to the right and it will fertilize most of the crops.

You might want to think about building some sort of overflow for the extra glossy dreckos you'll be getting in the near future... perhaps a room where they just get sheared until they starve? Or more humanely, just a kill chamber? Worth noting that they start their lives out of the egg with full scales, but you need to wait until they reach adulthood (5 cycles) to shear them.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
I will have to revise it in the future definitely.

As for cooling ranch, i would replace these 4 normal tiles on left-bottom with metal tiles, and run that cold pipe thru it... since there are 2 cold pipes like 3 blocks away from there :)

You should build a ladder up from the top left liquid lock exit, that way is saves the dupes from running around in a loop. Also, we didn't see what was happening up on the surface!
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
I ended up connecting them:)
@basedeltazero714 Жыл бұрын
4:10 I assume you're not just making a liquid lock because of the cold? Making an actual airlock is weirdly complicated in this game, but even without a fancy pump setup it'd cut the risk of outflow significantly.

Probably want to make sure the autosweepers in the drecko farm don't pick up any meal lice.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
The meal lice that drops on the floor will not be eaten by the dreckos I believe, so there's no point in leaving it in.

About shutoffs after some testing to liquid and conveyor ones they suffered no damage. I had them in a complete vacuum running for about 100 cycles and the temperature didnt go up at all. They stayed at 20C the entire time. I used both hot and cold liquids and again no change in temperature. I believe it is safe to say that shutoffs do no care about temperature if they are inside a vacuum.

Watching this entire series, I love it! I'm a new player, feel very dumb playing it haha, but it's super entertaining to watch you play and I learn a lot!!!! Honestly I have no idea what you are doing most of the time, but it's still fun! QUESTION: In this episode you place the conveyer belt and have it spit out stuff to your ONE tile storage place. HOW did you set that up? I've been scrolling back in episodes trying to see where you implemented that, but can't seem to find it. I WANT that. Right now all my stuff is scattered around the map and I would love to sweep everything neatly into one tile, it won't fit into a storage box and I don't want to dedicate my whole base to storage right now. Does my question make sense????
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! It's fairly easy, just use an automatic dispenser and set it to sweep only, then everything you sweep will be brought there and dropped on the same tile. ;)

I seem to be able to get away with 5 mealwood farms for 8 drecko's in my 96 tile ranches. I make mine 9 wide (1 auto sweeper) and 11 high with a 3 tile "loft" for the shearing station. hope that helps.

Yeah, eventually I gotta optimize the design. With this first farm I'm basically gathering some data. Useful to know that 5 plants are doing the trick, I will remember that, thanks!

Wow. 7 dupes on cycle 304. I've never run that lean, might need to try it some time. Usually I have 20-30 dupes by this point.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
Why?
@JulieanGalak2 жыл бұрын
@@Nathans-Sandbox - to get things done faster. I hate waiting for the dupes to get things done. On my current run, I am at about cycle 80 and have 11 dupes. 3 build diggers (one on another planetoid via teleporter), 1 researcher, 1 farmer, 1 rancher, 1 mechatronics engineer/operator, one cook, and the rest on tidying/storing/supplying duty.
@JulieanGalak2 жыл бұрын
@@Nathans-Sandbox - But I've also never taken a build to thousands of cycles. I think my longest run was into around cycle 500 before I got bored of it. It was clear that I was past all the real challenges at that point. I had infinite power, infinite food, infinite O2, and while I could build mega projects, it'd just be for the heck of it, they weren't really needed.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
It is slower indeed. But I'm now near 1k cycles and even my 7 dupes are starting to idle a lot.

You have only a sustainable base with those necessities. This is imo only the first step in the game.
@jemsterr2 жыл бұрын
If you make a tempshift plate behind the output tile of the volcano made of refined carbon, it will turn into a natural tile and plug up the volcano rather than trying to seal it up. If you do seal it up, don't you need obsidian? Or will ceramic actually not melt at lava temperatures?
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
I heard of this method, was never temoted to use it yet. Ceramic is the second to best insulation material. All insulated tiles don't melt.
@jemsterr2 жыл бұрын
@@Nathans-Sandbox I've had insulated igneous rock tiles melt before, so I've always just used obsidian.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
How? Check the melting temp of it, I don't believe that happened. Maybe you used normal tiles instead of insulated in the example you remember?
@jemsterr2 жыл бұрын
Melting point 1409.. Takes a while for the tile to heat up with such a low thermal transfer, but it will eventually melt.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
Eventually in 10 years playtime?😂 Just kidding, I had my igneous rock tile touching lava for almost 2k cycles in the old save. I'll have to check, but I bett it is still near the temp we started at. I mean sure maybe eventually it can heat up, but that timeframe is much longer. I have a suspicion why that happened to you: You used a tempshiftplate to directly inject magma heat to the tile, then maybe that is more realistic. Even then it probably takes ages.
