LSS has reprint problem and they need to address that. No one is against reprinting cards to make it more affordable and accessible but they need to also consider the players who spend a lot to acquire the cards when it first appeared. Imagine buying crown of providence that cost a liver then only to sell them now for a bag of chips. Most casual players get into FAB thinking the cards they spent their hard earn money on will still be worth something in the future when they decide to switch heroes or stop playing due to life commitments. The only way to remedy that is to never use the original art for reprints. If they want to reprint COP, tunic, frailty codex, warmonger's diplomacy, etc, to make it more accessible thats fine but they need to use a new art for the reprint to somehow preserve the value of the original print.

I do not mind sets that do not have support certain heroes since that means I can save money for the next set possibly. Also, if it is a problem to someone, I would encourage them to have multiple main heroes so it does not happen as often. I have 2 main heroes but I mostly bounce between 6 heroes in total. I would also love to see more options to play heroes. That is what made MTG so fun. You could literally make a deck about anything. More options is better.

As much as I hate to say it, I think there will be a downturn with FAB and BL. We have 1 Mech player in the city so …And there’s chatter about a lack of casual play, which is never good. Either way I’ll keep stocking it in my store but Mexico really needs LSS official support so I can at least have armory events for my customers.

They need to make sure the dont fall into the Cardfight Vanguard problem of only supporting classes once a year. I dont think back to back limited support sets is a good idea personally, but i also love mech.

I'm not gonna go crazy with Bright Lights, but gonna support the community and LGS and LSS. It was my local mech player who hooked me up with lots of the warrior cards I couldn't pull from DTD, now I get to help him out and go Tunic fishing, the best kind of fishing

Speaking about this problem of having sets that don't cater to particular classes, I know that multi-class hero cards are a huge balancing issue, but wouldn't it be cool if they started printing multi-class cards with _conditional effects_ ? I.e. such a card would be normally more focussed on a particular class anyway, but what if those cards instead had certain effects to have lower cost for that particular class? Or some other upside if you commit to a particular class?

To "bone up" on something is to study, people have said it for ages. I kind of understand why they have to leave certain heroes out of the sets. I just checked and Dusk Til Dawn has 236 cards. Compared to a Hearthstone expansion thats about 100 more cards, and Hearthstone services all 11 classes with each expansion. However, each class gets about 10-12 cards, and then theres Neutrals/Generics. Whereas in FAB sets where they only service a couple of classes, those clases get like 30-50 cards each instead of 10.

Not a huge mech player but will grab a couple of boxes. If there is some Riptide support in that utility slot I’ll def be buying. Good arm piece or quiver please. Since I think their article said it’s also a slot to support under performing champs outside of the set. Let’s hope

As a new-ish player that isn't SUPER interested in Mechs (the wife might be a Dash player, but that's 1 of our 6 decks) and I'm not really sure I want to get in on the new set. Might get that Round the Table box because I want the Mat and the Box and then maybe get some of friends interested via UPF.

Honestly, I think choice restricting is a great idea that's at least worth trying out on LSS's part. It allows for game balancing without overcorrection which can often hinder the playing experience for a lager group than what is intended. And the argument that can get complicated later on is not that big of an issue considering people seem to be able to grasp 'fiddly' restricted lists in Ygo, even as a new player.

Absolutely. With all the current banned and restricted stuff anyway, this was my exact point. Also, highly competitive players will grasp the banned list anyway and do all the research prior - so I think 'banned in x' is fine. 😊

One thing I'm surprised wasn't mentioned is that a set without your hero gives you a reason to try out a different hero. I understand that a lot of the game, as was very well discussed in the episode, is about people latching onto specific heroes and everybody will have preferred playstyles, but I see the Mechs as an excuse to put down what is normally played and try something new. It's sort of like if you have a favourite crisps brand, you'll go for it every time if it's stocked but when you run out is when you try something else. That said, IF this style of product is good for the health of the game and its consumers, I suspect it is much more in line with what was talked about in terms of avoiding consumer fatigue in every set. Hopefully they don't do it too much as an overuse of restricting people from getting shiny new toys feels bad. Great episode, it was a wonderful listen.

So what bugs me around the talk of “I’m not a mech” or “there’s nothing in this set for me” is that we don’t know if that’s true or not. For all we know one of these heroes either through lore or play style does actually speak to you as a player.

My 2 cents might not carry much wait. I juat got into this game a few weeks, its my first TCG and my local shop gave me a Dromai precon blitza deck to myself and another to my friend. Since then I've really enjoyed getting into it but still very casual. Trying yo build a couple CC decks from lists I've found. I pre-ordered a box of Bright Lighrs because i got a free Dash Precon Blitz deck and Mechanologist as theme is cool. Nothing more.

As of right now, I'm probably buying a case and I intend on playing every card in some form or fashion. Also, Crack Shuffle Play is easy content, just like you said. One of my friends is a Mech player, so that makes it easier to justify the purchase as well. And I'd love for Mr. Teklo to be CC-viable.

Aside from the ocassional Jank/meme hero Mech is my main class. I always make it a habit to buy one case per set just so I have all the commons and most of the rares in case the meme bug bites me to make a jank deck. For Bright Lights I'm buying 2 cases. Plus a few loose boxes for draft/fun. I would argue FaB does have a limited list. They just hide it behind a card mechanic. Legendary. If they ever add a "pseudo legendary" card mechanic you would have your semi limited cards😅

@@RedZoneRogue yes the limited format was baked into the system. It operated where you picked your hero after opening/drafting from either a list of heroes in the set or selected heroes. deck were generally small like 30-40 cards.

The hero problem I see is that the game encourages attachment to a certain character and style that will be fleeting. I quit when a favorite character of mine hit LL. Also hated how instead of balancing Starvo they just let it stomp until it hit LL. Bad choice.

Did the professor product that releases in 2 weeks or so get cancelled or something? Aren't there 100ish new cards coming really soon in that? Yea Bright lights will not have other hero cards but its not like theres a complete drought of content for everybody else

It will have 4 precon decks, one of which is Mech. We know another is Bard. It is meant for casual multiplayer so I wouldn't exactly call it an abundance of support

@@RedZoneRogue One of them is a confirmed guardian though so at least they will be getting some love, and as always generic support is interesting for everyone. Not saying its a lot or how impactful it will be, but it's not nothing. And the way people talk about the next period of the game is that it's stale and uninteresting because no new cards that will interest them/their hero :/ Just felt like people completely wrote off this product
