He'd be perfect on Houston with Senguin as an offensive hub distributing the ball. Coming off screens, DHOs and constant motion to where he doesn't have to dribble the ball and keep the defense off balance like Curry. Running a PnP with Smith and PnR with Senguin would be deadly.

As a rockets fan I don’t like this move. Sengun being the offensive hub caused half the team to be stagnant and out of rhythm. Rockets are better when they play fast and utilize their speed and athleticism with guys like Amen, Jalen, Cam, Tari, etc. Ime loves defense so I think Clingan is the pick here

What a dumb take. The bottom line is he is not 6’8. You take this kid this high in the draft, and you’ll be regretting it for years. Not saying he won’t be a solid pro, but I wouldn’t draft him this early. Back of the lotto or early teens are better suited for his skill sets.

As a rockets fan Reed is the perfect fit for our team he a great combo guard which means he can play well with Amen and Jalen on ball and off ball. He could also play well with Sengun in the pick and roll. But man taking him at 3 might be rich but if the rockets love him and he at the top of their board you go ahead and take him

My only concern with him (if we pick him) is how his defense is going to translate into the NBA. His instincts and IQ look well on-ball, but I’m worried that his size will end up being an issue. Under Udoka, though, I think the odds are pretty high that he’ll be at least average on the defensive end of the court

I actually think even NBA teams might be underrating the shooting season he had... I ran some statistics on it and there's at least a chance he legitimately had the most efficient college shooting season ever for a legit NBA prospect (all the comparable shooting seasons either came before the FIBA three point line, or were clear "random chance" seasons by guys who weren't real prospects in the first place). I think people see he shot like 53% on a "small" sample and instantly regress that to where all the other "good" shooters are, but that's statistically very wrong to do... other "good" shooters who have a crazy shooting season shoot like 44% in college on this many attempts, not 53%! The chances of a top 100 prospect having a shooting season like his with "only" a 39% true 3P% is like... an over-performance you'd only see once every 15 years. I mean, he shot over 49% from the NBA three point line on over 80 attempts. That's insane. You can also watch the full film of every three point shot he took and see that when he wasn't being face guarded by the other team... he basically just doesn't miss. Like I think he hit like his first 15 C&S threes in a row before teams caught on and started giving him a Steph lite treatment. He could legitimately come into the league as a 45%+ three point shooter and I would not be shocked.

Like I hear people having arguments about "who's the best shooter in this class"--including his own teammate, Dillingham--and it's just so ridiculous to me. People do NOT know what they're watching, it's not even close.

His defense reminds me a lot of the way Jeremy Lin played defense in the latter parts of his career. People don’t realize Lin actually led all guards in blocks per minute by a long shot. He was second amongst all guards in blocks total and blocks per game behind only John Wall despite being 6’3” with a 6’3” wingspan. Lin was a more physical than Reed though and a bit taller, but similarly deceptively athletic.

@@scootover7 well let's be real he was a pretty good defensive playmaker at the college level he could get a lot of steals and deflections but their are still questions about just how good a defender he'll be at the next level going up against bigger stronger quicker athletes now your sugg of playing at the 2 would make the most sense as he is a lights out shooter and does have some upside as a movement shooter but I'm not gonna lie the thought of him having to guard guys like Anthony Edwards, Kyrie Irving, even Jamal Murray etc. frightens me

@@johndavis9321IKR?😂I don’t know why some people would say shit like “Oh he’s a good defender in college he must be great in NBA”,it doesn’t make sense at all… In fact most “Good Defenders” in the NCAA level ended up being mediocre at best defensively,because their talents ain’t gonna work in the big league. Reed is more likely to be around 6’2 with a 6’3 wingspan… Plus being white basically kills his athleticism upsides (Come on,it’s common sense at this point ),so below average physical attributes + below average athleticism,not a good look.

Think the Grizzlies would be a great fit too. Could come off the bench to replace Kennard, who I think he'll be better than. Then eventually ease into backup PG duties after Smart moves on. He'd also get the development as a ball-handler/shot-creator. Bane has made a huge strides in those areas.

The offense would be great but the defense between him and LaMelo would be poor. We have seen that two offensive-minded guards paired together don't perform that well, especially in playoff settings. Maybe you could have Brandon guard POA, but I don't think that would put him the best position to succeed defensively at all.

@@thehighvibe5528 he does not play great D lol. He plays passing lanes well but he struggles at the POA. The game against Oakland he struggled to stay in front of his man the entire game. If future accountants were doing that to him what do you think will happen to him at the next level. Brandon, as much as I love him, will never be an all-defense caliber defender. That is what you will have to have if you want to pair Reed and LaMelo together.

Not that it matters, I'm a wizards fan. I think they are taking him. They have 2 sf they are rebuilding with. They traded gafford to Dallas, they're trying to trade kuzma and they have this Jones at pg who was trade bait last deadline. I see the wiz taking him and making Jordan Poole compete. They have another 1st Rd. And assuming they trade kuzma for another pick, they have those to address other needs. Poole is about the only player their stuck with because of his play to pay ratio.... So I see them taking someone at his position. Could be dillingham they pick tho

Honestly if you are playing with Amen, Sengun, and Jalen Green, you don't have to worry about shot creation. Just spot up in the corner and knock down open shots off of the penetrations and double teams.
@JwebGuru
@JwebGuru 7 ай бұрын
The shot creation concerns are super overblown, he acts like Reed couldn't score in iso but you can look up Synergy results of all his iso possessions (and watch them) and he scores on like 65% of them lol. His deadly shooting from both three and midrange makes it extremely hard for teams to go under so he often has a clear driving lane to the rim, even with his meh handle. They just barely called any plays for him, Cal was too busy featuring his "real" prospects Wagner and Dillingham (to the detriment of the team).

I would honestly consider taking him first overall in this draft. His ability to shoot isn’t just great, it’s special. In today’s NBA, he’s not going to have trouble getting his shot. He might not be a lead guard like Curry but more like Klay and I think he has a bit more pop off the dribble than Klay. He’s got plenty of athleticism and quickness, he’s a good playmaker. I can see him becoming a 20/5 guy in the league. If I’m the Orlando Magic I am all over this. He’d be the perfect compliment to Paolo, Franz and Suggs.

Can't see him being a long-term starter on a competitive team, tbh. He has to have the perfect two-way, primary creator, tall guard next to him to make it work. How many of those are there in the league? He'll be an awesome bench guy though. Just don't wanna take him top 5 for that reason - upside isn't really there.

I don't see Donte Divincenzo in him at all. I don't know how you don't see Payton Pritchard or TJ McConnell in Reed and his game. Those three can be triplets. He's definitely going to be a top five pick being that so many teams at the top of the lottery are so thirsty for a PG/lead guard.
@JwebGuru
@JwebGuru 7 ай бұрын
Payton Pritchard's best shooting season in college was more than 10% worse than Reed's freshman year. TJ McConnell same thing. And both of them shot from a shorter college three point line. Not all short white guys with bad haircuts are the same player.

@@JwebGuru My reference and comp was to a 2024 / NBA Payton Pritchard and TJ McConnell. Though honestly, if I was to compare Reed Shepperd to TJ McConnell and Payton Pritchard, I would say that those two right now are better than Sheppard. But in 3-5 years it may be the other way around. We'll see.

People saying he is too short dont realize Curry is the same size as him. 🤦‍♂️
@JwebGuru
@JwebGuru 7 ай бұрын
People saying he didn't get up enough shot volume also don't realize that the team like... literally never screened for him. He shot off four screens all year (and went 2/4 on them). Four! For guys his and Curry's size, it's vitally important that the team take some effort on offense to make sure they get an open shot, but instead they just kinda freestyled out there and hoped the defense broke down for a second and forgot where he was (something that happened increasingly less often as the season went on and teams learned to never ever leave him open).
