The Hillcrest Tree Farm in Reedley, CA was founded in the early 1960s. In the 1990s, it became home to a great 15 inch gauge railroad, and now it hosts the annual Reedley Railfest event every year.
Join us for a look at the operations as guest engineers and even a guest locomotive descend on Hillcrest for the event. You'll see six different locomotives, including a miniature Shay!

Santa Fe Railway Historical and Modeling Society members (SFRH&MS) enjoyed a great day trip to the rail road several years ago. It is a wonderful and very special railroad and worth the trip from anywhere on earth.

The Shay, GSP&P 7, was built by Ken Kukuk, Ken Petersen, and me Johnny Hoffman as a tribute to our friends, the Holmes brothers of San Jose. The mogul 5, was started by the Holmes brothers in the late 1950's and languished for years until Ken Kukuk completed it. Mr. Kukuk then built the consolidation 13. Our friend, Ken Petersen is no longer with us, RIP. Ken Kukuk and I, Johnny Hoffman, are still here in our 70's. The GSP&P 1, built by the Holmes brothers in the 1950's, has been used extensively thru the years.

Thanks for posting this John. I only live about 20 miles from this wonderful railroad and try to get there at least once a year as the Hillcrest Farms has several events during the year and is open to the public and encourages families to come and enjoy. I had intended to go to this year's Railfest but I was not able to make it. Thanks for all the good videos of the trains and engines that were there. I hope to make it next year as I have not attended Railfest in several years.

The british loco , wel it looks like one, in a few of the shots, remind me heavily of the british built "little giant" that was quite popular in 15 inch railways. a classic !

Want to see something like this only on a grander scale? Go to Kent, England and ride the Romney, Hythe and DymChurch Railroad. Yes, lots of powerful steam locomotives hauling long (sometimes up to 20 cars) passenger trains.

Sad to see what's become of the engine from Fort Wilderness. If it were to ever run again, it would a complete REBUILD!

I know of this RR and the Redwood Valley and always wanted to visit them but unfortunately it would require a cross country trip from PA :-/ Anyway, the equipment is al 5" scale so running on 15" gauge track it scales out to a scale 3' gauge kinda like 1:20.3 on G gauge (45mm) track; AKA Fn3 scale.

I miss going here virtually every weekend it was open i last went in 2011/2012 The new turntable is fantastic. But you said at the begining it changed hands. when? Did the Bautistas sell it and when?

The Bautistas own it. It changed hands since its inception in the 1960s. :D
