Tom I recently got a devils hand leather..its polyps come out 1 day and the next day they dont its shedded a few times..this has been going on for like 2 weekes..never really just came out..any ideas whats going on?..Thanks

Hi Al, some times leathers will do that. It’s most likely because it’s been moved into your tank from another. Some times they will close up for weeks. Wait and see. Don’t move it around. Leave it alone.👍🏻

Tom 2 questions how do you keep your gsp's so clean and healthy..mine always close up after like 8 months (do they need alot of flow?)..also best way to lower phosphates and nitrates besides alot of water changes..Thanks!

Hi Al, my gsp does go through its dormant period at times. The gsp in my 10 gallon was closed for about 6 weeks, then suddenly opened up again. They do need at least medium flow. Best way to lower phosphates without water change is Phosphate RX. It’s Lanthanum chloride. Just follow directions on the box. A refugium can help lower both, but not without water change. You should plan a water change schedule regardless. 👍🏻

Thank you for answering my questions. So I want to put a protien skimmer on my JBJ 28 nano. And run a c02 scrubber. What do you recommend? That aqua max bullet? I don’t have a endless budget so I was thinking the 1 over the bullet 3. What are you thoughts? And thank you for your time.

Hi Dave, I’ve never used the Aqua Max skimmer, so I can’t be of much help. However if budget is an issue, then get the least expensive one. If you keep a decent water change schedule, then the amount of skimming won’t be that critical. Also, I never needed a co2 scrubber. 👍🏻

So I got the aqua max bullet 1. And it work’s amazing. It’s dead silent too. I think I need to start dosing and using kalkwasser. I don’t know anything about either one of these. Must research

Hi Dave, I have a few videos on dosing and kalkwasser. I’ve done both for about 20 years now. I’ve dosed both at the same time, and more recently I’ve gone to 2 part only in my 75 gallon, having great success. I’d say 2 part is far more controllable then kalkwasser, however I like some of the benefits kalkwasser provides. 👍🏻

I found your videos. They are great. I need an ato for sure. What one do you recommend now? I watched a lot of BRStv on two part. I think that’s what I will do when I get a bigger tank. Now for my 28 I want to use kalkwasser in my ato like you recommended. Thank you for answering. I didn’t expect it. I hope your vacation is awesome!

Tom I got one of those hygger mini wavemakers for my 55 ..gonna get another 1 for the other side..Love it actually makes a difference just wanted a (little) more suttle flow..if it wasn't for your instructions would've probably threw it in the toilet..haha..Thanks

Hi Al, 😊glad it helps. 55 gallons is quite a bit for the hygger. You’ll definitely want 2 or 3. I guess depeding on what you are keeping. Clean it frequently, they slow when too dirty. 👍🏻😊

Hi Dave, I don’t use any controllers. Each tank runs separately. The 75 gallon is the only tank I 2 part dose. The others just water change and kalkwasser in my ato. 👍🏻😊approaching 30 years this October 😁

I’m been watching more of your videos. I have my 1st saltwater tank. It’s a 28 gal JBJ nano with led lights. I only have 5 small corals and 1 pistol shrimp and 5 saltwater Mollys. I learn a lot about how you do things like your ato setup ect. Your tanks are beautiful. That’s super cool the President left you a voice mail!!!

@@TOMReefer I dont have a great deal of luck with leathers. There is quite a bit of contradictory advice like, they like strong flow, they dont like strong flow, they like high lighting, they dont like high lighting. I have two Leathers and they look like they are just surviving.

Hi Jules, I can only tell how I’ve had success with my leather. This one is about 5 years old. I’ve had frags from this one that started to grow nice and then caught bacteria infection and melted away. So? Just make sure your parameters are ok. Also, if they are not the same, keep them apart, not close together. 😊👍🏻
