Great job Jake in corralling the yellow tangs together in one take. 😊 introducing more tangs into my 600g will be somewhat of a challenge but I plan on putting 4-5 more in there with the 7 I already have under cover of darkness. I have plenty of rock work for them to hide as well as alot of swim throughs for the fish so I’m hopeful I’ll be able to pull it off.

@alaskacosplay2 жыл бұрын
When it comes to a favorite tang, mine is the Mimic Tang since it's a more affordable option for a yellow Tang and buying them bigger and fatter is better since they have been in the store being fed the same flakes and pellets you will feed them at home. My Mimic Tang, named Melanie, is very active and loves her Ocean Nutrition Formula Two Flakes and Hikari Seaweed Extreme Sinking Pellets and even fights the damsels for the food. She's one of the more docile tangs I know but I will be adding a powder brown, a sailfin, and a white tail bristlerooth in her tank with her and maybe I'll try to redecorate the tank to reset it and they will be added at the same time.

I have a 75 gallon display, 4 feet long, with a 30 gallon sump and would like to have a pair of clownfish, 3 tangs, a yellow, a hippo and a purple along with a blue star leopard wrasse. Too many fish? I know I would have to trade back the tangs as they get too big. How would I add hem, or what order? Thanks

So if I have just a Blue Hippo Tang am I safe to add a Yellow Tang (if I ever find one lol) or a Purple Tang? I have an 80 gallon but my blue hippo is pretty small still an we plan on upgrading to at least a 100/120 gallon or larger after Christmas. Our blue hippo has been great to not a single problem with anything for her, she seems very very happy, very social an active!

Jake, I have a 4' x 2' foot tank and currently have a bristle tooth tang in it. I'd like to add 1 or 2 more tangs to my tank, which breeds would you suggest adding? my bristle tooth is about 2-2 1/2" long.
@ReefBuildersVideo3 жыл бұрын
my regular trio fo reef tanks is a Zebrasoma (yellow or scopas), convict tang, and I usually start it off with a Tomini (bristle mouth). If you add a convict and a yellow/scopas/purple at the same time you should be alright, especially if the Tomini is a little smaller and the others are a little bit bigger

I can't imagine how much 5 Yellow Tangs cost. Haven't seen them for sale for years at my LFS. I've read that you can have multiple tangs if they are different genus? That all said, I have two 6" Blue Tangs. I have some chasing, but it isn't bad. They've been together since they were much smaller though. Wish they were a pair, but no luck with that.
@MaxK-p7y6 ай бұрын
Same issue here, I got two hippos ones slightly smaller. I took him when a friends tank crashed and they were fine but i started noticing the bigger one chasing after the other and the little one hiding.. I am now revisiting trying again now that I am looking into getting a 125 6ft tank. Maybe it was due to the small tank. I am gunna try these tips. After seeing aggression I separated them. And my LFS wont take them cause they have 12” one there and he looks absolutely miserable in a 2x2, takes up the whole space
@johnatella84986 ай бұрын
@@MaxK-p7y I have mine in a 125. Both are about 5-6”. If you can, go bigger. I am looking at a 220, but it is still 6’ long, which doesn’t really change a whole lot, but it does offer me the opportunity of adding some other larger tangs…I wonder if having 3-4 Hippos would be better than 2.
@MaxK-p7y6 ай бұрын
@@johnatella8498 my budget isnt quite ready for a 220 yet but this alone will be a substantial upgrade for them both. Its a 125 6ft long too? How bad is the aggression? Any bites out of the fins or such?
