Thanks Jake!! I really hope to see more from lighting in the coming years, specifically in terms of blanket coverage with leds as well as more par meters. We're always told not to use stuff we can't test for and with lighting we don't test the spectrum or anything.. It will be cool when led light fixtures will have built in par meters that you can float sensors in the tank and relay the info wirelessly : )))))

Lots of cool stuff in the video. I've been using sicce pumps for 10+ years and pronouncing it wrong the whole time! Still got my ati bm250 skimmer. The video I'm really waiting for is Dejong Reef.

I too got a ATi BM250, however one of my Sicce pumps had the cord fray a bit and had to throw it out. Been stalling on getting a replacement, was thinking DC pump so I can ditch 2 pumps for one stronger one and just dial in what I need. That new Sicce PSK DC pump might be a contender though.

Skimmer is rated for 1500 gallons though, so it's not the model most people will get, they do have smaller models that are produced more which is why they're a bit cheaper.

From another perspective, when you look the product from outside, it's hard to understand how they decide to make that retail price, i would love to know where the cost jump when producing those units (beside the pumps). But owning many Tunzee product, the quality and efficiency is there for sure !

Well good luck with that, could be the 9415 cost about $600, this one can handle tanks about 3.75x larger, so $2000 is a nice round number. It's just the price that it is, and in the same category of "why does an iPhone cost the price it does" there might not be that much justification other than "Because we can charge that amount". Personally my question would be how accurate are the ratings on their skimmers as a whole, what is so special about that that every other skimmer that is of a similar size is rated for a much smaller tank. I mean look at the 9410, rated up to 265 gallons? Is this a rating with zero live stock? I mean the skimmer isn't even 5" in the bubble chamber.

Mike B if you read Tunze’s website, they have information set out clearly on how to size their skimmers to your tank. For a full sps reef, the 9410 should have 70% deduction from its base rating. So with full sps, it’s actually rated for about 90 gallons.

Hugo thanks for that info, Tunze might have it on their website but it's not obvious where it should be, and online stores sure don't have that info either. 90 gallon tank might be about right for that size of skimmer. SO I guess the 265 gallon tank with only 1 clownfish is what the "up to" number is for :D

thank god this hobby has become affordable. sarcasm. been doing this for 30 years and never needed any of this fancy crap. i have corals for over 20 years and nothing fancy. Some of this is really just to get your money. cool stuff, but not necessary.
