All good items, especially a PFD, no matter how good of a swimmer you are, there are other hazards to consider: fast moving waters, under-tow, being far from shore, etc. Great video Ashley, I look forward to seeing more. (Neighbor Henry)

Wouldn't hurt to have some sort of shark shield for the ocean fishing. There's a bunch of different ones on the market now days, it would just be a matter of preference.

I've been kayak fishing both fresh and salt water for 11 years. You pretty well covered it. You're right, use a marine radio and don't depend on your cell phone.

I kept a spare prop, prop nut, drive shear pin and wrench along with a multitool as a little parts and tool kit. Navarre Kayak makes a floating prop nut and wrench that is nice and lightweight for the PDL drives. I also highly recommend his aluminum rudder and rudder bolt upgrade- much more control in current than the plastic factory rudder. I kept a NRS kayak bilge pump as well but that was probably overkill.

Great video! I always carry a signaling flashlight with SOS feature. Also put reflective tape on the kayak itself. If you have the space, maybe a "sports arena" can style air horn in addition to the whistle.
