CHASING KING SALMON FROM A KAYAK | BAD ASH OUTDOORS

In August we spent a week on the Columbia river in the PNW to chase salmon from our kayaks! This video was a part of the @OldTownCanoeKayak kayak shoot, and we found our salmon! I show how we fish for salmon, how I use my @HumminbirdTV electronics to identify fish, and you see how I manage myself once we have one hooked.

Really nice video. I never have done the kayak fishing. Wish I would have when I was younger. Now because of physical limitations cannot in my Sr years. You need to try some winter steelhead fishing in the Big Manistee river in northern Michigan. They do a lot of it in boats with drift & bobber fishing with fly's. Really interesting & I bet you would love the experience there.

Your videos are well organized, and you are very well spoken. Great job! I've been fishing from a Hobie Outback for a few years. It's a challenge to net a salmon from a kayak. The best advice I can give is be patient and really play the salmon out before attempting to net one.

It's hard to do because our kayak peddle drives are locked in place. So, to allow it to pop up, Id need to unlock it which means letting go of my fishing rod!

just downstream from the mouth of the lewis, on the columbia. We launched from the beach, next to the crane training facility. Cant remember the name.

If I had a choice between a drift boat a kayak or any boat I'll go with a boat looks like it's super hard to get a fish in these kayaks

Yeah It looks tricky but once you kind of get the hang of it it's not too bad. Almost all other fish outside of Salmon are pretty dang easy
