Read this many years ago, when I was much, much younger. Hearing it read by the author, in lieu of reading for myself is quite different. It is much more poignant with the author's narration. I always thought Baldwin to be a stirring penman, extremely prolific and marvelously explicit. I thought this very short awakening moment for the writer was so eloquently shared . . . . . . that I cried then, years ago, as I still do now.......

What a wonderful voice for Mankind, an eloquent evangelist who I can easily listen to all day. Thank you James Baldwin..."there can be nothing more criminal than to attack a Man's integrity in an attempt to destroy that Man"

Any narrator other than Baldwin is a wasted effort, in audio, and almost always literary too

"Great thirsty heat..." It's funny how writers can almost predict the type of vernacular that people might use decades later.
