Jason Bateman was handsome, charming and intelligent aged 18. He still is at 50.

My gosh - JB is only 18 or 19 here. Such a pro - fielding all those questions so diplomatically. But he'd already been in the business for a decade or more

All I can see is two actors that I know have voiced Disney foxes. Sandy Duncan voiced Vixey from The Fox And The Hound and Jason Bateman voiced Nick Wilde from Zootopia.

@3:13 Sandy touches on a very interesting point in that The Hogan Family wasn’t meant to be taken too seriously. The relatively affluent economic situation of the household depicted them as being an ideal American family.

they really didn't like the question about addressing real-life families on the show

Probably because in order to do so, it would've required the show to actually treat the "passing" of the Valerie Hogan character with some dignity and respect instead of practically dismissing it altogether. It's as if the show was trying to get back at the actress by not only killing her off but nullifying her character's importance overall... "Mom died"... "really? That's nice... what's for dinner?"

I wouldn’t say the show sucked after Valerie Harper left but when I realized she was gone from the show and at the time I believe I was only 9 years old? I was crushed and concerned the show would just go down hill but instead it went sideways and later in an upward motion when audience like myself accepted Aunt Sandy kinda like when we all decided to accept Jefferson Darcy in “Married with Children” when David Garrison who played Steve Rhodes left the show. Not the best example since the sting of losing Valerie was that much more fierce but I cannot think of another analogy. In the end it worked out for both shows despite a major cast member leaving the show at its height.

I can't say I had a problem with Valerie... but for a SIT-COM. she was just too intense - always seemed angry about something. It worked better after she was gone. 🤓
