She gets multiple love interests. Like, yes Caroline is often tortured. But narrative wise, Bonnie isn't present enough (she's elena's bff and it barely feels like it) which sucks considering she is the reason many characters are even alive.

Also I just don’t think it’s fair when people say that they took everything away from her when literally almost every character in the show lost almost every family member, love interest & even their own life at one point but nobody bats an eye unless it’s Bonnie which is messed up to me. Imo it’d be hard to decide who had it worse because Matt loses his whole family, Caroline loses her family, Tyler loses his family & eventually dies as well, Jeremy lost almost every love interest & blood relative, even dies at one point. Elena would probably be the one that had it worse cause her story has no silver lining other than Damon being there. Especially since the show ends with no one truly having their happy ending other than Damon, you could say Elena kinda got her happy ending sorta because she gets reunited with her family in death but at what cost. She watched every family member of hers get taken from her, she gets used as a blood bag by Klaus for his hybrids which caused her permanent damage internally which is why Meredith Fell had to heal her with vampire blood, she dies as a teen & becomes a vampire, eventually she gets cured but 5 seconds later she gets put to sleep missing years of her life taking away the little bit of humanity she finally got back. Everyone in the show just has a sad story with no true silver lining. Other than Damon.

I don't doubt Damon loves Stefan AND Elena but some of his actions don't really align with that. Continuing to flirt with Elena is one of them. Then he gets mad when she rejects him and kills someone, maybe even someone she loves. Damon didn't even care that, IN SPITE OF THE RING, maybe it wouldn't be a very pleasant thing for Elena to witness her teacher/father figure being murdered in front of her? Then again, he killed her brother in front of her NOT KNOWING HE HAD THE RING so why would he care about that? He didn't even feed on either of them so how is that "supressing" his vampire side? A vampire's nature is to hunt, feed and kill - not torture and kill people for fun. Bill may have deserved it but that's not the point (also, he's still the father of one of Elena's best friends, the girl he claims to love so much). That Caroline and Damon fight was epic though! Elena died during the breaking of the curse by Klaus and was brought back to life by John's sacrifice. Unless the ownership to the Salvatore house was automatically reinstated once Elena came back to life, it no longer had a living human owner.

People forgetting that there is MORE to growing as a vampire, than someone simply 'telling' you or 'wishing' that you be a better person. Stefan has GROWN for DECADES. it took him more than several relapses over a century and help from a friend to deal with his past, forgive himself and grow to become the person we see today. it didn't happen in a month or two months it happened over a 100 YEARS. He grew closer to his humanity, he believes despite the fact that he is a monster that he CAN be human, he basically acts like one half the time. Damon has NOT done any of these things. he has neither come to terms with heightened emotions that he shut off for centuries, nor the horrible things he has done or have been done to him, in fact in contrast to stefan, he believes he IS a monster and should therefore act like one which is literally why he cant sit with himself this entire episode without self-sabotaging. He recognises he's about to do something bad and does it because he has had NO reconnection with humanity besides his love for elena and although that's a good thing, he still hasn't worked on anything else hence the blatant and obvious lack of ACTUAL change. love does not change you completely, in some ways it does but actual behaviours, beliefs and habits that have been ingrained in someone for over a century will not simply change overnight because of love. there is actual work and therapy set aside for that. Anybody that knows this and expects damon to suddenly be perfectly good or grow or become stefan clearly does not understand these are TWO DIFFERENT people that had TWO OPPOSITE life experiences and who are at TWO OPPOSITE times of their lives and growth.

In order for Stefan to get better and grow he had to not just switch on his humanity, he had to let all the pain and guilt he caused other people wash over him, he had to feel it and confront ALL of it. And in hindsight it's easier for Stefan because there is a part of him that blames the ripper side of himself for all that. It's a part of him he kind of can't control so he can tell himself he's not a bad person, he just has a side to him that is. But Damon is not a ripper. Because he didn't want to be a vamp in the first place when he turned he believed he had become a monster and had to act like one. He has no ripper side to blame, it's just him. And then he has the stuff he did as a human, as well as things done To him as a human that he hasn't worked on because he doesn't talk about things but prefers to hide his feelings. If he was to actually let all that in, we would have what happened to him when sibyl made him confront it. A literal shutdown. Anyone would runaway from feeling all that which is what he does the entire show. Hell thinking about it I'd probably do the same thing to spare myself pain.

It's good that they're showing Stefan's past and all the killing he's doing now so it's not just straight up good brother/bad brother but it was fun to see Caroline save her dad by tackling Damon.

Spoilers*** Don’t agree. As an avid fan of both brothers. It’s not Damon’s looks, there’s a reason people love Silas more so or Klaus, the antagonists are more FUN. Even if Ian didn’t play Damon and it was someone mediocre- I guarantee he’d still be a fan favorite because his lines are just better. People get bored with the full “good, kind, humble”. Damon’s character is also so back and forth and drives the plot quite a bit so naturally he’d be a favorite either way. The reason the show works so well is because there is a good balance of good and bad on both sides in a sense, that inner battle. Stefan with his demons and Damon with his. It makes it an awesome and fun show. PS. We see that in other shows as well, The Ghoul in fallout, John Murphy on the 100 etc

Yes, it was under Elena' name, she signed the paperwork etc, when she died it no longer had effect so since Stefan and Damon are vampires any vamp can enter. The Gilbert house Jena, Jeremy, John, or Elena can invite people in because they all live there and I believe the house was under John's name and Elena isn't 18 yet so technically she can't sign for a house, so technically any vampire can come in uninvited because John is dead (if its under Jena' name, same thing because she's also dead) the brothers probably compelled the old guy she was working with when she was signing for the Salvatore house, to make him think she's of age.

People have to remember, it took Stefan years to pull himself together after his ripper days. Cant expect Damon, the guy who didnt want to be a vampire after believing Kathrine was dead and was forced to turn via Stefan to just change his ways overnight. Also, remember Stefan did technically give a break up speech to Elena last episode. Its true that he said it to get her to leave to protect her but she has every reason to believe he is gone for good at this point.

All said and done ,Damon is a vampire. And I like that at no point does he hide his core nature. He has always been open about who he is. And I am so glad that Elena sees him for who he is. Because then it also gives her a chance to see beyond his vampiric nature ....his human side ,his human emotions . And that is what she is getting more and more attracted to. Much against her will. Much against her judgment. That's why she's fighting so hard to deny it even to herself. If Elena is going to fall totally and irrevocably in love with Damon, she's going to have to love him knowing everything about him....the good and the ugly. And to see past the ugly and discover the amazing good underneath. That's the beauty of the Damon-Elena relationship Not be blind to his faults like she often is with Stefan

It’s a terrible feeling when you’re not only trying to be your own person, but someone tries to compare yourself to them, especially when it’s your sibling. It can make you second guess and doubt yourself and that’s an awful feeling. You can clearly see the regret in her actions after his outburst. I love that you guys love Bonnie so much. If the rumors are true, she almost didn’t make it very long in the series. Series co-creator Julie Plec apparently did not like her at all and wanted to kill her off. Ian Somerhalder stepped in and said that he would quit if she was fired, saving her job. there’s a lot about this on the Internet. I feel like her treatment on the show led to the reason why she is completely disassociated herself from the rest of the cast and anything to do with vampire diaries. It’s sad.

It was all just wrong timing. With Anna, because of how sudden it was, Jeremy never had closure when she died I mean he even tried turning himself into a vamp after he found out from Damon. So, I can imagine it being hard.

As to Bryce's question whether Katherine has been invited in: after Elena was killed in the ritual she lost her hold over the Salvatore house (it's still in her name in the records somewhere maybe, but it broke her owner hold or whatever magical property), and so Katherine was able to come in in the S2 finale uninvited and continues to be able to do so. Bryce also seems slightly confused in that Katherine and the guy with the Chicago Police in the last episode were not shown interacting in any way- she noticed him and was listening to his interactions with Stefan, but they're not seen communicating just the two of them. I wonder who made that Fell chili... Also, I was laughing at Zuff saying maybe Mikael has a son, and Bryce pointing out the writers' tendency to name older characters like Niklaus and Rebekah with "k"s and that maybe meaning something for Mikael... I think these guys are onto something. As to Rob wondering why Jeremy hadn't said anything sooner: for one, we don't know how soon after the finale Bonnie left town (that's a tough conversation to have over video call). There would also be the concern that he might be going, or thought to be going, crazy, like his ancestor Jonathan Gilbert the storywriter who ended up in an asylum. There would be not wanting to worry his big sister Elena or Alaric when they're all going through so much (including Jenna and John having died recently), and maybe avoid making Liz Forbes feel guilty for catching him with a stray. I believe it's implied that it was much less frequent earlier on in the summer, and that he had actually struggled to see either girl at all for a couple of those in-between months, so he brings it up relatively promptly when it becomes a more reoccurring thing (including first to Matt when he can't hide it from him). And then, there's also the fact that Jeremy has always gravitated toward the supernatural in Mystic Falls, and has looked for a purpose for himself in that world. When he thought Vicki was living as a vampire, or had his relationship with Anna following, he thought becoming like them would be the best fit, but experiencing Damon's violence toward him in the second premiere brought an end to his vampire-wannabeism. Still, he was their Tyler-whisperer for the beginning of that season until Tyler actually become a werewolf and they turned Tyler's storylines toward Caroline, while Jeremy got more into Bonnie's witch storylines with the Martins. This is just another avenue of a teenage boy who's still mourning his parents' death a couple years ago and last guardians' earlier this summer, seeing a way to better understand the world around him, and maybe not have to lose these two girls he cared about as permanently as he believed (while all the other characters around him are having their focus drawn by other threats/pains and can't focus on him). Jeremy gets a lot of ridicule/grievance in fandom, for some pretty understandable "this kid is annoying" reasons, but there is depth to his storylines that I'm always hit with on rewatch.

I also feel Iike elena is so scared to admit her feelings for damon, she’s afraid everyone will judge her for falling for damon, but like Caroline said, “it’s means you’re human. Also to bring back Katherine’s words in the finale, she said “you can love them both I did.” I wish she would stop suppressing her feelings for damon, but I get the fear that it may be perceive wrong to others, but she needs to follow her heart, and don’t let anyone try to sway her opinion on damon. I will never reveal spoilers for future events of the show. This is how I genuinely felt when I was watching this episode for the first time. I’m just going off what my gut instinct is saying about Elena’s feelings when I’m watching this particular episode and the ones before. thanks for the advice though, I'll keep that in mind.

@ReelTimeYT I think you guys would really dig True Blood!! The way you enjoy The Boys and Vampire Diaries. It’s like The Boys how it’s sort of more realistic take on a world of super heroes existed but vampires instead of Super Heroes. It’s got lots of twists and turns and shocking moments. Except it has mystery that keeps you guessing. Oh and vast cast of characters that you’ll for sure fall in love with. Just an idea for the future on the channel. Walking Dead is another one that would be dope to see ;).

She held out hope for him for several months and risked her life to see him twice (arguably thrice) in the first three episodes of this season. And then he told her "I'm done with that part of my life. I don't want to be with you. I don't want to see you. I just want you to go." As far as he has told her himself, and Damon has told her, she is not likely to ever see Stefan again, if she does he still won't want her, and she has to move on. She has already spent months grieving, gotten her hopes up because of a phone call he made to her, and then had it all crash down on her (including seeing a list of Stefan's Ripper-days victims while hiding in his closet and dealing with the fear he would sell her out to Klaus). Stefan and Damon have written each other off for decades of their (supernaturally extended) lifetimes with less provocation before. That she allowed herself to giggle and have fun with her friend (which she has realized Damon is, in spite of her own conflicted feelings on the matter and his behavior) in a way that she had done before (at least once in S1, and if I recall correctly once also in S2) is not a betrayal of Stefan. Any more than it was a betrayal of Matt for her to date Stefan in front of him six months after they ended things.

@@saturngrey i get it, but she "looks out" for her in a very rude way, i don't think bonnie ever said any of the things she did, and I'm pretty sure she also cares about elena and looks out for her. Caroline also slept with klaus who killed elena's aunt and tortured her ( and he killed her ex's mom while they still had a thing) , yet Elena didn't judge or said anything about it, but she was the first one to say about elena when she slept with damon, and I think that at that pont everyone in the show knew damon loved elena and he would never hurt her. She also says and does a lot of shit like this throughout the series, it's not just this time. And about the sexual assaulting thing, I don't think damon compelled her to sleep with him, he saw she was down bad from the first time she saw him, he just fed on her, because besides that scene there is not a single one where they sleep together, just feeding.
