It is always a pleasure to have any Lectrosonics gear in for a look and this time it is the M2T Duet. We originally saw this one at the 2019 NAMM show, briefly on a noisy show floor, so it is really nice to have a few days to demo it privately. Leave any questions you have about this setup in the comments on the video. The comments here have been turned off due to an overwhelming amount of spam. Thanks for watching!

Hey there Thank you for always innovating I have 2 questions: 1- How much comparable is this to the PSM1000? 2- Just like Shure has the WWB software to find the best frequencies for theirs, do you have something similar for this product?
@lectrosonics
@lectrosonics Жыл бұрын
@@CGPRODUCTION.RECORDS Thanks for your comments. Since the Shure PSM1000 is analog and this is a 100% digital system, there are differences. However, both are top-level systems meant for pro touring. The price of the two systems is roughly comparable. In terms of a frequency/system management software, Lectrosonics offers Wireless Designer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5m6en1srLdniKc

A few times over the years I have had an issue come up with latency in IEMs and it was from singers. Sometimes the small delay from the IEMs can cause the singers voice which is resonating in their head to be out of phase with IEMs. The singer doesn't know what is happening but keeps asking for more volume but you push the level up and it doesn't really help. It makes the singer seem like a diva but it's not most of the time it's just a phase issue where the IEMs and the voice of the singer are out of phase with each other. So I just flip the phase on the singers mic and boom they give me a look like I just gave them a million dollars. But other than that I find most modern live mixers and good IEM systems are low enough in latency that most musicians don't even know it is happening. Great review, this system looks very interesting for a network system!

Thanks for the awesome insight, that's a really good tip. According to that AES paper I linked, apparently Sax players are also very sensitive to it, would be interesting to see if your solution helps them at all. Thanks for checking out the video.

Great video. I honestly think every IEM system review video should do things like this, recording the sound quality both on the Tx and Rx end. I can barely find any other views do things as thoughtful as this one.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I'd love to do more IEM demos in the future, it's just an expensive category to experiment in, and it's getting harder and harder to get demo gear loaned out every year. Have you seen Dave Rat's video on IEM systems? I bet you'll enjoy his channel if you haven't seen his experiments before - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKvCcppupaqIgJYsi=GwgM6XY1_07gwRbW - Thanks again!

@@DcSoundOp Yes, I followed his channel. I also watched that his waveform comparison between PSM1000, Senn G4. It's informative. I like both of yours in IEM reviewing. One is technical, one is intuitive (directly recording music from the Aux on Tx and Rx). I bought 2 Senn G4, both of them, the Rx outputs quite lot of white noise whether Tx is on or off. So I wish I knew the noise floor and sound quality demo before I purchase.

Nice job putting this together! They sound so good and love their color screen. Impressive distance through multiple walls.

Thank you! I was surprised too by how well it did with just the little included antenna and no planning. Thanks for checking out the video.

-Is there a bigger and better antenna system available for this? -idk if you’re familiar with the RF VENUE combiner, if so would it work with this?

the latency conversation is always the big deal. I would be curious to see the results of latency testing with a console that is Dante native. IE- Yamaha Dante directly to the IEM TX vs Yamaha Dante to RIO analogue output to the TX. I anticipate skipping the RIO output D2A and the TX A2D is the faster option? Did you guys try it?

I would be surprised if @shure is not working on something digital for the IEM side of things, but it is anyone's guess when we'll see it or what it will do.

Hey Erik, I haven't seen any of the Deity stuff yet, I'm not sure they send out demo model for reviews or anything. If Lectrosonics didn't do demo loaners, I'd never have the budget to get these for a video.

What type of work are you doing now? If there are any television studios (or companies that shoot contract work for bigger networks) in your area, they can be a great place to find good paying freelance audio work with gear like this.

Agreed. It’s a shame that the Shure Axient and PSM has such a stranglehold on it all.

@@DcSoundOp I've been working in theater almost exclusively. My last film gig was about a month before the pandemic. Since pit orchestras don't move around, wired headphones and headphone amplifiers get the job done. I know DC/Baltimore is a great place for TV, but I've never worked in that field (and some days I feel too old to break into a new field).

@@matthew.datcher I’ll take a wire every single time over RF if it gets the job done!! I hear you on getting into new work as you get older, it’s always a bit daunting. If you can handle the pressure and challenges of theater, I bet you’d do fine in TV.

I got excited until I saw the quoted frequency response was 10Hz - 11.5KHz,- 1db. I realise most IEMs are only quoted to 15kHz at best and most people probably can't hear that high anyway but do we think the 11.5kHz upper limit is noticable?
@DcSoundOp
@DcSoundOp 2 жыл бұрын
These don't go quite as high, but do go down to 10 Hz as you pointed out, vs the PSM-1000 only going to 35. Which part of the spectrum is more useful is debatable depending on what you're doing with them I suppose.

These days, lead time can be killer. I was hearing the other day that Shure has a 19month lead time on new PSM1000 orders. Are these Lectrosonics pieces obtainable in a reasonable timeframe?

They are in stock at B&H as well as Sweetwater right now as far as know, as well as the other big dealers (Gotham, full compass, adorama) … they all have them listed as available to ship 👍🏼

How's the battery life compared to something like the PSM 1000?
@DcSoundOp
@DcSoundOp 2 жыл бұрын
With Lithium or Eneloop Pro rechargeable, 6-7 hrs of operation is typical on the M2R packs, some folks report longer times. The Shure SB900b rechargeable for the P10R pack gets between 6 - 8 hrs on a full charge depending on how high you crank the volume…. So about the same.

If digital IEM is so good, why SHURE and sennhesier do not make one?
@DcSoundOp
@DcSoundOp 2 жыл бұрын
Doesn't seem like Shure is making much right now... everyone I've talked to says PSM1000 are WAY back-ordered. If & when they have a competitive digital product, I'm sure they'll push it out just like they have with Axient.
