Thanks much for your work and sharing ! I used a 1/8" drill bit in a power drill. ( my excuse is 1. I'm old 74 yrs 2. 53 yr old injury to wrist and forearm ) It worked ok - though had impulsive penetration after breaking through the very hard plastic. If I had to drill another cartridge I'd use a drill press to control that surge. Q - is there a difference among 243 245 245XL for the "maximum copy count" ? First 5 copies were PERFECT. Love it! I've refilled my printer ink in the past but its been a long time. I was shopping around and found this product on ebay and ordered it. I just watched it and refilled my black and color cartridges. It was easy and very cost effective to refill my cartridges with this product. The videos are new, in the past I didn't have them. Refilling is always a sustainable way, now necessity since original PG-243 & CL-244 cartridges aren't readily available & extremely limited supply if actually made any longer by Canon. Among Central Ohio, literally no usual sources & stores have them, but fortunately able to find a re-manufactured XL by Meijer. Btw, does this kit include the chip reset device or any method to perform that?

So I used this for my canon 2522 printer and I followed the tutorial step by step but my ink levels still show as low, and my prints print out with white lines in the middle of some of the words and it looks faded. I’ve already tried to do the head alignment thing and it still did not work. Is there any way I can fix this without having to buy a new ink cartilage?

Do you screw the hole there the top part when you peel back ? Or on the bottom where it says cannon ?

For the black, look for a hole, underneath the top label. If you count the grid from the bottom, from left and goes up, it's #5 grid. The hole is very tiny. For black XL, the hole is in the middle. The color holes are Magenta on the top, cyan (blue) on the left and yellow on the right.

Canon made the PG-243 and PG-245 having a much smaller sponge, so it limits the amount of ink it can hold. You can add more but they are going to leak out anyway. The cartridge will be balanced at how big the sponge is. The PG-245XL has a much larger sponge.

Might need to a pull on the overfill tool. If an air bubble is in there it could ping that.

Of course, use the starter until you knock the daily light out of it. Don't throw it away because you will be getting better unclogging it, so you will be able to revive it later.

How do you plug the recessed hole on the black cartridge? Or do you just tape over the entire slot?

You only need to cover it to avoid dirt falling in. Don't seal it airtight. So a desk tape will do.

I just refilled the black cartridge. It is printing fine but the ink level monitor is still reading low level. Can this be fixed?

The ink monitor is a one-way counter and records printed pages. Once the page count reaches the maximum, you can turn it off and let the cartridge print forever. However, you cannot do this before the counter reaches the maximum. When the ink counter reaches the maximum, your printer will show an error message window: “The following cartridge has run out.” Do not close this window on the computer. With this window open, go to the printer and press and hold the STOP (triangle) button for 5 seconds, and the error window will disappear. This will turn off the ink monitor. If you are not sure how to do it, watch this video, beginning at the 3:15 mark: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oau0h4ugl9eNa7M The cartridge lights should be blinking yellow (which is okay) after you turn off the ink monitor. If your printer hasn’t shown the above error message and instead shows an “ink is low” warning, you can keep using the printer until you encounter the error message. You cannot turn off the ink monitor before the counter reaches the maximum. Therefore, you can ignore the low ink warning and just keep using the printer. If you worry about the LED light, it should go as follows: when the printer counter is reaching 85% of its maximum, the light will be steady yellow. You should ignore this and the low ink warning on the computer and keep using the printer. When it reaches the maximum, both the cartridge light and the hazard light will be blinking and an “Error 1686/1688” window will be displayed on your computer. Follow the step above to turn off the ink monitor. After the ink monitor is turned off, the LED light will be blinking yellow (which is good). If you don’t like the blinking yellow, you can put a piece of duct tape to cover it.

I think you mean the air hole. Is it round and there is a tiny pin hole in the middle? Yes, that's the spot.

I will have to get your kit. The one I got before came with big bottles of ink and syringes and it had bled all inside my printer twice! The little thing you click on it to make sure there isnt too much ink and the pump things so you only pump it so many times is so much better!

You probably overfilled it. You can wrap it with a paper towel and use a vacuum cleaner to suck extra ink out.

You don't need to get a new printer. There is no electronic part underneath the printer, so leaked ink won't damage the printer. What is wrong with the printer now? May be I can help you to sort it out.

I have a 2522. I've been buying new printers when they run out. As you said, it's cheaper. How many prints will a refill give?

A refill can print about the same number of pages as a new cartridge, 100-150 pages in your case. Each cartridge can be refilled 3-5 times. However, if you convert them into a spongeless cartridge, it can print 400-500 pages each refill. See our test here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4fGfaCXfbannck. In my opinion, if you've done it right, you should get 10-15 refills out of these spongeless cartridges.

This one is the "regular" size, which is non-XL. The XL cartridge will have a thinner cover and thus a bigger sponge.

Do it for 2-3 refills. Once you are good at it, you may want to consider convert it to spongeless cartridge, so you can fill the whole thing without worry about it.

It all depends on how wet the cartridge is. Some people buy the milligram scale ($15 on eBay, weight limit 100 g) which meth dealers use and weight the cartridge.

Hey Kevin, ink starts dripping out when I turn the bottle down to refill and ink spills all over the cartridge, and keeps coming out and dnt letting me press it to pump the ink in cartridge , so I am nt sure if I am refilling it or just spilling it on the surface How to fix this

Give it a little space between the needle and the sponge. Let the ink drop on sponge. If you see ink overflowing, you probably adding too much.

Try hot water first. Use distilled water if you can. Heat it up with microwave to very hot but not boiling. We don't recommend alcohol or other household cleaners.

ok thank you for that info. Is all black ink the same? I have the mg3022 and just bought a 1oz bottle off ebay to try. Would it be better to use a good drill bit on cordless drill?

For the best result, use pigment black ink. Dye black works fine if you are not super picky. Use one type of ink at a time. If you have a cordless drill, it's the best way to go.

I mean, the black can take either pigment or dye. The color (cyan, magenta, yellow) should be kept on dye ink.

You are right. It doesn't matter. If you look carefully, there is a tiny hole in the middle-left side of the cover. I like to drill there. However, a hole is a hole, it doesn't matter at all.

Now you have holes in the ink cartridges that will cause the ink to dry up and also cause buildup within the cartridges. There should be some sort of new sticker to place over to seal. 🤦‍♀️
