I never realized how insane your picking technique was. Your doing aggressive sweet picking that turns into taping all up and down the fretboard. I’d love to know what you did to practice and develop that form of speedpicking. Your tapping almost as much as Tosin. That bluesie solo is really unique as well. So sad instead of having this on the radio every musician plays I IV VI V chord progression with no key changes over and over and over again.

I dont get it man. like the top comment on this video is so retarded. he clearly has never listened to classical. where there are no repeated parts or 'choruses'/riffs and the transitions are arguable just as abrupt. i mean thats the whole reason i love new bands coming out with this stuff cuz its honestly like the rock or metal equivelant of beethoven
@theohill40309 жыл бұрын
Rusty Santos I don't get it man. You obviously have no idea about the structure of classical music, pretty much all forms of classical have repeated parts and most have transitions
@luked19379 жыл бұрын
Rusty Santos That comparison makes little sense. Classical music is laden with repetition, and often tonally far more advanced than a lot of reflections' music. They are not all that similar.

Anyone who is capable of admitting that they "dont get it" have openly admitted to have no taste what-so-ever..... There isn't supposed to be a "riff" for you to remember, its called a fucking feeling your supposed to feel. Thats called music..... thats called art..... Go listen to some jazz and try to hum one "riff" oh wait, you wont be able to. Go listen to some classical, oh, no repeating riffs? Can't enjoy it. You have openly admitted to have a simple mind, which is fine, just don't talk about something you have no clue about....
@rodrigoperez2448 жыл бұрын
+Christopher Warren Are you really trying to compare this try-hard pseudo-prog metalcore to Classical Music and Jazz? A riff is a theme dude, it could even be a progression. This hasn't got anything. This is a song with random parts that have no coherence with one another. Terrible transitions and progressions. The structure is amateur-ish and all over the place. Wank for the sake of wank. One-note breakdowns for the sake of "muh heaviness". Not even a single feel. Every part is generic as fuck. The song is just an undirectional mess. Don't try to think too high of yourself because you like this ridiculuous song. "It's called a feeling"... mmmh what? Really? This hardly got any feeling. Sounds derivative and sterile. This is shit for the birds. ex. Here... have some actually good bands: Exivious, Gordian Knot, Planet X, Animals As Leaders.. you know, bands that have got songs with actual direction and purpose, not like this try-hard band.

+Roderick Peterson You sound like a pretentious ass. Like you fucking know anything about expressing/feeling emotion. I can say this due to your cold breakdown of music.
@Iced0utSamsung8 жыл бұрын
+Roderick Peterson if you could plz sir back up your argument using scales and transitional notes... btw many classical musicians had multiple key and scale changes in one song to create a different kind of "feel" or "effect" on the type of music they were writing. If you took just one music theory class you would know that LMAO. but still if you can back your point up with music theory (which I highly doubt) it would still be invalid cause music choice is an opinion and music theory is just a way to describe music so good job making yourself look like and jackass

their ideas are good and without doubts they play on a higher technical level, BUT: i think this song has no structure at all. Where are the Riffs? I'm not talking about generic chugs or guitar wankery, I'm talking about actual riffs... where are they? Most of these metalcore, djent, deathcore """prog""" bands (the popular shit in the USA) seem to care more about faux technicality instead of good recognisable songwriting. They absolutely can play, but their music is inconsistent and lazy. The only way to recognise a single part from this song would be listening to it 10x times in a row, because it's pretty generic.
@maxetherington147110 жыл бұрын
If 0:51 isn't a riff then I dunno what is
@Spacekamii10 жыл бұрын
I see your point, but you also have to think that music in itself is progressive. Music has progressed from leather skin drums and chants to this. And to move on from something like riffs is no different. I personally think this can be seen has a potentially great thing that the typical style is being obstructed and reformed.
@matthewsinist3r10 жыл бұрын
It's easier to play a couple of chords and riffs. If you want a band that's technical and has great music and is a current band in the metal genre look up Chon, and listen to the album newborn sun. But don't bash these guys because there are many riffs in this song, but music has become much more technical and scientific in it's approach. But there are tons of riffs in this song, but these guys play in dissonance. There is an all new song structure. Not everything is 4/4, and layered in repetition my friend.
@rodrigoperez24410 жыл бұрын
matthewsinist3r Man, I listen to progressive music all day. There isn't a theme in these guys music, even Chon has 'themes' and recognisable riffs (I love them, but I hardly would say they are Metal, they are closer to Math Rock). Even Spastic Ink and Spiral Architect, bands that are ridiculuously technical and progressive, have recognisable melodies and themes between all their wank and constant shifting of time signatures. What I hear here in Reflections music is just random wank (ocassional riff here and there) with no actual purpose, a simple show off of technical abilities instead of actually making progressive music with an actual theme or idea. Listen to 'A quick affix' by Spastic Ink just to give you an idea of TECHNICAL Prog metal with purpose, not shitty sweeps with chugs like Reflections :v
