Hi, how many settings do you have on that float chamber? I've bodged together a Dutch Maatschappie float chamber with 6 settings (and a thermostat) onto a Refleks body I found and a boat scrap yard with no regulator. But the instructions on the top are worn away - any guesses as to which settings to be used for startup and then running appreciated...

@@gurglejug627 you can start up ar any settings. I never do it on max though, because if the startup fails, too much diesel has ti be wiped out of the chamber before new start up

@@SailingBlueBird thanks so much. Just to get an idea as to whether the 'new' float chamber is working - if you had to guess, how much diesel do reckon it should feed per minute on max? Is it actually visible in drips per minute? And the cleaning rod - should it's end face up or down and how far out should it be for running? Gosh it's 35 years since I had one of these, all forgotten... but great stoves

@@gurglejug627 0.12 litres per hour on low and 0.3 litres per hour on high. These don't drip feed as such, not like the Taylors heaters. From memory, you can pull the cleaning rod half way out and it doesn't matter about the position of the lever. I hope this helps. Nice little heaters. Oh' you can still purchase a new regulator if you need to.

@@human6.045 thanks for the help and info there. It turns out the settings are all very simple - 1 to 6 = little oil to 'lots' and there seems to be no other effect but linear rate of flow control. Leaving it on 6 allows the thermostat to do its own regulation from there. The heater is working fine after running an hour or so outdoors to clear 'clear out the cobwebs'. Dead simple - and there was me looking for complications. Thanks again.

@@gurglejug627 Has your regulator (the non original one you fitted) have a themostat? I have read there are those types of regulators around...I'm interested. Oh' and cheers. Glad you are all sorted. Sorry, had to edit after reading your original comment. Could you please give more details on the thermostate, make model. I guess it's a simple setup, adding the thermostatic control valve, is it positioned inline and before the regulator, is it low down or did you raise it higher? I'd imagine the higher the thermostat the better. Thanks again.
