Reforestation and anti desertification in Lhasa Tibet with water efficient Groasis Waterboxx

How China locks up sand dunes, to prevent them from blowing away. First they use straw. Then between the straw they use the Growboxx® plant cocoon to plant trees. The trees lock up the sand dunes with their roots. You see that this is an effective method to protect houses from sand storms.

it's a very common practice in northern China. it's called straw square. from the look of it this is volunteer work, not government initiated. in Tibet in recent years the effort of the government that I know of is mainly ecological migration. many herders of yak are commissioned by the government to stop herding in certain areas and become the patrolmen of the National reservoir etc.
