"Desire to do good works to GET in God's favor" is a complete misrepresentation of the Catholic position. So, if you're merely speaking of anecdotal observance of what certain lay-people might think, you can't use that to judge the system as a whole.

This was odd. He knows that like, no one besides protestants think we re sacrifice jesus right?

Just googled what "Reformed Catholicism" was. They essentially are protestant. Bunch of liberal Catholics got together and created it in 2016. Bill themselves as "Progressive, Open, and Affirming."

Literally spews heresy at the end. Thanks for showing me that not everyone who calls himself a Catholic is of The Church started by Jesus Christ Himself. I guess you learn something new everyday

There is only ONE Catholic Church. If you don't obey the Church and the pope. You are not part of The Catholic Church. No matter how much you call yourselves Catholic, you yourselves have broken away from the Church.
@hosatk6 ай бұрын
You don't have to "obey the Pope". That is not in the Catechism. If the Pope tells you to abort babies, that's still a sin.

@@hosatkno, but you still have to defer to the magisterium, and that includes the primacy of the Pope in settling disputes
@hosatk6 ай бұрын
@@jaqian Not really. Believe it or not, there are Catholics who believe you have to obey the Pope. There are Catholics (who I know) that misunderstand papal infallibility & essentially crown the pope king. So, yeah, the words one uses matters, because "obey" is not the correct word. Defer might be better, as one of the commenters pointed out.

"When you drill down deep..." *proceeds to describe what the Church doesn't believe and teach* So... just how deep did you drill down, exactly?

You are either intentionally or unintentionally conflating two positions. The classic Protestant misunderstanding of Catholic teaching about the mass, is that it claims to re-sacrifice Jesus. The actual Catholic position is that the one sacrifice of Christ is made present ar every Mass - God can do this because he outside of time, not limited by time. So, if you are saying "We don't do the sacrifice of the mass", then I don't think you are a Catholic, "reformed" or not. I think you are just a protestant.
@peterlombard22926 ай бұрын
This is an example of exceptionally poor (and spiritually dangerous) theological understanding. That someone would say "we don't do the sacrifice of the mass", ignores centuries old practice and tradition, endorsed by people who were there at the time. If anyone were in any doubt about this I recommend Mike Aquilina's book "The Mass of the Early Christians". Also, and more worrying, is the idea that Jesus is somehow understood to be "re-sacrificed". Whatever that is, it certainly isn't part of Catholic teaching. The Mass is both a sacrifice and a memorial and re-presents (makes present) the one sacrifice of Christ on the Cross in an unbloody manner. The Mass is considered the "source and summit" of the Christian life (Lumen Gentium, 11). It is through the Eucharist that Catholics understand they receive Christ Himself and are empowered to live out their faith in the world.

We are made present to the sacrifice of Jesus which was made "once and for all" . In fact it is an eternal sacrifice still ongoing that we participate in, uniting ourselves through our High Priest to the Father! What are these guys doing? How do they have liturgy without sacrifice?

You have to understand, for us who are not under this delusion, this is like watching grown adults arguing about which version of Santa Claus is the real Santa Claus. This is below humanity.

Lol I’m not even Catholic but there’s no way you just said the “doctrines of grace” are patristic. Getouttahere
