Wall fridges are such a lifesaver when it comes to keeping my kitchens and freezers clean. I also didn't know about the Frosty beer buff so that was really useful too

For years I never really used this because it was more expensive than a traditional freezer and required more micromanaging, but over my last few playthroughs I’ve used them a lot, it’s super convenient to place little eating areas with a fridge and a table all over the map in areas where my colonists often go, since it prevents them eating without a table or wasting 4 hours walking home. On my current tribal save I’ve used them a bit too, my game is set up so that I can’t develop anything beyond medieval tech and all my tech was scavenged using RealRuins, so I’ve been useing the rimfridges until I get proper coolers since having any way to preserve food is better than nothing.

Decoherent taught me to have wall fridge in my hospitals - for healroot/herbal meds. like the kitchen setup it can be topped up from outside and used from inside, and effectively takes up no space! also if you use the stews mod, uncooked stews can be stacked in the fridges, a 1x1 fridge holds 10 stews (of same type), which take 3 days each to cook, and make 10 meals on completion. so - a 1x1 fridge can hold 100 meals!

I'm just here to listen to you, but the mod is good too. Been using it since I saw it in a friend's game. 3:03 you can also turn that wall fridge from 1x2 into 2 1x1, with one only storing meat and the other only storing vegetables. That way gets easier to make more advanced meals (after a raid, they deserve at least fine meals :) )

I have a wall fridge with herbal medicine between my drug production area and the prison medical area. That way they both get to share from the one source and as you said, it's still a barrier so they can't try and bust out that way either. Actually the drug production area has multiple rimfridges. Cheers for the content.

I too use this arrangement in my prisons. Just be warned that the wall fridge is viewed as a structural weak point by any rioting prisoners. They'll bust through the fridge in seconds, destroying its contents, but knowing this, one can prepare for it. I tend to favour multiple single wall fridges rather than dual wall fridges. Once breached, the remaining single wall fridges usually remain unharmed as the escaping prisoners now opt for the path of least resistance. I also set up an embrasure wall within the drug lab to further stymie any uprisings.

Definitely adding this mod. My desert Hotel will benefit from this. Keep guests out of my freezer and the fridges in the shopping area would be awesome. Even fridges in the hotel rooms(barracks). Great video.

I've never bothered with Rimfridge because I just don't need it, but after seeing the cool layout you made, I'm gonna add it to my next run just for rp. I like the idea of being able to pass things through a wall to the other side so that the kitchen stays clean, but I REALLY like the idea that it seems like a cafeteria service. That said, I hate the idea of pawns eating everything cold (that's actually the main reason I just use a shelf in dining room). Maybe I need a mod for a microwave? Never thought I'd bother with the mod, but mind changed!

Could you also do a hospitality explanation? I just started a colony with hospitality mod, i didnt realize visitors get pissed off when i didnt get them places to sleep or sell them food. I had no idea until their mood got worse and left..

So far, this was the only most subscribed mod in Steam that I haven't used. Not sure why, but I do like idea of a walk-in fridge in Rimworld so that's why I'm still not using this.

Short and informative Video, i was actually looking for this Mod a while ago. Little Side Note. For your big Walk in Freezer, use the new Animal Flaps from 1.3 as Doors. They dont let Temperature through so you dont need to build Airlocks or worry about it getting too warm in the Desert if your Pawns go in and out a lot.

something I struggle with when using this mod, is that I have trouble splitting up my stacks over multiple fridges. Is it possible to cap out the stack sizes of these fridge stockpiles?

You can't cap the sizes of stockpiles unfortunately. But each fridge only holds 1-4 stacks of meals depending on size, so it's not that much to begin with. Are you using a stacking mod that allows for bigger stacks? If so, I would recommend tweaking those mod settings. I use Stack XXL and have set both the XL and XXL multipliers to 3. So instead of stacks of 10, meals stack up to 30... instead of stacks of 75, wood stacks up to 225. It helps keep there from being 250 meals in one fridge.

I been playing rimworld forever and have rimfridge installed possibly longer than forever, and i still found this video useful and interesting. Like even just to have the confirmation that wallfridges block temperature like an actual wall, even tho probably obvious, was still nice to hear. And also great idea for the cantine style cookingstation. So maybe not be snarky and judgy about the validity of a video :)
