Wish I could afford your axes man. You definitely need to try and make an axe with the phantom bevels.

Keep the dark finish on the handles for this collection. 2021 restoration series. They are beautiful. Great job guys!

I don’t mind a fully shined up axe head, not all of them, but if it’s nothing special and bare of markings then a nice mirror polish shine and a new handle really spruces up an old axe head. That phantom bevel is so wicked too, love how u polished it 👍

Loving these vids. Keep the dark finish. It makes them more of a series and less of a random project. Super cool!

Tim, grab a set of cabinet scrapers and use those to remove the varnish from the axe handles. They work a lot faster and easier than sanding it off. I learned that from Wranglerstar.

Hi Tim from Tasmania. That plumb you have looks like a US style and is a bit lighter than the ones I have with that added wedge up the center. Tassie plumbs usually range from 4.5 to 5 pounds weight and have both a splitting and a cutting profile. Love this project and having a look at your pricing I can see that I am going to have to raise mine quite a bit. Best for Christmas to you and your loved ones.

Be cool to weld an edge of tool steel onto one of the axe heads. Then etch the head to reveal a fake hamon line. Could also use a rotary tool and a good tungsten carbide bit to carve some art into the side of a head or just mask with rubber resist and sand blast designs or lettering onto it.

You should try wet sanding the rust off one of the heads, it leaves lots of patina and character 👌 thats what i like to do to mine.

I have seen a lot of your videos and saw how you anodized different tools. Have you ever thought about anodizing an axe head like a matte black color and keeping the blade the original color of the steel? Just something I think would be cool, anyway love the videos!

You should make one of the bigger ones in a Viking style but with a somewhat shorter handle than the 35”

The phantom beveled axe would have been better if you'd included a 16 inch handle so the new owner could decide if they wanted a shorter handle

Try out some new stuff on the axes, they probably won't owe you much, and you get to try new stuff on something that hasn't taken you much time (relative to the time it takes to forge a brand new head). Turn one in to a bearded axe, a viking axe, a tactical axe, a throwing axe. Sure it's not your style, but it's time to learn man!
