As a nurse I will never call someone doctor if they are not an MD. I had a home care client whose primary care provider was a DNP but my coworkers and I never called her a doctor. In some states it's illegal for nurses with a Ph.D. to refer to themselves as doctors in a clinical setting or via business cards. They could do so in a social setting but if they can't at work why bother? The biggest problem is that it confuses patients. But if a nurse practitioner is a primary care provider and can prescribe medications while other people who cannot are referring to themselves as doctors why should I agree? A DNP is more like an MD than the woman in this video. If she wanted to be called a doctor so bad she should've gone to medical school. She showed she had the intellectual aptitude. I don't understand it. Jill Biden is not a doctor either.

Rosario didn’t like what the man on the zoom (who is actually on the committee, unlike her) meeting had to say so she made a big deal of being a doctor. Doctor of public health, known as DrPH. She did an online degree program from a college in California. She’s not a real doctor. I have a bachelors in computer science and physics, and am a PhD physics student. I don’t plan on making strangers refer to me as doctor...ever. It seems like Rosario enjoys trying to talk down to people when conversations don’t go in her favor.

As a former NCO as well, I do not feel ANY obligation to call a commissioned officer by rank (Unless I was a DOD employee working on an Army base) Other than that, if he is jus my neighbor, FIRST name it is... As a teen I would go on base with my Grandfather who was retired military and he addressed everyone he knew by their rank and last name. One lesson he instilled in me was respect doesn't cost a dime. I'm fully retired military and civilian, I address everyone even younger people in a respectful manner. When I go to a restaurant the waiter/waitress may be 40+ years younger than me but I still say ma'am or sir. Respect doest cost a dime.

The conduct of this (since appropriately terminated) was obviously both racist and misogynistic. For those who don’t know, there are MD.s and Ph.Ds, which stand for Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy respectively. Persons acquiring these degrees are respectfully addressed by the earned prefix of “Doctor,” as extensive time, study, research, applied laboratory work, writing and financial investment went into their acquisition of such a credential. Unfortunately, it’s usually those who either possess no degree, or who, in this case, obviously suffer from social supremacist delusions, have the most difficulty bringing themselves to give due respect to a person such as Dr. Cassie Rosario. We've known for years that racism plays a role in all aspects of our society. Will it ever change? The fight to educate oneself used to be huge in the African American communities the ancestors fought hard for that, have people become so complacent and ignorant that they forget and don't care? Tbh, this is bs, my best friend has an engineering PhD and hates being called “doctor” it’s not why he got it, but it’s quite obvious why she got hers. Not to mention, she’s young and obviously lacks the wisdom to understand that people aren’t cookie cutters, you can’t deal with all folks the same way especially someone who is old enough to be your grandfather. I am African-American and I have a doctorate from the University of Oxford. The woman was rude. In the United States, no one genuflects to anyone else. Moreover, "Mrs." is an honorable title. "Dr." is most certainly not part of her name.
