I myself am a follower of the Nashibandi tariqah and I consider myself as a student of your extensive seerah. If i disagree on some of your view (not your facts, but their interpretations), I can only praise the honesty of your sentiments and the respect you have on the matters of ightilaf. The content you provide is of high value in english language and provide a good insight o the seerah. May Allah bless you and reward you for your work.

What are these tariqahs? is it coming from quran, sunnah?
@mateobelanger7925
@mateobelanger7925 2 жыл бұрын
@@shifeq9770 Salam Luqman. It is like mandhab. Hanafi, hanbali, maliki and shafii are all based on quran and sunnah, but are not mention in the quran. So are the tariqah : based on quran and sunnah. There is different school (mandhab) in fiqh, different school in theology (aqidah) and there is also different school (tariaqh) in "Ihsan". This is that simple. Some of the tariqah have a more "experimental" way of seeing things, and thus this might be problematic for some people of other school that are more literalist. Also the act of following a shaykh for spiritual guidance and taking bayaa (allegiance) is considered by the people of tariqah to be a sunnah, as the companion took bayaa to the Prophet saws. I don't mean to go into a debate and justification of the sufism and all its details, its right and wrong. Just be aware that the tariqah base their things on the quran and the sunnah, might you agree or not.

@@shifeq9770 brother as per my knowledge, the word Sufi is derived from the Ashab as Sufa (the people who were living or attached to the Suffah -a shelter behind the mosque of Muhammad saw-) it's root goes back to the time of the Prophet saw. Allah knows best.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم The Sheikh has a very fair understanding, spreads peace and good manners among Muslims. A true sufi follows the creed of ahlu sunna, the fiqh-schools, loves and honours every word of Quran and sunna. There is no union with Allah ﷻ, the destination of a sufi is exact what is written in the holy quran: love, nearness, mercy, forgiveness of Allah. There can be feelings and experiences of union, but there is no union between the ruh and Allah ﷻ according to the scholars and the greatest sufi-masters like Imam Rabbani or Sheikh Ahmad Rifai. A sufi needs very good aqida- knowledge, otherwise he will be confused by his experiences. Ma a salama Abul Abbas

So... the theology is sounding a whole lot like Gnosticism, but the practice is sounding like Second Temple era Jewish Hekhalot mysticism, which itself influenced Early Christianity through Paul, Eastern Orthodoxy and even Mormon mystical practice, with the different stations on the way to the veil and the presence of God. I wonder what the actual transmission route was.

@Ibraishah Abdullah Sufism isn't Islam. The ways of Tasawwuf are vague and the reality about Ihsan is incomprehensible by Muslims in general. Ihsan is attained by Following the Sunnah which the Sahabas did, not following the so called Philosophers who have ambiguous theories on what reality is. Islam is perfect the way Rasool s.a.w bought it and it will remain perfect as long as we follow the Sahabas, the three early generations and the senior scholars who gave their life for Educating people about Islam.

How can a chained man understand the world of the unchained man. Their are levels in this deen. We should have the humility to recognizing the world of the men of dhkir, is not like our world. Imam Suyuti, considered Shaykul Islam in his time, and is today a huge source of understanding of the Quran and Sunnah, protected Ibn Arabi from the takfiris. At least, say Allahu a'lam, is much safer than calling his views for kufr, without fully understanding them

It is his simplistic misunderstanding of great Masters like ibn Arabi. So don't think that based on this lecture you could possibly understand what they affirm or deny. Clearly he doesn't either. A more reasonable approach and closer to his and our level, as compared to Ibn Arabi's level, would have been to say that such people are only for the spiritual elite and the rest of us should stay away and stick to basics because it is sure that we will misunderstand their thought and will be led astray. After all, isn't it a fact that even people who think they are following the Quran and the Sunah often go astray? That's why lots of humbleness is needed for the common muslim and for the scholars alike. We are too small compared to man of God, Awliyallah. They are the real followers of Quran and the prophets, not little people like us and most of scholars. You can't impress God with ignorance (common muslims) nor with degrees (religious scholars).

@@knightdave1986 " Allah's deen is clear and simple ". Sure, Allah's creation also is clear and simple, how much of it you understand though? Are you a nuclear scientist, do you know quantum physics, do you know high mathematics? What do you know? And you assume that there is no such thing as highest knowledge in Islam also, not accessible to the common man, just like those sciences are not accessible to most? Yes, there is knowledges in this deen just for the spiritual elite. Me and you should be grateful that Allah in his mercy has provided a way for the rest of us, which is the basics of our deen. That however dosen't mean that everything can be brought down to our level and assume that can be made simple to fit into our little minds. This is very basic thing to understand so you can put things on the right context.

Imam Ahmad Didn't Praise Sufis or Sufism Fatwa No: 408061 Fatwa Date:1-12-2019 - Rabee' Al-Aakhir 4, 1441Email Print Rating: Question I have heard that Imam Ahmad praised Sufis and said that they only do Raqs (dance) out of joy/love/emotion for Allah S.W.T. Is this true? And if not then what did he say about them. And also is it permissible to move, or sway or dance during the Majalis of Dhikr because it is an expression of deep emotion and love? And also Imam Ahmad reported in his Musnad a Hadith of Anas R.A from Rasul S.A.W where the Abyssinians performed some play with their weapons and danced in front of Rasulullah S.A.W and recited words of praise of Rasul S.A.W. Does this mean that it is permissible to dance out of joy or to move out of love and emotion when remembering Allah S.W.T or Rasul S.A.W. Could you please clarify from the views of scholars like Al Ghazzali and Imam Ahmad and such big scholars. Jazak Allahu Khairan Wassalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu Answer All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger. We have no knowledge of the claim that Imam Ahmad may Allaah have mercy upon him praised Sufism in its totality, or that he justified their dancing and gave them excuses to do so as an act of worship. In fact, Sufis are not all the same; some of them are righteous, while others are wicked. The terms “Tasawwuf” and “Sufism” appeared relatively late, and were not known during the best first three virtuous generations of Islam; but were introduced and widely used later on. The phenomenon of “Tasawwuf” first emerged in Basra as its people were known to be extremely ascetic, devout worshippers, fearful of Allah, and the like. In its early beginning, Tasawwuf was a sound practice (devoid of Sharee‘ah violations) and some prominent Muslim scholars, who were known for their knowledge, asceticism, and religious prudence, practiced Tasawwuf like Al-Junayd may Allaah have mercy upon him. However, those scholars practiced it within the framework of the Sharee‘ah. In essence, Tasawwuf was prompted by the intent to promote praiseworthy asceticism, denouncement of worldly pleasures, devotion to worship, self-discipline, and commitment to refined morals, in order to overcome the countertrend of hedonism and overindulgence in worldly pleasures at the time. Afterwards, different groups of people, who were given to religious innovations and heresy, claimed to practice Tasawwuf, giving rise to multiple sub-groups and diverse categories of adherents. Contemplating the contemporary Sufism, one realizes that it abounds in religious innovations and acts of Shirk. The late Sufi adherents are dramatically different from their predecessors, as they practiced many religious innovations and deviated from the correct path. For example, they introduced some practices like worshipping Allah, the Almighty, through dancing, jumping, whirling and swaying while reciting Thikr (mention of Allah), all of which are considered deniable religious innovations according to the consensus of Muslim scholars. Many scholars from various approved mainstream schools of Fiqh declared such acts as religious innovations and strongly denounced them. Were it not for the sake of brevity and our adherence to the website’s policy in answering English questions concisely, we would have cited for you many statements of Muslim jurists in this regard. However, we shall cite below some statements as examples. It is stated in the Maaliki book Fat-h Al-‘Aliyy Al-Maalik fi Al-Fatwa ‘ala Math-hab Al-Imam Maalik by the Maaliki scholar ‘Ulaysh may Allaah have mercy upon him: “Imam Abu Bakr At-Tartooshi, may Allaah have mercy upon him, was once asked: ‘What is your opinion on the school of Sufism? Note, may Allah protect you, that it is practiced by some men who mention Allah and (invoke blessings on) His Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) abundantly. They beat drums made of leather with sticks; some of them dance and start screaming and shaking until they faint, and then they serve food. Is it permissible to attend their gatherings? Please advise, may Allah reward you.’ He may Allaah have mercy upon him replied: ‘May Allah have mercy upon you. The ideology of Sufism abounds in ignorance, falsehood and error. Islam is no more than what is found in the Quran and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). However, dancing and ecstasy were first introduced by As-Saamiri when he made a statue of a calf having a mooing sound, and people danced around it in ecstasy. Thus, such a practice is the way (the religion) of the disbelievers and worshippers of the calf. As for the stick and drum, they were first used by the heretics to distract Muslims from the Quran. On the contrary, the Companions used to sit with the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) as if there were birds perched on their heads out of solemnity. Therefore, the Muslim ruler and his deputies should prevent those people from gathering in mosques and other places. It is not permissible for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day, to attend their gathering or help them practice their falsehood. This is the adopted opinion of Maalik, Abu Haneefah, Ash-Shaafi‘i, Ahmad ibn Hanbal and other Muslim Imams may Allaah have mercy upon them. Verily, success is granted by Allah, The Exalted.’” [End of quote] Moreover, Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah may Allaah have mercy upon him said: “As for dancing, this was not enjoined by Allah, The Exalted, or His Messenger sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) or any of the early Muslim scholars. Rather, Allah Says in His Book (what means): • {And be moderate in your pace} [Quran 31:19] • {And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily...} [Quran 25:63] The term “easily” in the second verse denotes walking with calmness and serenity. Muslims worship their Lord by bowing and prostration.” [End of quote] As for the story of the Abyssinians who were playing in the mosque, it is irrelevant because the Abyssinians played with spears as a training in carrying weapons or to display their skills. It was not intended as a devotional act of worship and did not involve dancing while reciting Thikr. Ibn Hajar, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said in Fat-h Al-Baari: “Some Sufis bring forth this Hadeeth as evidence to prove the permissibility of dancing and listening to musical instruments. However, the majority of scholars refuted such inference due to the difference of purpose; for the Abyssinians’ playing with spears was for the purpose of training for war, and so, the Hadeeth cannot be used as evidence to support the permissibility of dancing for amusement purposes.” [End of quote] For more benefit on Sufism, please refer to Fataawa 82017, 31043, 31031, and 29243. Allah knows best.

Islam is the middle path and we should not follow extremes in any case. Wahabisam is one extreme and those follow sufism ignoring shariat is another extreme. Wahabisam is a food with no seasoning and salt, so a food for sick people, and extreme sufies destroy food with tons of salt and seasonings. The right balance i find in imam al Gazali's book Ahya Ulumuddin.

I argue Tasawuf is a way of thinking that emerged from Hellenism syncretized into Islam. Hellenism being Greek philosophies which included Hindu concepts. Both Judaism and Christianity were profoundly altered by Hellenism as was Islam. Hellenism includes Pythagorianism, Platonism, Neo Platonism, etc. Veneration of the dead, practiced in all three Abrahamic deviations, can be traced to preHellenic Mycenean culture.

As a sufi, one has to remember that the practices they are taught by their sheikh are MEANS to Allah's love, not the end. Allah told us that the fard are the most beloved to Him and the way we draw closest to Him. But the haqiqa is also a reality we have to try to access in order to reach ihsan.
