I love how they listen to his creation, then pretty much have the melody in their heads already, they just have to start ironing it out. What an incredible experience for Skrillex to have been able to work with his idols. Incredible track, made a little eerie by the fact that Morrison predicted the style of Skrillex's music 40 years earlier.

It's really heartening to see The Doors members go from being super skeptical on working with Skrillex to being totally into it once the song comes together. They had a lot more in common than they thought. Great music transcends generations!

I used to be into skrillex when I was younger (the usual dubstep phase) but I grew more interest into indie and then now 60s rock as I’m 17 and the doors really are amazing and I just l started listening a month ago. Each member from the doors have so much talent and skill and contribution to today’s music and pushing the boundaries in rock with organ(ray manzerek) the ghostly poem vocals (Jim Morrison) blues guitar(Robby Krieger) and amazing drummer (John desmore). One last thing I’d like to share. The organist Ray plays two keyboards which plays bass piano and organ at once, like having 2 brains. It’s truly astonishing seeing these two artists come together to make this masterpiece. Just wanted to share about the doors and maybe you can look into them sometime :)

Music is something to be created and enjoyed by whoever likes it. There is no such thing as "real" music or "real" musicians as long as the music evokes an emotional response from those listening to it. Some want to get "amped"(dub, metal), some "chill"(jazz), some just like the lyrics to a song because they can relate to them. Skrillex(Sonny) did what every musician does; imagine sounds and make them reality with whatever talent and equipment you have at hand. Then hope someone likes it.

These guys really threw a lot of negativity at Sonny but he came up with the goods anyway, the track he made sounds dope.
@nickk3829 жыл бұрын
They know the music is not to what they're usually surrounded by or better yet interested in. You guys need to think that when you're in the music industry for that long, these guys know that from the beginning when they became 'The Doors' that music will eventually evolve slowly but surely. You think the music that they were playing wasn't different from what people were listening to when they were just kids? Of course not, but they came in, and became a power house of what we call classic rock today. I can't disagree with you that when they listened to what Skrillex has created before, they were seemingly baffled and startled by it. Though, they know anything can be music and just a simple scratch of anything can be created into something. I for one love that 'The Doors' came in and provided their knowledge and intuition of the matter to collaborate different genres of music from different backgrounds, eras, and familiarity into something that works.

I'm a producer. Skrillex motivated me to move into the house/dubstep production. I am not part of the mainstream 'movement' with Skrillex, I just listen to his stuff every once in awhile. That does not make me a gay emo. It's not right to judge others based on some music.
@therealquade11 жыл бұрын
I would love to hear a longer version that used *everything*, including the stuff skrillex played at the start that's different from the released song, and the full guitar/keyboard parts that don't show up in the song either. I'd be tempted to try to make it myself cutting up this video but the audio quality isn't nearly good enough, and i'm pretty bad at fixing audio correctly.

It was mainly underground in the USA for a long time because there was no Internet and the USA is so big. During the early 90's I was one of the few people involved with EDM. In those days it was impractical to discuss EDM with the average listener. Almost none of them would have known what I was talking about.

The still living Doors previously undercut Jim Morrison when they sold the rights to "Light My Fire" to general motors for a car commercial, so it's no surprise they would make this move for money too. I just find especially offensive that they would sample Jim's words into the song knowing full well he would never be on board with something like this.

so funny to see dance music being so big and fairly accepted now in the States, in Europe it caught on in the late 80's early 90's, roughly 20 years ago. The only place for the Chicago and Detroit House/Techno musicians was Europe back then. Now all the big european dance producers have moved to America to catch the new wave and business opportunities there.
@seymournhs12 жыл бұрын
That doesn't mean he would have liked it, but it also doesn't mean he would hate it. I just personally think Jim wouldn't have been happy about working with one man and his machines. You can tell that the other members of The Doors aren't really into it as well, especially John.

Ight, I respect Skrillex so much more. I mean, he was just a good dubstep guy until this. The fact that he went out of his way to get in touch and work with The (remaining) Doors really makes me smile. Two polar opposite genres uniting is great. I mean, I'm still a bit shaky on the whole thing, but still. I'm glad he's a fan of The Doors, I'm glad he knows their talent, and I'm jealous that he got to meet them XD Skrillex, if you read this, know that I respect you. Then again, who am I to you?
