Go read the lyrics to "Where are U Now", Would You Ever. The dude even produced a song for Bieber which is basically about creating a generation of children who are generous, brave, and revolutionary.

What he's not saying is that EDM is NOT easy to produce. He's not just pressing buttons, but rather spending hours and hours being creative, mixing, mastering, everything. Producing is not easy at all and there's literally thousands of producers trying to be the next Skrillex. I wish older generations would realise this. Making those drums, the basses, EQing everything, compressing everything. It's a lot of work.
@Lessthanthreeedm6 жыл бұрын
He doesn't need to say it cause people who know how it works know how much time, effort and so on it takes to make a tune. Trying to explain someone who can't tell the difference between what a dj and a producer does (this is where the whole "pressing a few buttons to make music") nonsense came from in the first place, cause people don't even know that dj is just mixing songs and not producing music, mixing both of those things or just trying to bait other people with their ignorance and trolling.

@topdog199459 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why so many people hate him. A guy that I used to hang around with from school didn't like his style at all. I didn't question it because I just let people be themselves and we all have our own opinion. I'm a mobile DJ myself and I primarily do high school dances and proms and such. Anyways, his music is quite popular among the teens I provide music for. And thanks to Skrillex, dubstep is all I'll listen to. I've always got a pair of headphones on me and I just recently installed an aux port in my Mini Cooper to enjoy his vibes on the upgraded Harmon/Kardon sound system. I just recently started listening to another DJ, Zomboy and his song, Nuclear is by far my favorite because of the sick intro, which makes for an excellent intro song for my events. I live somewhat like him and have learned not to take shit from anyone and just be who I am. I'll get people at events that'll say you're an awful DJ and shit like that. I point to the crowd behind them that's clearly having the rave of their lives and ask "really? You're gonna try to be that asshole?" Anyways I'm glad I'm a follower of this champion of dubstep!

@xMrBanannaMan14x9 жыл бұрын
Great mentality, but you better be listening to more artists other than Skrillex and Zomboy. And more genres as well as listening to real Dubstep from I'd say 2009 - 1990's from where it all began. You'll make for a better DJ by not only getting the attention of older ravers but new comers/modern ravers through the music you're playing. Hell, you might even help bring back the roots that define the genres and, you'll show people to appreciate the music rather than to get as fucked up as possible for no reason and mosh to genres that shouldn't even be attempted at.
@topdog199459 жыл бұрын
Go Grizy that's actually a really good idea! I just bought myself a brand new Novation Launchpad Pro last week and it's freaking sweet! Now I can create my own music and create live mashups when I do DJ. I'm still learning how to take full advantage of all it's features. By the way those aren't the only artists I listen to. They're my absolute favorite though. I also listen to Spag Heddy, KDrew, Flux Pavilion, Jael MG, Stan SB, and others.

@adrenacrumb9 жыл бұрын
+Jesse Hooton If you are listening to Skrillex you aren't only listening to dubstep because he does not make dubstep. That is why old school dub steppers hate him, because people actually keep calling his music dubstep for some reason when if you go back to the origins like Mala, Kode 9, Tempa sounds, it's nothing like it at all, it's a complete bastardization of dubstep. Even the guy who invented most of where he got his sound, Rusko, admits it's fucking horrible. The style he uses is actually a joke in dubstep.

lasse skarpengland: lol and you think producing music on a computer doesn't? Do you understand how complex sound design is and how hard it is to fit an entire frequency spectrum into a box and have everything sound perfect?
@PistolPattt6 жыл бұрын
Cody Williams: With guitars you have to learn intonation, this is the key to making the string play and sound exactly how you want it, then you can do advanced techniques such as palm muting, bending strings and tapping. You will need to gradually increase the flexibility in your fingers to be able to play certain chords, or progressions, and your attributes such as dexterity, precision, flexibility and length of your fingers will limit what you can and can't play. Piano's don't need to worry about intonation, instead they have to worry about being able to play many notes at the same time, because it is a polyphonic instrument. 10 Fingers equals the ability to play 10 notes at any one time in basically an unlimited set of combinations (limited by the range of your fingers of course). On top of that, they also need to be able to play two completely different melodies with each hand. Speed, precision and timing will effect what you can and can't play. Creating music on PC's , you have time to adjust each note, each chord progression to make it sound exactly how you want it too. It is time consuming, requires tons of knowledge, requires someone that has talent in writing music, but it does not take multiple years to be able to play basic stuff, and does not require physical talent the way instruments do. There is no physical limitation that will prevent someone on PC making music (baring being handicapped in some way). Physical talent is the difference. Most people in this world will not have the physical attributes/talent to play instruments on the same level as the best. On a PC everyone physically has equal opportunity. it is all about your knowledge, creativity and the time you dedicate to it.

people who love music in general understand this music style and learn to love it. I love all styles from Mozart ,Johnny Cash to Metalica and back to Skrillex and the Lacs. Loving music is easy but dont be closed minded ever about how our music makes us feel it is the ultimate power in all of us.

Respect to the interviewer. She grew from an earlier era and showed no disdain in her questioning. She presented a smile and emanated curiosity in the way she asked her questions. She displayed no judgement, but asked the questions that were relevant to the ones who were curious of the culture Sonny represented. I personally enjoyed seeing the joy she felt in the studio working hand in hand with Sonny.

My favorite song by Skrillex is " Breaking a Sweat," with 2 living members of The Door's. That is the best collaboration in Dubstep! He is a true musician and also plays guitar. He's an amazing Producer. So creative. I used to attend Rave's and I used to throw Rave's from the mid 90's-2003. We used to call it Techno back in the day. I'm 57 and I'm a huge Skrillex fan. I ❤ Dubstep!!

Skrillex has been mainstream since 2010 when he released songs like scary monsters and nice sprites and then his bangarang ep a year later. But there’s two mainstreams, young and old. Young mainstream already knew skrillex and was big there, but the old mainstream is always late to new talent and will always be.

@JDChicago8 жыл бұрын
No of course not.....But in a minute I could listen to whether someone truly has a sense of melodic composition. Sounds, beats and loops is a lot of the market. But he has an understanding writing songs more traditionally. Much like say Calvin Harris. Its a hybrid skill of having good ears, good skills and an ability to simply create and to hear his music. "How it should resolve...where it should go....and perhaps what the actual "musical choices are". Going from F to Bb? Transposing to fit another song idea that was in C major and can easily fit it. Sort of a hybrid thing when its done at an elite level would be my opinion.
@naepha71418 жыл бұрын
when it comes down to it, it is pressing buttons if you use certain types of software, and they have come out with hit songs. There aren't many things you can do to interact with computers other than a mouse. But it's not the interaction, it's the style that adds to it. Every artist has their own style, when you find out how to perfect it, you can make amazing songs, I've been trying to perfect my software for a while. It's difficult. But really, it's not much more than clicking and pressing buttons.
