Some great Scottish landmarks in the Snowman ad you may not have picked up on. The Falkirk Wheel which is a huge rotating boat lift. The Loch Ness monster was in there. Edinburgh castle. Eliean Donan castle from the great 1986 movie Highlander and probably most famous these days... the Hogwarts Express train from Harry Potter. Great reactions through them all!

There are 3 adverts just released by Irn Bru. They are adverts on conjuction with Euro football (soccer) 24 that starts next week. I will be in Germany supporting Scotland with another 200k Scottish fans. Anyway. They are hilarious. Especially 'Mannschaft'.

Number 2, the animation is actually a famous Christmas cartoon here in the UK called "The Snowman", animated by hand with crayon, and has an amazing song that Irn-Bru was parodying. Sorry for the extra comments 😅

Scotland is the only country in the world that does not have Coca Cola as its No.1 soft drink drink by sales, ours of course is Irn Bru, it is also the best cure ever for a hangover, down a bottle of that after a night out and you are good to go.

Some of the ads 1&3 were a direct piss take from the Coca-Cola ads that were created by 30 top Coca-Cola experts sent to try to convert us to Coca-Cola. But it didn't work obs.

The last one is funnier if you were around in the 1980s and know the pop star cliches they are parodying (famously, Madonna and her conical bra, for example). The Snowman parody is the best, especially if you know the original and just how huge a hit it was in the UK at the time.

Being a native Glaswegian(from Glasgow) where Irn Bru is made I grew up watching these ads and there's loads more. The "fanny" one is a word we use to insult other ppl, mainly guys if they're being or acting stupid or just an out and out insult maybe ending in fisticuffs. It's a versatile noun in Scotland.😂 It means the opposite side of an American gal's "fanny", no idea where it originated from but in Scotland it's ubiquitous.😲😂 The Snowman is a parody of the animated classic called "The Snowman" would u believe 😆 Only the Irn Bru ad takes u all over Scottish landmarks from The Forth road bridges, Falkirk wheel, Eilean Donan castle, Loch Ness and the wee guy gets dropped in George square in Glasgow. Btw these iconic ads are definitely not to improve sales in Scotland , Irn Bru has outsold Coke & Pepsi since they have been sold here. Mike, Jess if u do manage to get any put them in the refrigerator beforehand as they taste soooo much better.😂👍

They literally released 3 new ads recently, one playing on the fact the German name for team is Mannschaft, it is set in a mens public lavatory. It is as close to the edge as all previous Irn Bru ads. So we will see adverts like this again and again, it is a winning formula for Barr's

When it was launched it was Iron Brew but Barrs were told it contravened the advertising act as it wasn't brewed and it didn't contain Iron so the name changed to Irn Bru in 1946

Irn Bru is the no 1 best selling drink in Scotland. Scotland is 1 of only 3 countrys that does not have coke as a top seller,. I love Irn Bru but im Scottish so i main line the ginger. Please check out the Marmight adverts, very funny and cleaver.

Tango ads, Carling black label ads, even stuff like The oxo family or Fruit and nut with Frank Muir if you go far enough back. Lots of series of commercials to look at, many of which became household catchphrases for a while. Nescafe Gold blend romance and BT had a few too.

The earliest one was the American parody (girl running after the train) - 1991. Grandad's teeth, mobility scooter and even though I used to be a man - 2000. Baby's first Irn bru - 2003. The butcher - 2010. Snowman parody - 2011. The fanny ad, steamy windows ad - 2012. Push-up bra - 2013

this was the 2nd version of the snowman advert. The first one had a big delay before a weak hand barely reaches up out from the snow, hinting the boy survived but probably injured. Some people must have complained because the next year (the ad shown here) the boy pops up very quickly and in good shape. For the original version, there was a big debate/argument at the advertising agency as some wanted it to end without the viewer knowing if the boy survived by not showing any sign of life after he falls into the snow, but they compromised with the weak hand barely reaching up.

Originally Irn Bru adverts were based on the idea that drinking it made you strong, hence some of the adverts are from earlier ad campaigns based on that idea. The majority of the adverts are from after this period where the main idea is just to make funny/outrageous adverts.

Yeah definitely check out the snowman it's a actually book written by Raymond Brigg and the animated cartoon is introduced by David Bowie and is so cool. And the song in the background is actually a song that got to number 1 at Christmas and was sung by someone who end up with his voice break so aled jones another singer sung it on top of the pops.

The Snowman is an actual Christmas movie that is on every year, it has spinoff movies aswell. The original song is Walking In The Air and was sung by two different boys, one for the movie and one to carry it on because the first boys voice broke.

There is a compilation somewhere of the Marmite commercials which are hilarious. Their campaign is centred around the fact that you either love it or hate it. The other great series of commercials was for Skoda cars. They had a really bad reputation but where bought by BMW. Suddeenly the cars were moderrn, sleek and high performance. So they ran a series of commercials based on the tag line 'You won't believe it's a Skoda'.

There's a 1901 IRN-BRU version that's available... It's the original recipe from when the Scottish drink was first introduced in 1901... Newer versions of IRN-BRU... Have all had their recipes altered to comply with the Sugar Tax here in the UK... These include both the reduction of Sugar they contain... And the introduction of Artificial Sweeteners to the newer IRN-BRU versions... This has obviously altered the overall taste of the Sugar Tax compliant IRN-BRU version... However... You can still try the original 1901 version... They're available in 750ml glass bottles... And also in 330ml cans... But you'll be paying more for the privilege... As they will be charged the extra cost of the Sugar Tax... That's imposed here in the UK. 👍
