I visited and stayed 2 weeks with them in Germany in the summer of 1973 when I was in the school cadet force. I am so honoured to have the chance to be there.

There was a good lot of military music on that parade,. March onto the square with sword and Lance, written by I believe an American. Alternatively comarada, a German march, old comrades, the grand march from Aida played as the inspection of the Regiment took place. The British Grenadines when the Regiment advanced in review order, then the General salute. Very inspiring music, discipline and Regimental pride. Always enjoyed special parades.

I was part of the guidon escort, the first in the film. It took place at Sek Kong, Hong Kong on the 25 th October 1960. The inspecting officer was General Sir Richard Hull, Commander in Chief, Far East Land Forces, a former Commanding Officer of our Regiment the 17th/21st Lancers. Also present was the Lt. Governor of Hong Kong.

With regards to the music being played in Pakistan, Mr Harris, a WO Bandmaster was in charge of the Regimental band in Hong Kong. He later took a commission in the Pakastani army as a director of music. That is probably why it was heard there.
