An Order of Travelling Monks
Richard is overly proud of himself for having created a new book of Emergency Questions, but luckily there is someone on hand who will give them short shrift, it’s the comedian with the soul of a poet, Reginald D Hunter.
He discusses the one thing that is better than a shrek when it comes to improving existing franchises, how Reg did and didn’t break his leg, how comedic genius can be passed on via the bladder, the ultimate victory of sibling rivalry, the slow realisation of the truth about OJ Simpson, how vanity is the greatest destroyer of men, being the fourth funniest person in your family and many more surprising revelations regarding relativity. Richard worries about ageing and death, but Reginald does not. It’s a revelatory chat with a comedian who possibly unwittingly inspired this whole podcast series. You will dream of loving someone as much as Rich loves Reg.

Best line of any Podcast: "You gone bring that book?" I worked with him around the time he broke his leg, same issue with getting to the stage, he was so charming and brilliant on stage. He had a few tastey beverages then too!

One of the things I like about Reg is he doesn't ride the "fish out of water" thing into the ground, which, on reflection is an odd idiom to wedge into a the middle of a metaphor.

I remember seeing him on TV shows in the '90s. Today they'd be called panel shows but back then their wasn't enough of them to go by a collective term. He always had funny hair, like he was trying to grow it but kept giving up, because it wouldn't take over 20 years to grow those dreads. (10 maybe) He was funny but no one knew who he was.

I thought this was great! I think Reg and Rich would make a good comic duo because they are culturally polar opposites yet have some similarities and that would make for some great comic skits or something. Yet they both seem comfortable enough to discuss anything and are both a similar age. Excellent stuff

You say that like derailing the interview and trying to get it back on track again isn't part of the fun. Comedy is all about risk. None of this is prepped. The failures are there to make the successes shine. Get in the groove dude.

@DaveRelph001 3 жыл бұрын
@@Herring1967 I agree, but it ended rather abruptly in this case and was a bit of an anticlimax. There are some times when they really work, I'd listen to you going through the whole book with Bob Mortimer or David Mitchell, and then times when they don't feel necessary after a really good interview, like this one or the one with Kathy Burke.

@@DaveRelph001 But there's no way of knowing if they will work or not until you've done them. And they have to not work sometimes of they are useless. So take the failures on the chin and marvel in the wonder of how well they usually work.
