Nicely done, thank you. I started with one of the prefabs and didn't understand how even thin wall occupy a block, now I understand why there are "open" spaces that won't let me put anything in them, appreciate that info.

Yeah I can understand that. A lot of games that go through public early access keep adding new stuff to keep existing players happy. Unfortunately it makes the game overly complicated for new players.

What is it you are trying to place?

with volume and mass on, you need to use the connect to cargo tool, have an output box (cargo controller + cargo extension blocks on HV and SV) probably a matter transceiver on the grid depending on what range from the grid you are building and you can also extend build range a bit by using the drone. For reference, before you have armor and mods for volume you can only carry a handful of base / CV (concrete etc.) blocks, usually about 7-8 max without a completely empty inventory and toolbar. Also, never build a block that exceeds output storage volume on a HV or SV as you now have to drop a portable constructor to make more cargo extender blocks or lose the materials when you remove or reset the constructor on the HV or SV.
