My son and I (26 and 52 respectively) just got the game on the EPIC Store because it's FREE through OCT 17th, 2024!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO much for this Tutorial! I was COMPLETELY LOST, being a long time No Man Sky player, I was REALLY LOST by a lot of the mechanics in this game. Your incites and tips are proving to be invaluable. Thank you so very much and I look forward to Binge-Watching the rest of the series!

@@kagang8959 EDIT: So TheBeestyBoy Flew over to the ICE planet and picked up my son and brought him back to Akua so that we can play together! Thanks to him and everyone else on the Official Vanilla Server that were helping us out! You're being really cool about getting back to me right away. I have a little conundrum. My son and I want to play together, so I got on the Official Vanilla Server and went down to Akua. Unfortunately, he clicked start over the ICE planet (IDK it's name) and so now we're on separate planets!!! I tried to see if one of us could make a new character, but that didn't work... I'm at a loss about how to get us together. Also, I really don't want to play with other ppl, but I don't know how to make my OWN server.... ANY assistance you could give me would be EXTEREMELY HELPFUL!!! Thanks brother. 🥵

@@sgt_retiredcharlie4102 If one of you can open up the obelisk by getting the key matrix on your planet you can travel to the other starter planets and get together again.

Thanks, much appreciated. Quite a few changes since the old Omicron beginning where the Xirax show up to raid soon after placing a core. Starting out neutral with the Xirax a big change too as it makes getting the rarer resources much easier, although having weight limits imposed on the default assumptions adds difficulty (but switched that off as managing the weight isn't difficult but seems tedious).

Seeds are for the Galaxy. Starter worlds are the same so people can follow the quests easier and tutorials wont throw them off.

I played this years ago. Still have it in my library at Steam. It looks completely different. Maybe I'll give it a try again

Yes it used to start on Omicron, now it has a 4 planet starter process bolted to the beginning, and when getting to Omicron, Omicron no longer has the Xirax base so we don't get the base attacks like we used to. As for the base attacks, they are WAY different too (when getting to them). Also, at the start we are neutral with the Xirax so they only start raiding once we decide to start killing them. Lots of changes over the years.

This has been helpul. except the mines and capital those kind of thing don't show on the map, only the pod and myself show as a green dot. whats with that.

Need ping with the detector you start with (equip it and left mouse click) then open the map with the m key and it shows the nearby mines for a short period before they vanish. Need ping again with the detector to bring them back up on the map.

Please tell how is it you are mining resources so fast? Trees and ores. It takes me literally 3-4 times longer to mine than it’s taking you. I just started this game and I am liking it but the grind is very slow because the mining gun is very slow and here I see this video and am shocked how fast you get the resources. I even tried to find a mod to address this issue but found nothing. What’s the deal here?

In the first episode I only mine the carbon substrate while running around the starter area (as its only a couple of hits per carbon substrate node) while mining the iron, copper and silicon nodes takes too long. I get all those materials later from the small mines (day 2), where, using the drone, you should be getting through the mines at the same speed I do (I cut the camera during the grind but no tricks/mods or short cuts are used). You get to upgrade to a proper drill quite quickly (day 3 or so) so its only a few mines that you have to tolerate using the slow drill, so hang in there as once you get a proper drill it is way faster.

I think that once people start a new game without the weight restriction, they might not want to re-enable it. Is it really a survival game if you can carry an unlimited amount of items?

I first played the game when the weight limit was off as the default assumption, and indeed as soon as weight limit was added, I felt like a lot of tedious running back and forth and how they like to play, had been added which reduced ny enjoyment of the game, But that's why custom settings are great, each can adjust the difficulty level to suit their playstyles and how they like to play,

@@kagang8959 Won't it will also reduce or eliminate your need to build and use storage solutions early game? You can just carry everything in your inventory otherwise.

I really wanted to try this game out but come on graphic wise it looks like Everquest and that game is like 25 years old so yeah i will keep on playing NMS.

Not sure why you were so stuck on why the planet you chose is always the same planet. You literally chose to be on that planet. Pretty good beginning info otherwise, thanks.

Used to be that the seed numbers always gave a slightly different planet but now it always seems to be exactly the same, so a bit confused why there are different seed numbers still if the planet is always identical.
