The problem comes when your family dont understand that you cant go beyond what you already providing for them. It gets draining and becomes a burden when they expect you to be the sole provider.

Hi Fam, I'm also a first born and my black tax is a bit challenging because my parents lost their house,so they live with me in a rented place because I can't afford to buy at the moment,this has put a strain on me financially and emotionally and I'm still figuring out how I will conquer this challenge but, I true that God will take me through this and I'll be telling a different story in time.

It's emotional taxing because if one can't afford,some families do not understand. They will ask something like how can you buy a car if you don't have money,whereas a car is the tool for one to go to work.

And they don't understand that sometimes the kind of car you drive could be dependant on the car allowance u have, otherwise sars will punish you.

Hi Fam bam. Silent member here but this topic struck a nerve 😂 I disagree with being transparent about your salary/payslip & budget to family who is already coercing you & not accepting your boundaries or your no. I don’t think you need to explain your no. To anyone. As you all have said, give what you can, if you can, WHEN you can. Those who love & respect you should be able to respect your boundaries & your no without requiring an explanation. Attaching the notion of black tax to the religious principle of giving is a bit unfair (sorry Dise 😂) it’s not that simple. It may make those that are struggling with black tax feel more guilty. Which impacts greatly on one’s mental health. Sorry for the long message 🫣
@RegoDise2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gugu, Definitely hear your point and agree! Black Tx is Really not that simple! And taking care of ones mental health is so important!

Black tax is an emotional topic on its own. I think it needs a family which understands a lot because it will end up like blackmail. Most people are caught in between exodus 20:12 and trying to make it out there because family will make you look like you are disrespecting whilist you are just setting boundaries.

Hey Fam, eish touchy subject for some of us that were not "contributing to black tax" while parents where still alive but things really shifted for me as the first born child when our mom passed who was the only provider for my sister's and I. By God's grace I am working so the extra responsibility that I felt towards my siblings didn't feel too much but I had to make some financial adjustments so that they can be ok and I am ok as well. The most taxing has been that after mom's passing family distanced themselves and then started putting demands on me and because I had boundaries in place, I must say now I am like the "Black Sheep" of the family that wont do what they want especially where my money or boundaries are crossed. Great conversation fambam...

Hey Fam to the Bam!! Loved this convo so much! So my goal with dealing with black tax is to be transparent with my family about my budget as well as to help where I can. I will create safe boundaries and ensure that they aren't crossed. And then in creating generational wealth, I will ensure that I invest my money and ensure that it grows over the years.
@themkhizes41702 жыл бұрын
Hey Fam to the Baaammm !!🥰🤩 Always so happy when you have posted a new video and thank you for bringing in Phila to the conversation. Very informative indeed. I also believe that "family responsibility" should be voluntary and out of the goodness of your heart and not because you are obligated to now do things for your family... as some families can really be manipulative as Dise mentioned. So our goal as a couple is to be as generous as we can be and help out when and where we are able to but to make people know that we are not obligated and they should not feel entitled however it is a beautiful thing to help family out as long as you are doing it out of love and not by force. In terms of creating generational wealth, as a couple, we discussed that it is important to teach ourselves and our children sound financial literacy because we can invest as parents with the aim of building wealth and leaving inheritances behind but if our children don't know the fundamentals of how to handle money, they will be on shows such as 'I blew it '😅and we don't want that. So essentially we want to leave them with sound financial knowledge above the wealth they will inherit (whether through our own financial lessons, financially literate books we leave to them, simple conversations we have with them regarding money and even as they grow- the lessons we instill in them regarding the small coins they even get) - That for us is generational wealth, as they can also pass it on to their children and this ensures that the wealth is maintained throughout generations not just our children only but theirs too etc. 🤍🌼☺. #Regodise#Sanlam#Livewithconfidence#Finance#Blacktax#SatrixVoucher💃

Hello family. I agree 100% with you guys definition of so-called "black tax". It is family responsibility. As long as it is done voluntarily and out of love and generous spirit. After all, motho ke motho ka batho, and charity begins at home.

Hey FamBam!! Thank you for such an informative series😍 I'm privileged enough to not be obliged to "black tax". Hey Fam. What a topic I recently just started working and man it feels like I'm a slave for my family. I don't mind supporting my family but sometimes it gets overwhelming to the extent that you even dread your own pay day. I am 26 years old so I'm still trying to find my voice in the family but for now they still want to tell me what to do.

I wont pay black tax because once I lost my job they treated me like sh*t, they were gossiping and bad mouthing me. Sometimes they would even say all I know is to eat. So once I find a job again I'm gonna live in my own world 💔💔😭😭😭😓

Hey David, so sorry to hear that, it is truly heartbreaking. In such circumstances all we can do is pray they see their wrong doing and hope that in the near future they will apologise and treat you in the right manner, with love and respect.

@@RegoDise Thanks you very much. But as for them they can take their love and keep it cos I no longer need it. I doubt they'll ever apologize nor see their wrong doing cos it's who they are. It's their true colors that they've relieved to me. Unfortunately They care about money not me
