I am a 63 year old man. When I die I will have a list of what if's. I did what I thought I was suppose to. I found a wife, Bought a house, I worked my entire life, raise three wonderful kids and I stayed faithful to my wife. This year we will be celebrating 45 years together. Don't get me wrong I have had a wonderful life. But deep inside I crave something more. I feel somewhat trapped within my soul as I want to see more of this country. Idaho has always amazed me with it's beauty and I hope to take that what if off my list. To all of those who read this don't have the what if list. Go out and live life for all it's worth as you will soon learn it happens fast and one day you too may have a what if list. God Bless to all.

59 here finding myself in the same situation. I did spend a good part of my post college years as an outdoor educator, immersed in the wilderness…. But expectations at that time were to get a “real” job, settle down complete with a house and white picket fence. I think our generation eventually realized what we were taught to pursue was outdated and no longer works…. A bit late. It’s good to. See the younger generation trying to shake free from those shackles while they’re young enough.

56 and yearning to hit the road in 6-9 years when i retire. Did all the "right" things in life, or so i thought. Literally every major decision i've made has had negative outcomes. Now, finally, i'm making enough money to where i should be able to basically pay cash (not that im going to) for a Denali and Host camper in four more years. Very envious of all these young people able to ditch the norm and life the life they choose. Never really thought that was possible

I hope someday you and Dan can sit down and share your two amazing journeys since going your separate ways. You both have pushed the sides of those “boxes of life” out and down. Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” is the mantra for those of all of us, willing to enjoy turning the corner of the unknown up ahead. Peace in your travels! Good luck too in finding a base for a pause and rest, recharging those human batteries, making physical and mental repairs. It’s all about being good to yourself, whatever it takes.

Pretty awesome stuff. I would have to say that I would never rewrite any story of mine because I had to go there to be who I am now. Success, to me, is being in a place of not suffering whether it be mentally, spiritually, physically. So far I am very successful. Was not always this way, but through learning in life I was able to over come road blocks and also appreciate what is before me. Just be openminded by not thinking you are right and leave options open for change. That is what I do. Love the great video. So much beautiful footage. Btw, my whole family got sick here in Oregon too. My mom came to visit from Wisconsin and brought it with her lol. Glad to hear you are doing good now. Big hugs!

If you are traveling to Lost Trail Pass, north of Salmon on US 93, there is a place to camp at Chief Joseph Pass where we cross country ski. It's altitude is 7,000 Ft and will be cooler temps. Not sure if you are going there, but looks like you went through Stanley country. Glad you made it through your emotional storm and sickness. Alyssa, you express your thoughts and feelings very well. It’s sometimes difficult on me to watch you go through because I too broke out of what others expected of me and experienced many of the same things. However I’m twice your age and a male so what I’m trying to say is “ you are courageous” never doubt that! I have found many questions and answers about myself. No doubt you have, are and will continue too as well. When things seem difficult from time to time consider the People that traveled the Oregon trail, they too were out there by choice looking for something better than what they had known, no safety net risking everything because something in them said that it was worth it. I don’t know anything about where you come from or your back ground but for encouragement, forget most everything you have heard about religion, society, business and tradition. Take God’s word (the truth,Bible) and his creation on one on one,he is the author of both and just see what he might say. Best wishes for you!

I’m watching this one year later. So sorry you were ill and very happy your feeling better. When we’re sick, that’s when we are most vulnerable and wanting our moms to comfort us. Being ill, not only is saps us of our common sense, but our ability to think clearly and make good decisions as well as draining us of our energy. I’m glad you had Rio as she is a big comfort to you during this period in your life. I never felt being an adult was a big deal until we had to shut down our store, and I had to look my employees in the eye and let them know, I don’t know how but we will still come through this. Four years later, and I still don’t feel like we’ve come back to normality. There is an edge in attention to every person as we have all experienced trauma in one form or another. You are one of the strongest women I know of and I look forward to catching up on your videos and glad that you are better. Know that if you’re ever in Colorado and you’re in that bad of shape, you can always come to our home and I will give you & Rio a safe place to lay low till you feel better. Thank you for all of your insights to life.

Keep thriving. You are inspiring to watch. Our only real limits is the one we set ourselves for. Keep dreaming. This is what life is about. Keep pushing your daily limits and just allow yourself to believe everything will be just fine. Keep following your intuitions because you will get to experience life to what it is all about. Just believing in ourselves and that life is there to impress us. Life isn't complicated. We are the one who make it complicated. Good luck in your journey of finding yourself. Keep making video and posting them.

Wow that one got me, Ive battle a rare condition for a very long time and so I can relate to your thoughts. Thank the Lord it was only a passing situation as I know many living every day like that and you dont lose your dreams or aspirations while being in fight against your own body, you actually find the most important things in life many take for granted. Sadly the options to so many dont include getting proper care so be kind yourselves out there as nothing is as challenging as a body not functioning, thank you for showing life in not so pleasant topics it helps the rest of us keep reaching for hope we too will have better days. By the way you can finance a property in the West for little down and low monthly payments, many will allow 3 to 6 months camping with a permit but you got to check the county and look for low restrictions. Cost are going up so Id be looking now. Im a mountain lover too all the way. Love the seasons and the snow.

Glad you recovered from that sick thing episode. It really seems that you're living the way life should be lived. Experiencing God's country to the Max. Much appreciation for bringing me along your adventure, taking me to places that I've never been, proving to me what I've heard is correct......that the upper mid-west including Wyoming and Idaho are spectacular. I've heard that Montana around the Big Sky area is awesome too. My (new) life experience is limited to my move to Baja California, having re-planting myself from Long Beach California. I'm really loving it here, living next to the ocean, experiencing the Mexican lifestyle, and frequenting the Valle de Guadalupe wine country in nearby Ensenada. My new casa is halfway between Rosarito and Ensenada and my road treks always have that ocean view. But I've always been intrigued by mountain beauty, hidden streams, and the smell of pine trees. Continue your glorious adventure in good health and I'll continue to 'sneak-peek' your trek along with you.
