The only regret I have concerns MP-09 Rodimus Prime, I transformed him two times around 10 years ago, and broke him at 4 places : left shoulder, left leg, 2 small parts of the trailer, and I never was able to put the hand at the good place when in car mode. This piece was a shame, a very exciting project : Hot Rod alt and Rodimus Primes alt as a same robot was the idea of the century, and it was so poorely executed, it becames the nightmare of the century.

Funny thing about mp08 is, I thought that we'd be getting a plus or some newer version 2.0 for him since the 09 was so poorly made. I actually thought he'd be mp50? All in one Tformed trailer mode effectively

Mannnnn he made such a good point... when you love transformers you love transformers... so when you see something cool you think "that's awesome looking I'm going to get that"... but if you don't care ... really CARE about the character, once the "cool" factor wears thin, you're stuck with a character you don't care about, and regret. And that's a huge deal when it's 3P MP scale, that may be $200-500 you could have used to get something you DO care about. I wonder if I'm doing that with MPG Raiden...

The thing is about getting the modern treatment, some of them have very few updates, such as the Piranacon and Liokaiser. TFC and Hasbro are the only ones to give them the updated toys and no one else has even give them a second glance since. Hell, Monstructor only has the fansproject treatment and no one also give him a chance.

I am happy with my TFC items because they were stylized and that's what I had hoped MP would always be. I admit they did not withstand the test of time, with exception of Leo Kaiser which I am happy with.

I only got Predaking and Ratchet from TFC. That was enough to know that they had terrible qc issues and that I shouldn't buy any others. Ratchet's problem was at least easily fixable. But two of the predacons had either parts misassembled or joints that would not move. I thought TFC had the best looking aesthetic of the three competing predacons. I just wish the engineering wasn't utter dog shit.

I definitely regret TFC Toys Liokaiser just because I hated messing with it. If I just displayed them in robot mode, they'd be fine. But TFC just kinda sucks

Yeah, they look great but just not worth the initial asking price. I have been wanting to get Poseidon to have a Piranacon in my CHUG collection but the price for a complete set is still $500 or more so I settled on the Generations Select version and pre-ordered that Dream Wave upgrade set. Still hoping someone will do a good MP set someday. I would still like to get Poseidon but only if the price comes down. It's too bad one of the KO companies didn't do an over-sized version.

I will always love my TFC Hercules and Superion. I keep them in combined mode and they are displayed together. You gotta have something to hold onto besides plastic. I did sell the Defensor because it wasn't for me, but the Seacons won't be topped, and Liokaiser are pretty cool in bot and alt modes. All in all I feel good about my TFC bots.

It’s hard to do this with hindsight it seems like most of the regrets are based off hindsight of something better coming. I wonder what was bought and like damn that was an impulse purchase. For me it was 3p legends scale figures

I sold the mass bulk of my collection for NON-Regret reasons. BUT. but... I also avoided my regrets by watching review after review and making educated decisions lol. Thanks for saving me from Kronus in particular lolol. Also, this might be the funniest dummies so far lol.

No video has hit home harder for me that this one. To realize all the money I wasted on the whole power of the primes trilogy, of which I had about 99%, was an eye opener. I’m glad I got into MP’s at a time when the toon look was starting to become mainstream. I haven’t really had to switch any out. And I’m not wasting money on place holders. If I want a particular character, I’ll save the money for the best version. I really appreciate your views as well as those of the dummies. I’m laser focused now.

I’m so glad I looked at all the reviews before i purchased anything. Back in the days. It’s the reason I don’t have a lot of these. The only ones I have are the Feral Rex and the ko oversized Bruticus.. Still my favorite. All modes. My regrets are... Thunderwing not sure who the company is. And.the very few Hasbro stuff. Anytime one comes out that’s better. The other goes to vehicle mode. Ex. Mmc Sixshot. Ft comes in. The other is the one that gets transformed all modes. Not risking hydra.

Just curious, why are you regretting Oversized Bruticus. If you're talking about Jinbao I have the same thing and had him for less than a month and half and have him for sale..lol. I'm all in with the MMC version, that's one of my reasons of letting it go but I have so many other reasons. Just curious what's yours, haven't seen anyone mention that set before..lol. Another regret is MMC Sixshot too, I picked up the Continuum version a couple of weeks ago and I'm good. I'm selling him too. I never understood what the hype was with that guy.

My biggest regret was spending over $500 on the FansProject Causality set. (Stunticons/Menasor). The set was such a chore and frustration to transform that once I managed to get the combiner together, I put it in my closet. I was so done.

I still want to get that KFC Sancho Barbosa. It reminds me of the fish bosses you fight in the Darius shooters. I could display that with the Darius gashapon ships I have. If I was filthy rich, I'd get into Hot Toys but with a lot of TF pieces going for big bucks these days, I'm already cutting back on what I need in my collection.

Great episode! I’m glad you guys can joke about it now. Hindsight is 20/20. I feel like these aren’t true regrets honestly because if you hadn’t of bought them who knows where this stuff would be now. A lot of this stuff is because there were people buying all this stuff which gave birth to FansToys, MMC, XTB, KFC, Bad Cube. I think alot of people actually regret NOT buying alot of FansToys. Also not selling some of the figures when they were in HIGH demand like Quakewave, Sunsurge, iGear Coneheads...lol. I feel you kind of nailed it when you said it is a learning curve because you don’t know whats coming out. My only true regret of my collection was buying all of the Hasbro Combiner Wars figures AND buying the Unite Warriors sets. Should have just bought the Unite ones and been done. I was surprised no one said Daca Toys Kronos...I thought Robert Bought Everything! 😂 Always enjoy the 4 dummies episodes.

so far my main regret with my collection so far is missing out on MP insecticons with clear chests. i started collecting after these things were not available and i have MMC and Badcube versions with the toon looking chests, but they dont fulfill my wanting of a toy-looking MP style insecticons.

Ed Braun so funny you should say that. Each episode is really an hour long or so. 10-15 minutes gets cut into a KZbin video. The uncut episodes are available on patreon at the 5$ level. 2 a month

I bought the NECA SDCC arcade turtles for a ridiculous amount of money and regretted it immediately. I also regret being all in on the Takara MP line with regards to the main numbered figures, MP-1, 2, 3 etc, it forced me to get figures I didn’t particularly want or have any connection to such as beast wars, but it also force me to get some repaints that I actually resented such as target master Hotrod and the repaint of Optimus Primal. The black repaint of Prime as MP-49 was too much and I’m now pretty much done with Takara.

Fans Hobby MB01. I got one that was missing a mirror and after returning it I got the second and I just didn't care for it. It had some good ideas but it just wasn't Black Convoy/Scourge to me. It does make for a cooler optimus though.

I bought a few and don't regret it. But its also when I put a hard stop to collecting every hasbro figure even if it wasn't a repaint. I already passed on nearly all repaints, but now the vast majority of the line was nothing but repaints and slight remolds. Before, new figures were pretty sparse over time and were different enough. Now there's too many samey ones, and too many lazy ones..

@@darwinxavier3516 The problem with the combiners is that there aren't too many alternatives in CHUG scale. There are the TFC versions, but some are still quite pricey like Hades and Poseidon. I don't mind having CW stuff to fill the gaps in my CHUG collection. I got most of mine when they were reasonably priced and have gotten some of the better Unite Warriors versions. The upgrade kits definitely improve the look of them.

Other MP figures that I've swapped out I don't regert because I enjoyed them for a while then made most of my money back. I consider the 'lost' money a good price for the time I had them.

I regret buying all 6 of the KFC Junkions at once. You read that correct, it was over $700. I panic bought them because I thought they were part of a limited run, learned my lesson. I only should have bought Wreck-Gar and maybe Dumpyard. Take this advice, NEVER PANIC BUY.

Omg R regrets the MasterMades' I am like IN LOVE with all those& don't have them! I only regret that at times I used2 follow the fandoms'noise and Not getting what I wanted...my only regret is not buying more idw/stylized figures during this hypertoonic craze'( btw its killed the hobby itself,*yes imma G1ner) cuz you can't find those now. Over all though SIEGE Is the Way to go ((if your not A Fanstoys Fanboy)). Not just A price $$ thing either, which is nice. But Simply because look at All the Dope Titans out now & the in-coming.. You Need 5" Bots (i.e. SIEGE-ish) or smaller- Legends size, otherwise the Displays Look Ridiculously inept & Wonky. > I dropped 2 MMP Bots (including _Stray_ / DRIFT) cause of Size (An I HATE His elongated shoulders). Made $100 back & grabbed The _BBTS_ Super-posable official "DRIFT Model kit" (Some Glue helps) & it Not only scales waaay better w/ SIEGE. But looks esthetically Waaay better over all; Especially When standing next to my Walgreens RATCHET.

last year I went Takara and Fans Toys only, sold my other 3P stuff at decent prices and haven't looked back. I regret buying some 3P like pretty much all BadCube's releases. the KFC tapes, and Zeta combiners.

The KO oversized MP 2.0 Reximus Prime Grimlock for sure!!! Should have paid the money for FT Grinder when he was cheaper. And now it's late Tax city, and a pain to try and sell the KO Reximus.

As somebody who only knows a lot characters by name and have no meaning to me at all, I still bought them cause I enjoy the collecting them. If anything, I never really cared for the Transformers lore, as cartoons or shit like that. Sure I did watch some of the cartoons growing up but I never felt anything for them. Even Beastwars that I pretty much watched from start to finish didn't matter. I bought them cause they looked cool or I just want the toy on a whim. Kinda weird hearing from people that they need a certain "connection" to those characters for them to not regret buying them. Heck if were pushing it, the only Transformers I actually do have a "connection" to is Optimus Prime, so that means I should feel regret for buying everything and throw them out and just have nothing but Optimus Primes? Heck I even collect Sentai mechas here and there and I have 0 nostalgia or connection for some of them cause I never watched or cared for their seasons both in Sentai or Power Rangers. I just buy them cause they're robots. Bottom line is, I'm into the toys not the lore. So say what you will, I don't need a certain connection to feel enjoyment out of them. They could have stayed as Diaclones for all I care. Thanks to me not caring about the lore and shit, I can safely enjoy the toys and I buy them just on their coolness factor alone.

The original cartoon series did not age well even though I loved watching it as a kid. Save for certain episodes, I can't watch it today. I have collected the toys over the years because they look pretty cool and it's awesome to have them all displayed together. That being said, there's a few characters that I don't need in my collection as I feel their character designs are pretty terrible like a few of the G1 mini-bots. Now if some company came along and decided to redesign them but still maintain some of the signature looks of the original designs, I would get them if they looked cool. My regrets over the years are pretty much with price. Just paying too much at the time and having these toys drop significantly soon after especially when 3rd party companies started popping up with their Masterpiece versions of toys and Hasbro/TakaraTomy offering cheaper CHUG scale figures than the 3rd party offerings I had already bought for a lot more. Nowadays, I'm more cautious about what I pay for stuff. If it seems reasonable to pre-order at the asking price, I'm in, but if something is too high and I don't absolutely need to have it, I will wait to see if I can find it for less after it's been out for awhile. Even with Hasbro's figures, I'm finding that if I wait awhile after they are released, I can find better deals on loose figures on eBay than buying them new online or in stores.

@@sidearmsalpha Yeah I agree with you, the only thing that sucks as of late is that even Ebay is not as reliable anymore especially if you're a Canadian buyer. That global shipping program is personally my bane. That is why I have stopped buying there on top of people who come in Ebay and overprice their stuff thinking that their loose and broken toy is worth its weight in gold, just because collecting stuff is cool nowadays.

A lot of states now charge sales tax on eBay purchases and eBay has cut back on incentives like eBay buck offers so I have to consider how much my total will be when I bid on higher price items. I'm at the point where I'm just enjoying what I have and limiting must have purchases but looking out for deals.

Collecting is a waste of £ but a safer one than many. Unless you an stumble across very low buy to very high aftermarket sale. A very small very important collection to me is the best whatever the franchise.

Fun video. For me MMC Hellion, Omne and all three Insecticons are massive regrets. If I'd passed on the minibots and spent the extra on the Badcube Collectors Edition Insecticons, I'd be much happier. I regret picking Magic Square for legends collecting - too many QC issues, the nature of some of those issues and the massive stall in progress on getting Autobot cars... I think hindsight is a different thing - if I'd known Earthrise would have been coming, I'd've never started collecting either MP or legends but I couldn't've known at the time and there are too many MP products that I really like in my collection (Soundwave, Maketoys Seekers, DX9 Gabriel, Gigapower Dinobots, Magic Square Optimus) to course-correct by selling up. Instead, I'll pivot by limiting my MP to just picking up things that finish off what I already have and only getting into new stuff at CHUG scale. BW MP Primal and Cheetor, whilst fantastic, ended up being a bigger mistake but I couldn't've known how the prices would go. TFE legends may also prove to be a misstep in BW collecting depending on how Kingdom pans out but I'm not too deep into them and they're not too expensive so their Skorponok will be worth still being in on. I'm not surprised people regret TFC Hercules - widely championed as the victor of the original Devestator wars - but I do not regret buying Maketoys Giant. He still fulfils the role I bought him for - looking great, being fun and scaling with the original Classics seekers. Similarly, I don't think it'll be too many years before people want to swap out their Toyworld Devestators for a more 'toon accurate one whereas I'm confident I've made a good investment in GT to scale with the new Voyager CHUG seekers. Takara's new Starscream looks like it'll be a win over Maketoys but I don't regret Maketoys based on how much they are likely to beat Takara by on price. The new Starscream does mean there'll likely be new coneheads a few years down the road in case MT Thrust and Ramjet don't transpire (although I still expect they will).

I am glad to know I am not the only one who regrets buying impulsively😅. I regret the Transformers Prime RID Ultra Magnus, Titans Return Astrotrain, a Human Alliance DOTM Bumblebee 2-pack and TLK Bumblebee. Also I regret not buying Voyager Battle Blades Optimus Prime and Combiner Wars Devastator when I had the chance, daaaaaamn were those amazing figures :'(

Some figures aren't worth much. It would be like practically giving them away. Like some of the original CHUG figures are pretty worthless now that there are Siege and Earthrise figures that are taking their place. I'm just going to give some of my figures away to my nephews once they can appreciate them.

My biggest regert are the Zeta combiners and Constructor, they look nice but in hand they feel like KO crap. I hate to say it, but you WAY oversold those Bobby.

For me the regret is getting into collecting Tformers to begin with. My collection is smaller and mostly iron factory but I agree that you have to have an attachment to the characters and I just collected to collect. I know I will never get my cloudburst figure and many of the ones I have are just because I liked Tformers but not those specific characters in a meaningful way. That combined with my other hobbies, I am moving on from Tformers as a whole and will be selling my collection.

Regrets/Disappointments: MP-9 Rodimus Prime. This was the most expensive Masterpiece Transformer at the time of purchase and it was also the worst. I think it still is the worst. Sure, there are aesthetic issues with other MP TFs, paint, materials, etc, but, none that were just a bad design. The alt-mode had zero ground clearance. It was difficult to transform, particularly the legs. I ended up breaking the shin panels. Most of my other Transformers regrets/disappointments/etc don’t amount to much exploitation, but the sum up I’m done collecting MP TFs, CHUG, third-party. I will be content with my G1 collection, because nothing will be as fun to transform as those were. I know they’re simple, but that’s okay. On the opposite of this, I regret selling my collection of Transformers Animated toys. I miss them on occasion, especially Swindle.
