I can’t imagine getting such a harsh rejection letter that would just destroy someone like that. Even Benson couldn’t help but feel bad for him and Future Mordecai who didn’t seem to know what the letter said beforehand actually felt some sympathy and perhaps regret at that moment.

This movie really changed how I see Rigby. I get that he didn't want to lose Mordecai as a friend. But, lying about Mordecai getting into college, sabotaging the letter and his future so he'd be stuck on the same level as him is insane. Also, the scene of Rigby reading the rejection letter is heartbreaking, though. One of the heaviest scenes in the show.

So if you guys watched Dumptown USA after the movie instead of before it, you would've ended up being confused as to why Mordecai was gone for weeks from the breakup despite the movie not showing any signs of the breakup at all That's also kinda why the movie had no scenes where Mordecai brought up CJ or Margaret

If anything, Benson wincing is one of the most poignant reactions aside from Mordecai himself. Benson's a man who isn't afraid to call Rigby a screw-up, lazy or a slacker and those adjectives do hold merit, yet Rigby's screwed up in the most painful way imaginable, more so than any of the previous park jobs he's done at that point, but instead of verbally ripping into Rigby, he winces. You know it's bad if even the boss who isn't afraid to be frank about how lazy Rigby can be doesn't even do that. Just look and listen as Rigby is re-reading his rejection letter - compared to his tear-filled face the first time he read it, his current expression looks completely numb and straight-faced as he audibly struggles to compose himself. He has long gotten used to the sting of this letter imprinted in his mind, and the selfish, deplorable actions that came after it, that he's resigned himself to the fact that he'll always be (seen as) a failure and a loser for the rest of his life. The reactions of the other Mordecais further sell it. Past Mordecai feels sorry for Past Rigby since he hasn't gone through what's currently happening and thus understands that Rigby doesn't want to be left alone while Future Mordecai laments how things have ended with his own Rigby, regretting how he didn't understand how Rigby felt getting rejected until now and by then, it was too late to make amends since Future Rigby died.

What a great summary, sister. Geez Louise. I did noticed that even though he read the letter in front of everybody, past Mordecai didn’t straight up became infuriated with his Rigby considering the fact that this betrayal just happened while present Mordecai finally realized that he was living in a lie ever since the very beginning of the series. Plus, it was great that future Mordecai saved himself from Ross because if our Mordecai died right there, then he would straight up disappear out of existence and none of this would’ve happened to make things right, although he was already too late.

The theory is that Mordecai and Rigby don’t really work for the park because the house they stay in is Pops’ house so really what they are are pops’ caretakers and then they also just do work at the park as an addition to being his caretakers

The part where rigby runs out of gas is so fucked up cause I mean if he didn’t he was going to fly into the sun and kill himself. That’s so fucked and that rejection letter is the most messed up awful rejection letter I’ve ever seen in a show. Also rigby’s almost sacrifice was real sad homie almost died just to save his friend even though he caused it. While what rigby did was messed up and unjustified mordecai did make the decision to keep doing what he doing.

Well, episode 1 is supposed to wrap up the mordecai & CJ arc. And in that episode Mordecai was gone for weeks after which wouldn't make sense if he's present during the movie.

I'm not gonna lie, moments like this are why, despite clearly being made for each other for how awful they aré as people, i still think Rigby is the worst of the two, and i agree with Benson that Mordecai would have been better without him. Mordecai is an absolute mess, but he's primarily self-destructive, meanwhile Rigby affects other people directly with his only focus being his own benefit. Again, i won't pretend like Mordecai Is a victim, we can always bring up that he killed Rigby off the space-time Continuum, and Rigby does show more growth than Mordecai given his own failures

In all my years after leaving this series and coming back to it, I never thought I’d see a movie of Regular Show. From there, it makes so much sense of how everything turned up with Rigby ruining Mordecai’s academic future and their science using the Timenado to get his vengeance. It is absolutely insane that Ross was willing to eradicate the entire cosmos because of a petty grudge against his student who did something so minor. With Mordecai rejecting Rigby after finding out what he did, I don’t blame him because how can that person still call themselves their “best friend” after performing the biggest act of betrayal anyone can do? Nevertheless, in the end, it showed us that life is not how you planned or go the way you think. Therefore, the best we can do is adjust the changes and keep on living our lives to the fullest. What more can a guy possibly want? P.S when Boom said “desk-popping it”, I was like “What, you saw “The Other Guys” too?” RESPECT. ✊

Since the season 6 finale leads directly into the first episode of season 7 it doesn’t really make sense to break that up with the movie and considering how continuity heavy season 7 is as a whole between episodes 1 & 2 is the best place to watch the movie.
