Thanks for this very enlightening and insightful video!

Right on lots of points. New aircraft type, new technology, new build techniques, new air traffic control requirements, new systems to mitigate weather hazards, new pilot competency and maintenance requirements, etc... It's all a big load so expect a long and difficult road to initial commercial OPS. 2025 is likely crazy and public acceptance is not automatic.

I have not seen a single one of these upscaled toys display any defense for flying in icing conditions.

Why should they? They are likely only going to be used in day/night VFR-only in the fledgling stage.

@@Q_Channel1 “Only” in day vfr ???? Why bother then ? If they can’t be used anytime (like your car) people won’t embrace them.

Most of them are not there yet. They are certifying under part 23 so a lot of wiggle room for what is required and what not. Probably it will begin with day VFR operation

@@savagecub all of the defenses (boots, heated props, heated windscreens) as well as extra passenger comfort require extra power, therefore more weight or less range. The business models don't lend themselves to flying in icing conditions.

Interesting discussion. These aircraft/companies may get certified, but which set of capabilities make business sense? It would be great to see an analysis of the various business models these companies and their customers are planning. Are they better than existing solutions?

knowing the topic, I hope they will take some highly skilled avionics engineers to help to bring the process to avionics standard. They will even need to take some automotive experts since ASIL and DAL are almost the same.

Isn't the self programming algorithm leaving breadcrumbs as to what its doing? If not then it should be programmed to for a test version.
@faluffel3 жыл бұрын
Not in meaningful ways. The code itself are not meaningful functions and if/else statements with nice function and variable names. Eg. in neural networks you can explain what you are doing to train it, eg. show the training sets when training the networks through backpropegatation, but if you were to read the code it is meaningless set of numbers in a meaningless set of neurons.

@@faluffel That’s very interesting! In humans we can monitor brain function and to some degree know ourselves well enough to be able to bear witness to what happened in an incident. Is there anything analogous to that?

Believe me, good AI is much safer than millions of code written by code monkeys, neural network are much more resistant to "unexpected conditions". And you need treat neural weights as DATA, not as CODE. It is efficient an robust representation of expected behaviour.
