Welcome back, everyone! Please make sure to do lots of research before considering keeping glass frogs as pets. In general, they are more delicate than a lot of other species kept in herpetoculture. Don't forget to answer today's question of the day! As always, special thanks to my Reptiliatus patrons for their additional support www.patreon.com/Reptiliatus ! Sorry that there haven't been many full-length videos in the last few weeks! I've been VERY BUSY building something VERY BIG for my green tree monitor lizards and several other enclosures for other animals!

they're so cute they almost look like they could only exist in an anime! love how this habitat has grown out. i've only done a few reptile and invert enclosures, but i really enjoy all the types i've tried so far. the arid has been limited to tarantula species, but its been a fun challenge to figure out ways to keep it interesting for all involved. my favorites are planted enclosures, gardening in miniature! so far of those my favorite has been for my eldest crestie, she loves checking out the different areas depending on what she wants. from burrowing under a bunch of moss to using vines as shortcuts to her preferred hides and ledges. currently plotting out a blue tongue skink enclosure set up for the coming year :3

@Biolo-G_KJ
@Biolo-G_KJ Жыл бұрын
As the person who gave the critique. It's not about the breeding alone. Bacterial issues, inmense breeding stress, higher feeding difficulty with appropriate nutrion are all factors. The best option are rainchambers or temporary floods for 2 weeks orso. But a constant water feature for months is not a good idea and none of the good glassfrog breeders use this for a reason. The frogs don't live above streams. They just breed there. That's it. I've bred many glassfrogs and I let people know this isn't a good option. I let Reptiliatus know many times. He hasn't bred them and is still doing the same nonsense that all experts do not recommend to do. At the end of the day it's his choice but smart is something else. There are basically 0 good reasons to do it and a ton on why not to do it. So I'm just constantly flabbergasted by these questionable decisions that simply ignore the opinion of experts.

Qotd: paludarium all the way. What could be better?! But I also love when there’s a little story. A nurse log, or island, or waterfall. Even slightly gimmicky, like a ship wreck, ancient ruins, or alien word. I always fantasize about doing a desert design for a sand boa with a collection of interesting stones and crystals. So it looks like a star trek alien world :) But I also love mineralogy and star trek, so that’s a personal Venn diagram of my interests :)

to be honest my favorite type of enclosures are bioactive ones that closely mimic the natural habitat of the species, basically biotopes, I think they are best since that way you can see the animal more closely to how you would find them in nature, not only that but it lends itself to more natural behaviours, things they might not do unless they are in their natural habitat.

@Reptiliatus 15:29 what are those silica gel packet looking things?
@Reptiliatus
@Reptiliatus Жыл бұрын
They are actually little packets with sawdust or bran that release predatory mites that eat/attack plant pests (thrips)!

hey dayyan if your interested in getting you hands on some news creature like viper geckos then I'd really appreciate it if you could make it to the reptile expo here in Slidell Louisiana in December

Thanks for the offer! It’s rather complicated to bring animals back from the states in a lot of cases but hopefully someday I can at least visit that expo! Would be fun!

any ideas how to find a baby creastie been crying all day thought i was being so carful and couldn't find her this morn
@Reptiliatus
@Reptiliatus Жыл бұрын
I would put out some tiny dishes with food (pangea, etc) and a few small water dishes. Especially under shelves or along walls. They’ll hopefully find that and it’ll at least help them keep going. I suggest searching at night and searching in the room you lost them. They really don’t usually venture too far. Best of luck!

What kind of reptile dust do you use? Mine doesn’t stick that well?
@Reptiliatus
@Reptiliatus Жыл бұрын
Usually for these, I use repashy calcium plus. Once a week I mix that with repashy supervit and then once a month I dust the food with the repashy vitamin a for frogs :). Hope that helps!
