It’s very normal for tarantulas from the same eggsack to grow at different speeds. There’s a theory about it I really enjoy. Apparently they will travel different distances relative to their size when they leave the safety of mother’s nest. This helps spread out the nest more evenly.

Is it possible one is eating more? And then once it'd bigger it continues to eat the most? I dont know much about tarantulas so just a guess

The way they house communally really intrigues me. I would have totally housed them in a large enclosure in fear of them predating on one another... You learn something new everyday! 😁

I thought with communal species you're not supposed to have a super big enclosure? Otherwise they divide territory and consider each other enemies.

The difference in size probably has to do with some kind of hierarchy between the tarantulas. Which probably means that if you want the smaller members of the communal to grow properly you would need to feed the more dominant members of the group more until they don't want to eat anymore for the smaller ones to have a chance. That's probably why most communals fail, people assume that if there are 5 tarantulas in an enclosure that it's fine to throw in 5 feeders in the enclosure and call it a day. But in reality there will always be a difference in the feeding responses between individuals and the ones with the strongest feeding response in the beginning will continue to have all the advantages throughout the life of the communal.

Love the skull! We have similar skulls in our juvie G. pulchra and our T. stirmi enclosures. I don't remember what they're made out of though! The one in the pulchra's enclosure is white marble looking, and the one in the stirmi's is multicolored but with browns and oranges.

Id suspect the reason for the size difference would be them competing for food, where the bigger one has a larger apetite and is more of an agressive feeder than the smaller ones. This then results in it eating more of the feeders you put in the enclosure, leaving less for the others leading to more rapid moulting.
