Rei Todoroki joins the fight for the very first time in the series in My Hero Academia Chapter 388, and here’s what her quirk can do. We’ve seen that the Himura family in My Hero Academia is legendary for their ice quirks, with Geten from the Paranormal Liberation Arc being revealed to be a member of this powerful family, but from the main branch of the family we have Rei Todoroki, whose Ice Quirk is much stronger than it seems at first. Dabi’s flames are so powerful that it started melting Shoto and Endeavor who are both insanely fire resistant, yet even in Dabi’s massive Fire dome created from the power of his flames, Rei’s Ice Quirk is able to actually form and maintain its shape for a decent while, allowing her at full power to actually begin coating Dabi, Endeavor and herself in Ice to try and save her son, and even though Dabi who can literally melt Concrete is still too powerful for her to freeze, you can see how IF Rei had become a Hero and advanced her quirk to its highest point, how the Todoroki mom might actually be as fearsome as Endeavor, just with a different element, making us question how Dabi vs Shoto could've gone differently, and how the events of My Hero Academia Season 6 would have changed with her presence.

Rei was chosen as Endeavor's wife because of her quirk for a reason. She's his perfect opposite, with ice as powerful as his flames. Endeavor wanted a perfect mix of their quirks for a reason. But it seems unlike Shoto, Toya wasn't addition. He was multiplication.

A perfect mix of an ice and fire quirk would most likely be mist/steam quirk A unique way to use it would be to make it similar to boil release from Naruto. This would give the child similar abilities to One For All No overheating or too cold to cause organ damage. But can actively choose whether to make the mist hot, cool or acid to either heal, melt or burn

I think that’s where the author is really going with this. If Endeavor would have just found a way to drop his conviction to replace all might or whatever.. his family probably could of easily been leading japan in the top 5 after all might put down the belt. But the trauma and endeavors obsessions drove a lot of people to be traumatized and lose their potential.

Minor corection, Dabi does not have the fire resistance part of his fathers quirl but instead has the cold resistance from his Mothers Quirk. This is why Endeavour stopped training Dabi and why Dabi has all of those scars.

I'm afraid for Rei because of how much of a toll this has to be on her body. We saw with Shoto when he was training how the constant switching between hot and cold became taxing on his body. So if Rei is keeping up a constant sub-zero temperature and uses it to protect Shoto and Enji, it could cause internal damage to organs and blood vessels. I sadly feel like Rei's death will be the catalyst for Shoto to push ahead of Dabi and be able to defeat him (not caught up with mang so not entirely sure what's going on, but just a prediction I have)

@migzy4704 I don't see her death being something to cause hik to turn over a new leaf. If anything, maybe AFO could hurt or kill her and have him have a short change of heart. But I see this ending with Shoto and Enji needing to incapacitate Dabi in some way just because of the deep-seated hatred he has for them both. Shoto because he was the "golden child" and who Enji focused his efforts on and Enji obviously because of the abuse. Or, flip side Dabi does hurt her, and it makes him truly snap and go all out because for all we know, he could still be holding back.

She has the same resistance to ice that her entire family has, the only reason todoroki had problems with ice is because instead of resistance he just used the heat to stop the cold and the cold to stop the heat, his mom is resistant to the cold though so she'll be fine

I think Rei will be fine, she is resistant to her own powers so doing so won't have any harm on her or her other children aside from Shoto because Shoto is just playing fireman with himself, if he gets too cold, he'll burn himself but then if he gets to warm, he freezes himself .. like it's a constant war of balance unlike Rei who literally is just ice - and worth to note is that Endeavor's first worry was that she'll get killed by Dabi and not she'll die from her pushing herself to her limit

A friend of mine is a fan animator and he made a small piece for Rei cuz he thought she could've had potential to be a badass hero. She covered her body in dry ice to protect from fire, and even used a special move he called "Ice Age" that covered the whole area in ice and allowed her to not only slow Dabi, but gave other not important villains frostbite and allowed her to use that ice to attack from any direction. It's a private animation so it's not posted, but it was pretty awesome

Her Ice quirk is what I suspect to have enhanced Touya's ability. As her quirk is overpowered compared to her body unlike the other members who are balanced. Umm, I have a question. Was Endevor always so abusive, or did it really get bad after Shoto was born and Dabi “died”. In Dabi’s flashbacks, he didn’t seem as forceful and harsh as when he was shown in Shoto’s flashbacks. Rei also seemed more stable minded and less terrified of Endeavor then.

No she can resist her own quirk pretty well. Dabi is weak to his fire because he got cold resistance instead of having a resistance to fire. Todoroki got the weaker versions of fire and cold resistance but balances it out by using both of his elements

@@kylejohns2288 that’s not what she explains nor what happened😭 firstly it’s abuse, not much “fighting back” to be done usually and it’s not like she’s gonna freeze the entire city because Enji smacked her that kinda crazy. Second Rei doesn’t have much trauma from Enji it was further hinted at that the trauma probably came from Touya instead especially since Rei very clearly feels that her problems weren’t created by Enji. Thirdly Rei doesn’t feel trapped in her marriage nor did she ever, a lot of ppl say it was just a quirk marriage for Enji but from what we see Rei and Enji actually love each other and it’s rarely shown any differently other than flashbacks from narrators that wouldn’t exactly know their relationship the best

I mean, Endeavor never really thought of ice as a powerful quirk on its own. He just wanted it so that his perfect child would have a way to cool down while using their fire. He always thought that the fire would be the main power. He wasn't even impressed by the cool things Shouto did with his ice during the sports festival. So I really like that in the end it's Rei's part of the quirk that could save them all. And obviously she would be powerful, otherwise Shouto wouldn't have been born with powerful ice. It's nice that after so long following Endeavor and Dabi fighting with fire and Shouto focused on improving his fire side we go back to the ice part of the family. I really like it and Rei is such a strong woman in every sense of the word

Hell she pretty much didn’t Cared at all she was sold because at the start she and Enji actually worked pretty good to the point it that despite his objetive, it was Rei who actually was the More insistent on Making More Children as explained in the Todorokis Backstory. The real Problems started the moment Touya's Quirk was declared Harmful to him. It was from that moment onwards everything fall apart.
