Check it out, you can go to options , then select “reduced latency when monitoring” THEN set the audio output of the track you’re recording into to ext 1/2 or whatever your headphones or speakers are. This will bypass the audio stream and any latency on your master track or your project. When you’ve finished recording, simply change the track output back to “main” or “master”. Latency no more 🎉

@@ReidStefanMusic yes i always use the monitoring from the focusrite 18i20 for no latency, and then i explain to the singer if we use the processing there will be a small latency, but using the reverb only literally gives the best of both worlds. No latency but with reverb

@@djcontouryes the stock reverb will be subject to whatever Daw latency you have. But in mixing terms we call that pre-delay and it’s a good thing on vocal reverbs. You can see me reduce the pre-delay on my stock reverb before recording to minimize delay reverb

The biggest problem for me is I make these big Productions and then proceed to add layers and layers of vocals in the same project, even though I have a really fast performing computer is just always that latency that's really rough so I'd always recommend people having a vocals project file where it's just one audio file of the instrumental so you can record with ease every time! another option i think works well is monitoring through something like superrack performer if you don't have an interface with dsp. you can load in any plugin as long as its vst3 and get something good enough to track with while input monitoring is set to off in ableton and still have all your effects on when you press play. i've used it for a few months now and it's one of the best investments i've made software wise.

My version of your freeze all tracks is to export the instrumental as a wav file and have that in a separate session where I record all the vocals. When I’m done, Ableton makes it easy to pull those tracks back into the main session leaving vocal guides or failed experiment tracks behind. I do this for instrument recording as well when swapping out a midi instrument for the real thing.
@ReidStefanMusic13 күн бұрын
yes! That's a great workflow suggestion! Ableton makes it extremely easy to merge 2 separate sessions together for your final mixdown! Now that M4 Max computers are ridiculously powerful I don't see myself bouncing or freezing ever again.

@ my understanding is that it nudges audio back so to be in line with previously recorded content. did you manually verify the behavior?
@ReidStefanMusic13 күн бұрын
@ using other DAWs I’ve needed to manually nudge things left after every recoding. Ableton has always been correctly aligned for me. If I needed to test, I would probably record my metronome bleed from my headphones and zoom in to measure the difference.
@oosaxx13 күн бұрын
@@ReidStefanMusic I'll probably verify this in a week or so. Not sure if it should depend on whether you're monitoring through your interface or not. It would make more sense for what's within Ableton's realm so to speak

Hi Reid!! Great Video!! 😊I’ve been subscribed to your channel for years now and really appreciate all your videos and all that I learned from them. So first of all I wanted to say thank you so very much for that. And looking forward to more great videos. I have one question and it’s the first time I’ve ever written to ask anything so thank you so much for taking the time in reading this. I have a Mac mini M2 and I also have the new Apollo Twin X Gen2. But I would like to get even less latency when recording vocals, even if it’s a small difference in milliseconds. So…. my question to you is, after watching this video, do you believe if I were to purchase the Mac mini M4 (Base Model or other), if I would even see a difference in even lower latency, even a little, than with my 16GB Mac mini M2 mainly and mostly when recording vocals over my temp-bounced “stereo” playback track in Logic, because I always record in a separate empty project, and not in the track production one with all the plug-ins and all the MIDI instruments, and if 16 GB versus 24 GB would have any effect or bearing also on having lower latency? Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I do hope very much to hear back from you soon. It would be a huge help to me to know your opinion on this. Thank you again! 🙏😊 Sincerely, - CALEB SHAW -
