I just gotta add, if you see high healing numbers from your supports it doesn't mean they're healbotting, it means you're feedbotting. Three choices: either use hard cover and get more buffs, don't use cover and get no buffs, or don't use cover and get buffed for the 1 second you're alive

oftentimes the only reason they're taking so much damage in the first place is because you aren't doing damage. it's impossible to not feed when your kiriko and ana are both healing you and ignoring the wide open squishies. the more damage you deal as a support, the more pressure you're putting on the team, the more pressure on them the less space they're able to take, the less space the enemies are able to take the less damage your team takes. it is because you're healbotting

Well no, not at all. My Mccassidy gameplay is top tier, I'm shooting their roadhog and getting 8000 damage, which means there's no reason we should lose this game, so obviously if my Kiriko gets over 3k healing she must be healbotting and she's the sole reason we lose

rein is dominant because no one shoots tanks in metal ranks because they all have been yelled at for doing nothing but shoot the tank. Metal ranks take a small piece of general advice and then make it a fucking iron law they will never deviate from.

no it's more the opposite. they do nothing but shoot him. they will kill his shield, and chase while both support pump him full. they don't put any pressure on the support and dps so they can reign free which in turn allows rein to get closer while they have to fall back

@@group555_ hasn’t been my experience and if you go to the part in the video where the metal rank is posting- he highlights they try not to shoot the tank because they think that’s correct. Then he’s confused why Rein is just eating his team alive. It’s because he’s literally playing for free and no one shoots at him

I’m in silver and I’ve never really had a problem with enemy Rein’s. Maybe it’s because I know how bad he is in the meta so I know how easy he is to take down. Or maybe it’s because it’s the metal ranks so the Rein just charges in to 1v5 and instantly explodes.

Specifically he’s saying when a rein is “aggressive” (probably playing correctly) Sure, some reins will just stand in front of their team with a shield up and they’re a joke. It’s the reins that don’t just shield their team - they play for free as the plat player says “he’s a wall to just get around to attack back line.” Really just burn rein down. Can’t keep him up with DPS passive.

I disagree, he does well in low ranks because most low rank players like to just walk down main. when both teams are walking down main or stacking on cart rein is able to shield his whole team who aren't using cover, kill the whole enemy team easily with hammer firestrike and his ult. also he is less dependent on aim so for players with bad aim he will feel strong

I went from bronze 5 to diamond 5 on support and one thing that helped me on mercy was “blue beam is the default beam”. I automatically use blue , it’s my go to beam. I switch to heal WHEN NEEDED. I don’t heal people to full either which can be a hard habit to break but it helps your main healer build their ult.

As a sombra player I would say its still situational. In a sombra widow comp, there is nit alot of front line pressures and very low chip damage. So soon as I drop stealth and try to kill the ana the whole team turns around to peel cause nothing is up in thier face. Sometimes the play is infact play sombra 76 and make sure you are applying the dps passive untill the enemy tank dies. So my rebuttal becomes why swap heros when a playstyle change is all you need to do to continue to push. Make people work to get you to swap off your main. EMP is one of the most valuable ults, and we are not going to ask widow to swap.

What i see happen a lot with zarya's in lower rank is that people already charge her anyway but then don't want to push through them to actually kill her off and so there is just a walking christmas tree in frontline 24/7. I'd say trying not to charge her is oke but if you're already doing it or your team is doing it then you just need to push through, cut off the healers and burst her all the way. Can't let a person walk around with that much damage and health, it is a serious issue.

Tbf, when you say "OW1 bastion is unkillable/OP" as bronze players did, yeah... You're just dumb. Nothing wrong with the rank itself, but lets not pretend a lot of bronze takes are awful. When Rein is the worst tank in the game and all it takes is mild CC and some form of decent ranged damage/shield busting damage to make him actually worthless, and that's "unstoppable"... That's just a lack of basic understanding of counters.

I think the point was missed about the Winston part, they were saying bubbles would be put on other teammates so they wasn’t going for the Zarya. They were going for other teammates and we’re popping the bubbles that were being put on them so they could kill those teammates, i’m pretty sure they were not directly going for the Zarya.

From what I remember during my climb from silver to diamond (a long ass time ago) is that low ranks really struggle with the absolute most basic things, mainly in regards to hero counters and things like that. If the enemy team has a pharah, they will legitimately pick characters like Junkrat and reaper and then complain that pharah is unkillable. They think their characters should just win when thats not how it works. Once you get to about the gold level people start to learn that, but they don't understand positioning. Tanks will try to hang back instead of initiating, the moira is fading into the enemy team instead of saving it for escapes, things like that. Once you reach plat/diamond, people mostly know how to play the game now, it's just a matter of making stupid mistakes that cost you teamfights or a lack of communication. Or just a lack of more basic skills like good aim/reaction time. All that being said however, diamond is the most miserable I ever was playing the game because that's when people take the game way too seriously. I dropped sr back to plat and was much happier there.

Part of the issues with tanks getting in to do damage is that Blizz keeps increasing the general mobility of the game. As Rein you just have to give up 60% of the time cause they jump up a wall or cross the whole fucking map in 1 cooldown. If Rein could chase(or just nerf mobility) then it may not feel so awful.

To the point about Winston vs Zarya that begins around 11:00; I agree with the poster, it's 50/50. The reason being, if I pressure their backline or off angle, and my team just runs at the zarya, feeding charge and losing the 1v4, my value is gone. I either have to beat their team faster than my team feeds, or I have to come back, hope my team isn't too far gone, and hope that the enemy team doesnt take advantage of my lack of pressure. The difference is negligible because tank relies way too heavily on their team to get value. In a vacuum the value is there, but for the average player, it's negligible.

I love these kinds of videos. Your insights are really helpful! There is so so much to learn to be good at the game, when you are new it can be overwhelming, especially when your current team is shouting to do different things. Which hero does what against who, but only good on that map or that objective. Its daunting, and i think breaking it down like you do is invaluable, as most peoples advice is "go to the practice range" or "go to quick play" But quite frankly the practice range is only good for learning your ability keybinds, and quickplay is 90% of the time you roll or you get rolled. No real ability to learn the situational requirements for heroes and their potential until you start grinding competitive experience.

20:46 main tank (Rein/Winston) OW and a tank player (Prot Warrior) WoW here. So the difference is pvp vs PvE. Pve the tank has resources to gain threat and aggro on mobs that keeps them looking at you no matter what so it's not about doing damage but to keep the mob looking at you. People (or rather most people) aren't robots though so no matter how much you say look at me they will ignore you and go for your team. The way they ensure that people will look at you, i.e. threat, is to ensure you do respectable damage to them. That's why pvp tanks do just as much or maybe more dmg than dps.

for the moba question the right answr is duration in mobas youhave your ults every 1to 2 minute (i believelongest in league is ryze with 180 sec at lvl 6) and skirmishes or teamfights happen genneraly around objectives or some points in the game so you are almost sure by midgame to have your ult for most teamfights so you can use it, second reason is that a moba is mirrored way of playing so by killing the enemy team you gain something (gold exp neutral ojectives and constructions) in ow it's a run against the clock so you basically only need to hold a position and killing offers only about 20 sec of adventage it's more like a tense string of time wherheas there is no time limit in mobas so you can just pace the game yourself. in many ways it's more the mmorpg way of using cds like if you were playing in wow PVE best example is warrior tank where you use cds to avoid fatalities that would put your team at a disadventage or buffs at certains points

funny thing is whenever i play mercy i got like 70% dmg boost time at the end of the game and still only have like 500 dmg boosted, because the moment i start boosting someone they start missing every shot. Also i main widow, and i've noticed the same thing for myself, where when i get boosted i feel under pressure and really can't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside. The moment the mercy leaves, instant potg.

On the subject of tanks sacrificing damage for survivability in most games. Using WoW as an example there was, when I played, a vast difference between the build and damage output of a prot paladin built for pvp vs for pve. It's all about creating, and executing kill windows while realizing, and denying enemy kill windows as a pvp tank, in my opinion. Overwatch is no different, just faster than most. Taunt abilities don't work against real people (excluding match chat) so you have to generate your threat by being one.

Honestly hot take here: When Emongg says “it’s about a balance” that gives you the impression you should be doing both equally. It’s not a balance. Widespread, across all your games I’d say 65:35. It’s situational, like in Mercy + Zen you definitely wanna do that damage boost but less. OG mercy LW, etc. also I hate to say it but it’s very map based as well as comp based. Ashe on circuit royale? Blue blue blue blue. Even now with the Hanzo net nerf Hanzo on Rialto, blue blue blue blue. The focus *should* be blue beaming imo

one issue that i think doesn’t get talked about is balancing between console and pc. The only change in overwatch 1 between pc and console was torb turrets lock on time bc console can’t react fast enough since it’s mouse and keyboard. However, with ball being buffed and probably being buffed again soon, it becomes impossible for controller to keep track of characters like this and sombra. Maybe seperate patches between console and pc should come back

"Why is Rein dominant?" Because idiots can't land hits and coordinate to break a shield that barely stands up to anything. Practice aim. The few times I played Mercy as a bronze support, we stomped every teamfight because I fucking used damage boost and the other Mercy didn't. They always asked what I did. I said "Use mercy's whole kit."
