muntaha ahmed It’s true. I was rejected from a University I wanted to do a Masters at. They were putting me down based on the location of the University I did my BA at. They compared me to another student that studied the same course at me at the same University as me (supposedly this student had failed) and basically emailed me saying that I would most likely fail too. So I was upset, I cried but then I got over it and my family encouraged me to apply elsewhere. I sent my application to another University (which many people argue is a better one) and I was accepted. I graduated a few months ago and I passed. I feel like emailing the person that said I would fail but idk whether I should. If anyone is reading this and feeling down about being rejected, whether it is academically or anything else, then dw too much about it because sometimes we get better opportunities. ☺️

I got rejected for like 8 graduate roles, one after another. I was upset about it at first, but then I realised that I also had no passion for what I was applying for. I did apply to Masters degrees and got accepted, and was really passionate when it came to writing my motivation statement. So I'm glad I got rejected for the jobs because it made me realise I have another path to go down instead, one I never thought I'd get to experience. :) Don't give up, you'll get there! I won't graduate from my Bachelors until I'm 25 and won't finish my Masters until I'm about 27. And you could always work for a few years before going back to do a Masters. Or could do what I'm going to do and work whilst studying a Masters via distance learning. :D Good luck!

I got rejected from Oxford this year, and while it hurt, I know that it’s a blessing in disguise. For me, I know that experiencing such a large rejection early on prepares me for other inevitable rejections. Like you said, I don’t doubt myself... I know that it just wasn’t my year. But I won’t be reapplying, because I think that it wasn’t meant to be, and where I will end up will work best for me x

This video is so unbelievably inspirational and so so true. I was pooled then rejected from Cambridge this January and it was awful, I felt terrible and felt it was the end of the world. But it’s so true “Rejection is just redirection” because when that Cambridge door closed, another door opened for me. I just got into Harvard University!! Honestly, rejection sucks but I've come to learn over the last few months that is doesn't discredit your ability to achieve something greater. I actually received 5 rejections before even being invited to a PhD interview and have since been offered a place on an incredible PhD programme. I think we all need to remember that we are not our rejections and in no way does it define your worth. Like you said, it's merely just a redirection to something better. You will make it, Ibz. Just don't let this take away from everything you've already achieved... you have so much to be proud of!

I got rejected from Oxford this year and it hurt like hell for a very long time but rejection sometimes closes the right doors. I considered taking a year out for about a month before an offer from Durham came through and since then I've been to look round, done some more reading about the course and not only does my specific course have greater further education success than its Oxford counterpart (since I'm quite sure I want to do a PhD of some kind), its student satisfaction is 80% compared to the 60% at Oxford. I don't regret applying but I've started to look on the positive side: being rejected from Oxford was honestly one of the greatest things that ever happened to me. I've learnt to deal with failure and become a kinder person because of it, I'm going to a uni that is ultimately a better fit for my interests and my style of work (+ easier to get home from!) and I firmly believe I've been set on a happier path in life. Also I'm putting "rejection is a social construct" on a t-shirt please and thank you.

You're such an inspiration, Ibz. Not getting onto one Masters course doesn't mean ANYTHING in the grand scheme of things. I'm doing a PhD at Cambridge and last year I didn't even get the funding to do a Master's here. I was advised to take a year out and reapply for the PhD: I got in, and was awarded not just SOME funding but two different Cambridge scholarships. I swear some of this stuff is sheer LUCK and TIMING. It's so easy to take things really badly when we get knocked back. But if you want something enough, things WILL come good for you. And I know this will be true for you, too. You're Ibz Mo for goodness sake! Keep your head up. Nobody could think any less of you for this.

Oh ibz! My sister is currently on her 2nd year of her PhD - she was disappointed with ABC on results day but still went to Kent and ended up with a first! When doing her masters, she was rejected from multiple unis but managed to get into one, although afterwards she was not satisfied. She is now doing her research on pain psychology in children with cancer at Southampton and loving it! This is all just part of your path, and you will look back seeing that it was all part of the bigger picture. Sending love and hugs 💕

YAS! Rejection is redirection! Honestly been rejected so much this year because like you said just couldn't put enough into a lot of the applications with soo much going on. But the ones I did there were tears. I've had a lot of health issues so I'm not even well enough to work full time, so probably good I got rejected. It's just a matter of accepting that myself and communicating that to my family and figuring out where I go next whilst honouring my body.

A few months ago i was rejected from Cambridge after years of wanting to go there, months of hard work applying, and literally flying to a different continent for the interview with only a little over a week’s notice, I took it really hard but this video has helped a lot alhamdulillah. You’re right, rejection is just redirection! Ty ibz!!

i feel your pain. i got rejected from cambridge in january this year, and it was so heartbreaking. after all of the time and energy i had put into applying and prepping for interviews, and from going through the admissions process with very little guidance through the process (as an international student) i didn't think i would be able to come to terms with it. a few months later, and i have gained some closure. the wound is still raw but is beginning to heal. new opportunities are beginning to present themselves, and i am beginning to wonder whether cambridge would have been right for me after all. what i have learned is to wait, have faith in your abilities, and let life lead you a bit. you might just end up being happier for it. much love from canada!!
