This was one of the best miniseries I've ever seen. The acting, dialogue, costumes and story were all fantastic. This was one of my favorite moments. I'm fortunate enough to be a forester and am paid to walk through the woods weekly. I've heard herds 100 elk running through spruces forests, watch hawks swoop down and carry off prey, and have walked through cold misty mornings in autumnal aspen stands that turned into warm sunny afternoons. I wouldn't trade those moments for any amount of money or fancy dwelling in the greatest cities of the world.

It's hard not to have that feeling in nature sometimes. I was hiking in the High Sierras and came over a ridge one early morning see a shallow valley in front of me, the bottom covered in a light white mist. And drifting, barely moving, just above the mist, no more than 10 feet in the air, a hawk looking for its breakfast. The only thing moving at all in the entire panorama. The fingers of sunlight just reaching over the horizon, the white mist, the grey light, the hawk. I couldn't help but think, "this moment is literally priceless".

That flower shrub, it's intricacies and existence is a result of time and will of life itself to survive. The most jeweled and high design dressed royalty of a human may be awe inspiring, but compared to the force of existence and the momentum of nature, us humans and our creations are like a small detail in a large grand painting. For context, I believe the next scene or just a couple more is when he’s on his death bed. The beauty of this scene for me is the zeal for life he has just before death. This series changed my life, not even kidding one shred. I was very nearly the classic nihilist before it, but after it, and specifically the final episode, I began to think like John Adams here. It was a gradual change, but I just care so much more about the mundane, small things than I used to. A tree is a masterpiece and a universe is a boring blank sheet. That universe matters too, but I am small. I cannot see that universe. The grove of trees in my yard, that I can see, I can impact, and turn into a lovely park for my family and dogs. I love the mundane, and if that makes me boring so be it. I am no Darwin, no Cassius, no Voltaire. I COULD if I wanted to be, anyone can be, but I love these small things. I can always work to improve myself, and I do, life is a slow process. But enjoying the mundane in my 20s rather than in my old age like John Adams gives me hope that I'll have the time and the ability to truly make myself and my loved ones happy! He also said women should not be permitted to speak in church. If they have questions, they should wait and ask their husbands later because men are the image of God and women are just an afterthought God had so men would not be lonely.
