-Chanted by the choir of St. Symeon Orthodox Church
These hymns are chanted during the portion of the Orthodox wedding service known as the Dance of Isaiah. At this point, the bride and groom are led by the priest in a triple procession around the center table. During this procession, the bride and groom wear crowns as a symbol of martyrdom. In the Orthodox Church, marriage is understood to be a sacred mystery, or sacrament of the Church. A proper marriage which has Christ as its center is seen as a path towards salvation, allowing a person to die to one's self by sacrificing one's own will and desires for that of the other person.
