Being wrongfully slandered is the most painful thing . What’s more painful is that the perpetrators seem to enjoy their lives without punishment. I still find it hard to pray for my enemies .

Psalm 94, Psalm 35 and Psalm 7... God avenges, after all the time Judas, the pharasee's and saducees had to hear Jesus - did He then pray for them knowing they wanted His death? No, He prayed for the flying monkey's who crucified Him following orders but not the brood of vipers, den of thieves, fox, serpents, graves full of dead men's bones or open sepulchres. Jesus shook off the dust, God said pray no more for this people. Hate evil, pray for God to arise and avenge us speedily of the evil embracing our innocent children!

To be quite frank, I almost never think of Heaven. My life often seems to me to be so full of adversity that I am thankful just to make through the day. Mr. Piper has shown me through this sermon that this fact is, without doubt, the very thing that holds me back. I am still super new at understanding the deep things of God. There was a time I thought I understood the Christian life and the precepts we are called by the Father to live out. It has recently dawned on me that I know nothing of the deep mystery of the Gospel. After the recent events in my life, and after hearing the elegant and soul resonating words of this (literal) Titan of a man, I am utterly amazed at my total and complete ignorance relating to the deep things of God. It is a bit overwhelming to be constantly humbled in the manner I have been as of late. It leaves me in a state of emotional and spiritual dejection. It is beyond my limited capability to relate, with mere words, the depth of my sorrow, I don't even really or fully understand it myself. However, in spite of my current condition, somehow Mr. Piper's words bring me hope. It is impossible to overstate my need for hope, at this now moment in my personal sojourn through this life. To relate that I am "thankful" or "grateful" is woefully, almost comically, inadequate. Yet this fact remains... "thank you" is about all I can muster. It'll have to do. God bless and keep all of you.

Amen. Just the thought of seeing God in person is enough to make me weep. The thought of being comforted personally by Him for my pain from this world makes me sob. I want to come home Jesus.

It’s a good point that persecutors are unlikely to make clear they’re attacking righteousness. If anything they’ll call you wicked. The distortion of reality can be extremely difficult to work through. When someone tells me I’m a sinner, I can’t deny the poverty of my spirit. But it’s one thing to attack and reject me, another to attack and reject Jesus, or distort the truth about Him in the process. He’s righteous and worthy of defence. I also agree it’s beyond heartbreaking when persecution comes from people you love - not just because they’ve hurt you, but you see how intractably lost they are. I’ll add to be persecuted with Jesus is an unveiling of truth by Him in the here and now. It’s wonderful to see the truth but just as heartbreaking to share it, and for people who profess Jesus to stand unmoved. If they won’t listen to Him, what hope is there? But all these things are what the prophets mourned. And I agree that mourning goes hand-in-hand with rejoicing over what’s to come. You can’t see its value if you can’t see just how far we are from it now.

It starts with treasuring Jesus above all because everything stems from this, such as rejoicing in sharing in the sufferings of Christ. Pastor Piper spoke of Silas and Paul in jail. That’s a perfect example.

As a pastor John Piper exactly said that it is easy to understand this specific Scripture, but not easy to be obedience to this regularly. because this commend naturally against human nature, emotion, and characteristics. However, it is truly written in the Bible as Jesus‘ commend to us, all born again Christian. God the Father will give us a key to obey this commend through His abundant help. Amen from Japan.

I think part of it is our punishment, when I look back, I can see all the ways God tried to reveal, warn me and save me but I continued thinking I could help Him change someone (while still needing change myself 🙄). So while I believe their evil will fall back on their own heads we also have to be convicted so we'll learn to heed God's warnings, trust Him and not return to our own evil ways...because we've hurt others also...
